Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I have tried this in several GA planes, and it seems the flaps are stuck in the one notch down. Either via keyboard commands or manually trying to change them, they won't budge out of the first notch down.

First, let me tell you what happen. After the last up date, I lost my flight sim exe icon; both the one on the desktop and the one from the start menu. Secondly, I had a community folder copied to my desktop; it suddenly disappeared. Because I have no Microsoft Flight Simulator exe, I can neither repair or delete and yet my hard drive size remain the same--files must still be on the system. My question is, is there a utility that remove all files related to MSFS 2020. I was about to reinstall, then I realized, space is a premium. Hi Everyone Started MS2020 this morning and I am finding the sim is stuck at 'Checking for Updates' and doesn't move on to the Welcome Screen ..... A brand new installation with the Hot Fix update installed the other day and no addons at all and all up to date at the Microsoft Store ..... I am just wondering if Microsoft has a server problem their end? ..... Has anyone else experienced this and maybe there is a solution? Cheers Paul

Doesn't appear to be connecting to servers and I can't change server - just says Automatic with the circle thingy spinning. Noticed this on a flight just now and the ground textures were rubbish - so nothing was streaming.

Hi all Someone was moaning on the official MSFS forum that I hadn't included an stalls or spins in my "Pocket Rocket" review so I've made a video demonstrating a 1) clean stall and 2) stall in landing config. Then some dramatic looking live weather which turned to serious IMC as I made an approach into Leon LELN Once again - great looking weather graphics but very little associated turbulence. Boo. Just my observations after comparing landings of several planes all day long... Being frustrated with the way the TBM and several others too easily fishtail off the runway, decided to try some other planes. Have to say the Carenado PA-144 and the default DA-62 land much better than most of the other small planes. The jets don't land right either. I think the modders and creators need to adjust things and add compensation values, it seems the defaults are way too twitchy. I dont think these other planes would fly off the runway from a very small percentage incorrect rudder deflection, and many of the planes go into an uncontrollable fish tail sway way too ea…

I recently did a clean MSFS installation on a newly-built computer. This issue didn't arise with my previous installation, and I can't find a solution anywhere. At first I assumed I was hearing a Morse code airport identifier but that is ruled out as the squealing noise appears to be coming from inside the computer case (like a hardware warning), not the earphones or speakers (these are operating normally--engine sounds, etc). Another clue is that though it initially sounds like an airport id it usually changes to a constant tone after a minute or so. I've decided the developer mode frames counter isn't telling me what I thought it was. I was running 'V Sync ON 30FPS' and the counter said I was severely GPU limited with my settings. It was flashing red much of the time which I took to mean I was overworking and therefore possibly damaging my GPU so I set out to decrease settings to get it out of the red and I managed to get it to be mostly in the yellow but still intermittent red spikes. The millisecond times were peaking at around 41ms for the GPU. I decided to try 'V Sync ON 20FPS' and still I was GPU limited with yellow and flashes of red but the millisecond times were now down in the 20 ms range. Then…

Is this a new 'characteristic' of the sim? I notice it has been 'choppy' when on the ground lately, even at the smallest of airports. I brought up my GPU software. When flying, at my usual settings, I get super-fluid 30 FPS and GPU is at 75-85%. I have watched the graph in my GPU software, and the second my wheels touch the tarmac, it flat lines at 100% GPU and of course the frame rate gets choppy. If doing a touch and go, once again, as soon as the wheels leave the tarmac, back down to 75-85% GPU usage and really smooth frame rates again. Why would this happen? I'm fuzzy on how to use Github to download and install mods. Could someone give me a quick and dirty on how to use it? I have watched videos on Youtube but I must be dense because I don't get it. Will appreciate you. Jim

Apologies if this is a well known issue and I've somehow missed it, but I'm finding some graphics settings are not saving and are having to be reset on each sim start. Namely, vsync, depth of field, bloom and lens flare are not saving. Once reset to what I want, I hit apply and save and they remain like that for the duration, however when I relaunch the sim, they have reverted to the opposite setting. Not a big deal, but it is annoying and I just wanted to know if others have this problem also. Thanks.

Heard some gamers are having a hard time with this update affecting performance, I have been having massive stutters and bad fps lately, this update was installed on April 13th (KB5001330) thinking of rolling back, anyone have opinions?

When I am in cruise on auto pilot the plane sways by about 20 degrees left wing and then right wing for the whole flight. What would cause that phenomenon? Any guidance would be appreciated. Rolf

So here is my story, recently on busy traffic day at EDDM with crj I was on ILS prepping fir landing and as i was waiting for switch over to tower plane started dipping under glide slope so i had to take over which made switching to tower and other landing prep stuff very difficult. Made me kinda mad cause of softwere issues my approach got super hectic. I was woundering does a320 have same issues or is it worth giving crj skme time and switching to FBW?

Out of curiosity... Why are they nowhere to be seen in the sim? I'm no expert but i'd say at least in europe they are an important part of an airports lighting system. Best regards

Dialing back settings a bit and perhaps increasing the rolling cache to 64Gb has let me re-fly this incredible flight sim. I continue to be awestruck at just how good it is. Just landed my new favorite Citation L at KPSP. Nice to see they fixed loading an approach procedure w/o the need to do a DirectTo first. My sense is the rendering process has been shifted slightly to the right, i.e., what was previously High, is now a little closer to Ultra from several releases back, such that I was fooled into thinking prior settings *should* work identically as they did. I now need to set a few more settings at High than previously, but it still looks fantastic!

Yesterday I flew into a mountain in the Alps,A320 NEO. Very cloudy so not able to see where I was going. ATC told me to descend to 10,000 feet and bang that was the end. However there was no "terrain pull up " warning, do you think that is missing in the sim ? I have learnt that ATC are not to be trusted and is much worse than FSX ie I frequently get "cancel IFR at this time" for no apparent reason "descend to 13,000 ft" when about 15 miles from touch down. Still a fantastic experience with this FS it just has a few niggles with it.

Not long ago I surmised the IQ scale (image quality) has shifted to the right slightly in the past few updates such that High settings might be generating a bit better IQ than it did in past times. I hoped this anyway since I've had to dial back settings more than in the past, yet IQ has been decent more or less. A little longer ago I was able to fly the TBM over Washington DC w/ nearly all settings on Ultra, 16xAF/8xSSAA, LOD 200/200, RS 100 and had perfectly smooth flight.
