Help Using the AVSIM Forums

Info: Firefox 19.0.2 Advanced editing mode (not plaintext) Creating a new post or replying. Tried with adblock turned on, tried with adblock turned off. Issue: When creating a forum message, the "Delete" key starts acting a little too big for it's britches. When the cursor is at the bottom of a post, with nothing but whitespace ahead of it, using the delete key may not delete any space after the cursor, but instead might delete the entire line/paragraph preceding the cursor. Hi all, Not sure if anyone else is having this issue, but the sound on Youtube videos that I try to view on the forum doesn't work. If I watch the same video on the actual youtube site, the sound is fine. I am using Firefox 19.0.2, I have restarted FF and cleared the history & cache, but nothing has changed. Regards, Ryan

Hello, I've seen posts by numerous people claiming that the website is slow to load, and they have been told to check with their ISP. I can honestly say that it's not their ISP(s) but your website. I've been a member since before 2000, and visit your website at least once a day (no kidding), and never have experienced the slow loading like this before. It takes roughly 20-30 seconds before the main page, or any other page loads...this has been going on for I guess the past 4-5 months (roughly). It took me almost 10 MINUTES just to get this thead posted, that's how laggy the page is lately, why the heck it takes so long to open the other threads? it use to not be like that, if something it's not broken why fix it? GEESH Cheers

Looks like the site upgrade issues have caused the normally compressed sections of user profiles to stay expanded. This is resulting in a great deal of white space in messages posted by those of us who have detailed out profile sections such as My Flight Simulator, My Airplanes, and My Scenery. For the time being I tried to help out by cutting all of that detail out of those sections of my profile here and pasting them into a Notepad txt file. Took only 30 seconds or so. From that notepad file I will be able to reestablish them once the Avsim system is back to normal. You might consider doing the same... Folks Sometimes I see a full list of a member's machine & sim specs on the left hand side, and sometimes I need to click to view if I want to. The former version, as mine does here, seems to make for a lot of white space in a topic, as the minutest of generally uninteresting detail about his motherboard version and other stuff is listed. Is there a setting I can elect to stop that happening? Phil

Hi, Yesterday suddenly the upper link menu changed? Enclosing a picture how it looks now. Shouldn´t there be any library or forum links anymore? I had to do a google search to access the forums?! Also, the loadingtime has been extremely slow the last few days. I have also noticed that the links on the left side with harwareinfo also dissapered, and now all the information is listed there with the result of a very long post with much white space.

I see the notice that says Community Administrator requires all members to log in. So I did. Yet I see that there are 500 some guest on at the present time, so obviously some can see the forums without logging in. So what is going on? Is this site going back to one of those members only places and is in the middle of a transition? I also don't see a clear way to navigate from the home Avsim page into the forums. I had to click on one of the latest posts listed on the front page and then navigate back up to the Avsim Community from there.

Ever since the updates the last week or so, when I open the specific forums, all the topics are spaced far apart. The spacing between topics used to be much smaller. Is this a setting I can adjust in my Chrome browser or in the Avsim settings menu? I like to have the topics headers condensed or closer together (top to bottom) so that more fit in a page. Is it me or is Avsim sloooooow, it's not my browsers as I can access other website in the blink of an eye....any page I click on take for ever to get to it....

For the past 2 days now when writing the post the writing is in grey color not black as it was before. But when i post the reply its shown in black, and i cant access any of the option to change anything in the option tab area. When i use firefox its ok its using ie9 that this occurs and only ocurs in the avism forums not in any other forums that i visit. Also i notice against some names in the thread forum under than it shown the date and time but on some posts all i see is a dash line

Are you experiencing a slow down on our website? Chances are the forum is extremely busy at that moment. However, at times there are other forces at work. We have found the following tips to be helpful in addressing unusual slow downs. 1. Clear your DNS Cache by going to Start > Run > Type CMD > Press Enter > Type ipconfig /flushdns 2. Clear your browser's cache / internet files 3. Load AVSIM (the first run might take a few seconds since it's resolving the updated DNS information) 4. If you're still experiencing the slower speeds, please post a new topic here in this forum with the delay in seconds.

If I leave my mouse cursor on top of a subject line, a small popup window automatically appears showing that thread's latest content. This is very annoying. Same with the title bar items (forums, content, community, file library, calendars, help); they all auto open a pull down menu if I hover my cursor over it. I'm guessing there is a way to turn this stuff off but be darned if I can find it?

the latest update to avsim seems to have broken compatibility with forum runner on ipad. is this a known issue?

Hi folks, There was a feature on the forum where the "topic starter" was marked in each thread so that each time that member posted again, it was clear that they were the OP... I noticed it was new a little while ago and thought it was a good new feature. Now it's gone again. I know there are various updates etc in progress, but I thought I'd just ask if that feature is coming back, or whether it has been dumped for some reason? Thanks, Geoff

What is wrong with the forum? It's doing all these multiple posts and I tried to login via another browser and I'm unable to. I also just saw the message on the main page where it says we need to login with our forum names and not emails, but I still can't login! If I log out of this session, I will be screwed! lol

Title says it all. I can no longer hit return/enter and get a new line. It did it a while back then fixed itself..I am using Windows 8 with IE10 if that's a clue? Thanks, jake

When trying to select "Use Mobile Version" on my iPhone, I'm getting a white page. If I try to refresh, I get a page with a note "Fatal error: Call to a member function mobile. . . " It seems like using the mobile version is getting more and more difficult.

I've noticed the last couple of days that my user information and the signed in notice that appears in the upper right hand corner of the black band at the top of each page flashes. It will appear for a split second when I change pages and then it will disappear. I can't check my profile, access my messenger, or perform any function that has to do with that area. I've tried clicking on the band to restore this info, but it won't reappear. Thanks.

I don't know if anyone else is seeing this but I can't access Avsim from my iphone. I first notice the modified compatibility/scheme for viewing the forums on mobile phones was down now I can't access the site at all from my iphone. Just thought I'd the staff know...

I am trying to change my password But keep getting You must complete the entire form. I fill in to 2 boxes under Password. It does not tell what not been filled.
