I am having good frame rates with Reverb G2 but the depiction is shaky? Is there any setting I am missing? I know the XR toolkit has a setting in it, I cant remember the name but has something to do with over compensating? Any Ideas?

  2. (**Title changed - see Post Post at the bottom) OK - this is a weird one that seems to defy all logic. I finally got to purchase the Marketplace offering of the JF Fokker F28 having salivated over it since release. I love these 'on the edge of modern technology' airliners - the BAe146 remains my all-time-favourite. And...well, I was disappointed. I loaded up the F28-4000 in VR using my HP Reverb G2 and two things struck me: - the textures were OK-ish, but more like the norm of a couple of years ago than some of the more recent 'blow your socks off' standard - the stuttering was dreadful. Not unflyable, but I landed after a single circuit feelin…

Have been trying to compare the two buts it’s long winded having to keep switching the runtime selected back and forth. It appears to me that the Link cable may be a tad smoother. However it’s difficult to actually confirm, but to me the overall image outside the aircraft just seems to be better in steam link? anyone care to share their experiences? run on a quest 2 with a 3080rtx

So my revberb G2 has been working fine for years at 90 hz on a rtx 2080ti. I recently upgraded to a rtx 4080 super and while the sim runs great now, the headset now only works when I select it to run at 60 hz. Doesn't make any sense to me so I'm hoping that others may know of this and offer a suggestion for a fix. Thanks, LouP

  5. DO NOT Update Windows 11 IF you have a REVERB G2! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! How to Guide | MSFS, DCS (youtube.com) What's concerning is Apple and the Steam solutions are all over VR and once again Microsoft will have to circle back around playing catchup on a solution they already had in house. This is why XPlane is so important as MS could do this at any time with MSFS no matter how successful and innovative it is. When dumb people are in charge stupid things happen.😔

I thought VR was "close" to primetime, but the Quest 3 I just bought leads me to believe that primetime is a ways off. There's no way we are going to get mass adoption with an experience like this. I have 30 years of IT experience, and this experience has been pretty terrible. After unpacking the device and controllers, I charge up the Q3. It took maybe an hour to charge as it was already partially charged. First up, I had to download and install the Oculus software. Easy enough. Then I tried to add the device to the app. This is where the problems began. I bought a USB-C to USB-A 3.0 cable, and no matter what I did the Oculus software did not detect the Q3. So then I tri…

  7. Hi guys, I just got my new desktop a few days ago for a good price with i5-14600KF + 32GB DDR5 6000 + Gigabyte RTX4070 12GB + 2GB SSD WD850x. I've never tried any VR before. Not sure if my 4070 is enough for Quest 3. Please advise if I should go for Quest 3 or used Quest 2? Thank you very much!

I have been watching the progress of VR for a few years, and I think we are almost ready for an experience that really has no compromises. I have not been a fan of the form factor of existing VR headsets, as they were just too uncomfortable for extended use. Also, the screen door issue was a major turnoff. But products like Bigscreen Beyond have nailed the form factor, and the hardware needed to run 5k displays is here. By the end of this year or early 2025 I believe all the pieces will be in place. The RTX 5000 series GPUs will provide plenty of horsepower and the headsets are going to be much smaller, with mini OLED displays being common. It is going to be amazing. …

  9. I thought this might be of more use in the VR forum: suddenly I got very unusual very bad sound distortions on HP Reverb G2 headphone after upgrading to latest NVidia driver, problem was fixed, just as quick as it had occurred: not by restarting MSFS, nor rebooting the pc helped. I unplugged and reconnected the VR headset from its external power supply. that fixed it.

I have been chasing CTD's lately and found out that pvrhome.exe had a memory leak that was using large amounts of memory (at least on my system). Under the device settings for Pimax, under general, there is a Home setting. I had mine set to Pimax Home which is the pvrhome.exe. After setting the home setting to off, the pvrhome.exe program then closed and I reclaimed over 10 gigs of memory. I have only done one flight since changing this setting so I can't say that this has cured my CTD's but something was definitely messed up with pvrhome.exe.

  11. Hey guys, Something is off with the world scale. I have it set to 105, and when I stood up from the cockpit in VR (JPL-152), I just walked outside the door, and the wings of C152 is lower than my height. Usually a person height is under the wing of the Cessna. What scale is recommended to truly get real life size feel.

  12. Hey guys, The world of VR is changing all the time. Lately I have been having problems with Oculus Software with Link cable (I feel Meta is trying to wind down desktop Oculus home and want people to use Quest 3 natively; again that is my theory). Issues I was facing related to stutters. The stutters came if the oculus home window is not on focus (there are numerous threads out there on the internet about this). So my solution came from Matthieu Bucchianeri. I will be sending him some sponsorship money from my company. Thank you!!!! For me with old hardware and one of the newest headset -- VirtualDesktop natively worked - It is using VDXR runtime. …

Well this is nice to see. Not a big vote count but up there and "under investigation". Without this we will never realise the performance gains promised by foveated rendering. DCS added it ages ago. Info and option to vote here https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/implement-quad-views-for-vr-rendering-to-improve-performance/604530/5

  16. As a follow up to my recent topic on Reprojection Mode, I posted new questions on the Flight Simulator forum about the timing of the spatial reprojection behavior that mbucchia mentioned in his original response. My new post ended with a conclusion on how to reduce VR judder: use a fps limit to run consistently at your HMD's refresh rate or a whole fraction of it, e.g. for a G2 90 (dream on), 45 or 30 (15...don't bother). In mbucchia's response to my new questions, he agrees with my conclusion and provided a in-depth discussion about the tech on why it works that way. Again, much thanks to mbucchia! One nice side effect I have about using a 45 fps lock is it open…

  17. I currently use 3440x1440 curved screen which I believe is happily served by 16Gb of VRAM. No plans to go to 4K, but am VR-curious and would like to keep VR as an option down the road w/o the need to change GPU. I'm currently seeking a 4080 or 4080 Super or 4080 Ti if it comes out. While asking, if you went to VR, has this been a one-way change for you, that is, is there no going back to flat screens after VR?? Thanks

I was experimenting with MSFS settings that I haven't used recently and found that "Reprojection Mode" in the VR graphics setting seems to no longer produce jiggly artifacts like it use to pre-SU14, IIRC, though now on the slight occasion they'll occur on the periphery. Apparently this setting does not enable Motion Reprojection (as discussed below), but it does add smoothness when "looking around", i.e. panning with your head when wearing your HMD. From my experience it's still not always perfectly smooth, but it's definitely better than not using the setting. Here's some background info on what MSFS's "Reprojection Mode" does. This info is culled from this post…

Anyone had an issue upon flight loading where the Ready to Fly yellow button is hidden or greyed out while in VR? Is there a workaround? I can get out of VR and back into it I guess.

  21. I'm getting thermal throttling, which I discovered because the PC shut down suddenly during a flight the other day, so I started closely monitoring temps. I run around 50C just playing movies. Gets up to around 70 in normal games or in MSFS if I don't turn VR on. In MSFS in VR, it runs around 80 for awhile, then starts bouncing up toward 90, when I can see the chip speed being throttled back when it hits 70ish again for a few seconds before bouncing back up. In testing this morning on a relatively easy load (Lear 35, FL400) it peaked at 93. These chips are supposed to run cool, and I've got a good HSF on it, so I've probably got a redo of the thermal com…

I'm pretty new to MSFS and flight sims in general so apologies if terminology I use is wrong! I'm using my Quest 3 via virtual desktop with a decent HOTAS. I really want to do some VFR bush trips. I decided to give one a go, admittedly before I've done the FS Academy course that I've bought (but not sure that's relevant to the topic). In the "ready to fly" screen it shows a screen with the navigation notes for the trip. However, once I start flying and enter VR that screen disappears. I then don't seem to have any access to the information I need to navigate the trip. What's the best way for me to be able to see the info in VR? Happy with installing add-on…
