Help Using the AVSIM Forums

Some topics are getting long and have 10+ pages. I don't see a printer view.

Within last two days or so, View New Content seems to be aging new content very quickly. In other words, I click it once to see new articles, then I click again and to see new posts. If I then click on a forum from the new posts list and then go back with my browser button within a minute, it says no new content -- it's like I've read all the new posts. Any ideas how I might change this so it does not mark them all as read that fast?

I quite often do a forum search only to find that my search has been disallowed. Just now for instance, I wanted to search for the word 'border' in the Hardware Forum. I get this as a result: "The following search terms are not allowed and were removed from your query: border One or all of your search keywords were below 3 characters or you searched for words which are not allowed, such as 'html', 'img', etc, please increase the length of these search keywords or choose different keywords". Please, how do I make this popup go away? For those who don't know what I am talking about, if you scroll down any AVSIM page a popup appears in the bottom centre of your browser with "Click to return to top of this AVSIM page" and no way to turn it off. God damn I hate these overlaying popups!

How do I exclude certain AVSIM Forums when I select View New Content? I have gone into Board Face where it says you can exclude but it does not seem to work even after I log out and back in. Thanks, Bob

If I attempt to do a forum search using the 'Forum' option... it returns a database error page.

Hi, Today, I just began to notice that the forum button that marks a subforum is negated after a simple refresh of my web browser.

I am on Win 7 Firefox 19 but also see this on IE 9. Normally when scrolling through forum threads, the display looks like this: But when a thread is moved, the display is re-arranged so it looks like this, with two columns for "poster" instead of one: which I don't really like. Not really a new feature, but one that has somewhat sank into history a bit, is the AVSIM registry of nation flags and your ability to use them in your signature. Here are the easy steps to including your country's flag in your signature. During that AVSIM slow load period I turned off signatures in order to decrease page load times. Now, as forum is fully functional, I want signatures back, but have no idea how to turn them on? Tnx

I cannot figure out how to add images or videos to my posts. Whats the link to the instruction of how to do so, or the link to upload? When I tried to add am image I get a box asking for a URL?

Gentlemen, Everytime I browse to the AVSIM.net site, it requires me to re sign in even though I have the "Remember Me" box checked. "ALL" my other favorite sites allow me to be "remembered". For instance the Level-D and Flight Sim Labs home sites just to name a couple, work just fine "remembering" me. I decided to experiment with my internet options temporarily to discover what the difference might be. Understand, I generally keep my Internet Options/Privacy Tab set to Medium and it works for all other web sites slightly restricting cookie usage, but not overly so. Hello! I'm currently having trouble with the email notifications. Since this morning I have had 6+ notifications from a topic I marked for "daily digest". Same thing with weekly digests. Seems that every update is sent as an "instant" email notification. Is this a global problem or something to do with my user settings? Thanks for the help! - Jarkko

Not sure if I'm supposed to wake up an already existing thread on the same topic or to start a new one so here goes...just wanted to report the response time from AVSIM is very poor compared to other sites so no problem with my internet connection. I'm on a 100/100 Mbit fiber connection and where other sites load in less than a couple of seconds at most AVSIM takes approx 20 secs to load. I've already tried the suggested things like flushing my DNS, clearing the IE history etc but still same problem so something just doesn't seem right currently with the AVSIM site.

Some time in the recent past, I noticed the menu choices at the top of the writing space are grayed out and I cannot insert links, bold lettering etc. What is wrong?? That's kind of interesting, I just went over to my other computer and all works well.

Hello When I try to click on the forums link ,it brings up a list of Avsim mods , while I am sure they are a fine bunch, I would much rather be viewing the forums. cheers Andy
