Help Using the AVSIM Forums

I notice that there are 240 guests viewing the forums at present, according to the display at the bottom of the main forum window. That was how it used to be for me. I didn't used to have to be logged in unless I wanted to post something, and it was convenient that way. Now the only forum I can see as a guest is the one called "Welcome Guests" but nothing more. So why can some people view as guests, and some can't?

This problem only occurs on my MacBook so I assume it's due to the low-res screen (1280x800). Screenshot: Can anything be done on my end or on AVSIM's end to mitigate this? It makes it very difficult to read the forums sometimes. Thank you.

In recent days the forums have become very slow and some times unobtainable in the UK. None of the other sites I visit are similarly affected. I'm frequenly getting the following message both when attempting to log in and also When trying to view other threads having logged in.

It's a good thing that you can see which users are Commercial Members. But imho it would be even better if you could also see what commercial product(s) they develop.... Quite often Commercial Members join discussions about products of other Commercial Members and sometimes it's hard to see or figure out if the posts from that CM are simply 'user posts' or 'competitor's posts' (thus with a hidden agenda, which btw has become a popular word on this forum). Would it be a good idea to let all Commercial Members show in their profile what addon (or whatever) they develop (or test or sell) or what company they represent? Just curious. As usual.

I suddenly noticed today that various words look like links now (FSX, addons) and if you click on them you get a popup telling you what that word means. If that is a new feature indeed, is there a way of turning it off...? Those highlighted words annoy me because you get the feeling there is something important to be read there while that's not the case at all. I know what FSX is and after seeing that popup a few times I don't need to be reminded of it anymore. It also makes the forumpages look very old fashioned (I never ever liked sites which had this feature). So please tell me I can turn this off somehow! Hi guys, Here's a friendly heads-up to let you know I'm seeing a lot of duplicate new topics being created in the past couple of days. In the screenshot below you'll see four duplicates of treads created recently by different people. I'm not sure what the cause could be, but you might want to look into it. Cheers.

Hi all, Every time I log into my Yahoo account in the morning, I see 70+ emails from AVSIM because I'm subscribed to many topics, and I get an email for each new reply. Is there a way I can get only 1 email per topic? Right now, I get an email per reply to every topic. Thanks.

I am suddenly getting the Avsim forum in Large Type... Is this because of my age and "failing eyesight"? Other forums have not changed.. Firefox 22.0.

Hello Lately I have been experiencing sudden and random page refreshes on the forums. When viewing the forums I can tolerate it but when posting, if the refresh occurs it wipes out my post completely and I have to re-start. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks John
