Help Using the AVSIM Forums

No matter what I do, read a post, search for a post, change to a new page in a forum, change to a new topic, basically anything, my user information gets dropped and I have to resign in to the activity. I am a previous member, but I have been gone for a couple years and I reregister because I change my email account and internet provider. d I have been using my new user ID for a couple of weeks and everything was working correctly until last Monday (July 1st). Good morning all. Just wanted to pass on my most recent experiences with downloading AVSIM. As of this morning (7/9/13) AVSIM is taking approx 4 minutes to download a total of 248 forum elements. This represents a considerable increase in download time on my system. Previously, my AVSIM forum download times were consistently in the very few seconds. I am very aware of the difficulties AVSIM has been experiencing and I hope and pray the conditions I am presently experiencing with AVSIM are both temporary and not indicative of continuing and ongoing difficulties that can't be resolved. Hello AVSIM Staff & Members, I'm enjoying getting back into flight simulation after so many years away... but having a hard time keeping track of the various forum sites, support sites, gossip sites, vendor sites, and my real life! Anyone out there have an idea, or even know of a utility that will manage passwords to all of these sites that form the backbone of support for our hobby? Right now I have to keep up with... AVSIM, VATSIM, PilotEdge, VATSIM Emirates, Flight1Tech, Flight1Tech Support, Elite, and the list goes on and on... For a while now, half the time i hit the post button,i get " Saving Post" and often it stays that way forever till the post is lost. started using avsim back in 2007 with no issues, its amazing to see how software updates break stuff as much as they fix em. On a side note, some of the crap bugs i am now getting with internet explorer 10, i never saw with the first internet browsers released in 1996, think its called Netscape. The whole software update thing was supposed to be a good idea and not the nuisance it has become.

We have shut down Tapatalk and do not expect to bring it back online. It was too problematic for a site our size and with our amount of traffic, not to mention that it has some errors that caused extended load times for users. If we find an alternative, or when we are convinced that Tapatalk has fixed its issues, we'll reconsider a separate mobile application.

Were do you find the new uploads for the day? It use to be on the front page when you first load Avsim. Bobr

Hello, I do want to apologize for this. About 3-4 months ago I was trying to change my display name and put in my email instead (I made this error because I was very tired). I tried changing it back however like it says, only 1 name change is accepted every 180 days. I was wondering if an admin could change my username to " Artie711 "? Again, i'm sorry about this and it wont happen again. Thanks!

I cannot change my email address in my profile and I keep getting a wrong password warning. I type in the new address twice (while the old email address is at the top) and then when I type the password I get a message saying it is wrong. I then try anoher password I have and that is shown as wrong also. What can be done?

Ive been trying to start a topic in the main fsx forum, but dont seem to be able to. I wrote up my post, hit start topic, and nothing happened. I thought I did something wrong, so I wrote it up again. It didnt go through the second time. Im really confused. Does it take a while to post? And now that this worked, why on earth did this work but the others did not? Did the fact that I linked 2 pictures cause problems?

When posting after having introduced or modified a message it says now very often that the "page can't be displayed". Is there a timeout now for this ? If yes then it is much too short . This is really annoying now ! I have introduced this short message in three steps now to avoid this problem. I use Internet Explorer 10. Thanks. Guy

Is there any way for a user to turn off the "Click to Return to Top of This AVSIM page" notice. To me it's annoying and covers up some of the info. I know it's transparent but still annoying. Thanks, Bob.

Can someone please help me to add an image to my signature. I go into the user Control Panel and click "Edit Signature," but I cannot seem to see how to add an image that is stored on my PC as a *.jpeg, not exceeding 125 x 500 pixels as required.

I'm not sure if i'm posting in the right place, but here it goes. I'm very new to the forums and after reading the winners and runner ups for the latest reader's choice awards I found several excellent freeware and payware addons that I didn't know existed. I'm basically trying to find the awards from the past years but I don't know where to look except the news archive. Unfortunately this takes a very long time so is there a place where I can go to view all the past award presentations?

The Teamspeak notification thingy doesn't appear until you're on a forum like, say, Hangar Chat. Is it possible to have it on the forum 'front page'? My reasoning is thus: I read the bits I'm interested in, post my drivel and them mark topics as read. Then I want to see if anyone is on TS but you need to go back to a forum. Is this making sense? Because I can feel I'm floundering! :lol:

I use the latest version of Firefox and can view no single video listed here on avsim... It wouldn't work on my system here on IE10 either. I even disabled AdBlock, Ghostery and NoScript completely, however with no joy... any ideas? A

Hi. When I edit a post I have made, I often get results that appear like below in the thread. I have to go back and 'clean it up' deleting all the code. Is this an error your end? Also, when I click on 'Save' after editing, the screen does not go back to the thread, but stays where it is, with the editing box showing. This may have been posted before but I didn't see the entry. I use Firefox for my browser. On a routine basis when I access either the main page or sub-pages I get all sorts of programming all over the pages. If I use the previous page button (left arrow) and return to the page I just left, the code disappears and the proper structure of the page returns. Is this revelation of code a common thing with Firefox or is this some other issue with Web site programming. Thanks, Frank

Hello, It looks like the stylesheet or whatever you use for the mobile page is gone missing. The content (links, text, etc.) is still there, but the desing is missing. Best regards, Jonathan
