Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

This began happening to me after SU6 and has continued (worsened) since SU7, totally wrecking ATC communications sequences. After takeoff and selecting a new cockpit camera (Ctrl+ appropriate number) ATC will respond as if I had pressed the single number and inappropriately proceed with the wrong response/instructions. This happened occasionally after Sim Update 6 (never before) and has continued after Sim Update 7 to the point that it's occurring at least once or more on every flight. After selecting a camera view, ATC has mistakenly: Canceled my IFR flight plan (which I didn't request) Approved an ascent to a higher altitude (which I didn't request) …

So you have a choice of LOW/Medium/High/Ultra My question is, do all of those offerings only mitigate how many trees are populated upon the MSFS landscape...OR...(and this is the important part of my question..) does that also mitigate how many different trees and species you would see? The reason that I am asking is that I actually prefer the ground coverage (for trees) set to Medium, but...by setting to that, am I getting every tree graphic and species that there is...or do you have to set the Tree setting to Ultra to be able to get every tree/version/species that is in MSFS? Does anybody know the answer to the above? Thanks... Ses

When I update the MSFS profile in Nvidia Inspector to include Gsync, Power, etc. Do I need to leave inspector open when running MSFS or will it use that profile automatically?

I’m wondering if anyone gets what looks like little spots or dots on some panels when the sun is shining in a certain way, I’ve tried for the last week and a bit to figure out a cure and just can’t, it’s not all panels and planes but some…the cirrus is pretty bad for me and I’ve noticed the islander is as well..Raymarched reflections off helped quite a bit but it’s still very prominent. Im loving this sim but some things are very hard to figure out, I also get what looks like the tress are all grainy (like pepper, the one that goes with salt lol) in the distance, and when I see others screenshots they look so clear, I guess could be a limitation of my gpu. Picked up the 4 Seasons after reading such great reviews...in fact, not one bad one....and I can say that if you want to really ramp up real world 'immersion' this is a must buy! NO..FPS loss, none! For those of you who tweak the NVidia settings for sharpness: What sharpness setting do you use for MSFS? I see that it defaults to 1.0, but is that the best setting for MSFS?

Did someone pass ILS approach lesson under IFR navigation section? No matter how gentle I manage to land (less than 100 ftpm) 'she' just says 'watch out' and the flight resets! (I keep the speed within +- 10 kts, direction +-10 degrees and altitude +- 100ft)

I decided to have some nice scenic flights in MSFS as an advent calendar this year and picked some flightplans from worldtour.flights. Hi Guys, TrackIR has stopped working in the sim...It works flawlessly on the interface of TrackIR but does not track my head in the sim.. Works perfectly in Prepar3d v5.2.. I have seen a YouTube video where TrackIR is in the controllers or other menu, I do not have that..is that the issue? Dave

I am flying nothing else but the FBW A32NX. Absolutely loving it. However, I often have the feeling the decel point is always too late... Whenever I let the Airbus do its thing, I come in too high and/or too fast, so it seems. However, activating approach phase manually (like 15 or 20 nm from destination or FAF) only seems to result in coming in even higher because of the lower speed and hence lower descent. Obviously this doesn't happen everywhere but whenever there are alt restrictions and I have to descent a few 1000 ft during approach I get into problems. Now of course I could activate approach phase even earlier and fly 140 kts with full flaps at 40 nm already but er…

Just finished tuning up another system for MSFS and wanted to share a tip to fix intermittent audio cutouts and clicking, along with occasional micro stuttering (in case it helps anyone else). Following in-depth testing of DPC latency, discovered that Win10 had defaulted the IDE SATA AHCI controller to the standard driver (circa 2006...) rather than installing the motherboard specific one. Reinstalled the intel RST driver from the motherboard manufacturer, and both performance and latency were significantly improved - no more audio clicks or stutters. G'Day all...! I've just done a clean install of Windows 11 and a completely new install of MSFS 2020. I've just spent many hours re-configuring my Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo equipment and am now baffled with the Thrustmaster TPR pendular rudder pedals. It appears that the brakes are 50% on all of the time. Looking at the brakes setup in MSFS controls configuration panel, the movement appears to be only between +50 to +100 In aircraft at standstill, I need to apply full thrust just to get the aircraft moving! Any thoughts/advice on this? Thanks, Rob

I have noticed for months that Carenado has forums for all their non MSFS 2020 products, but none at all for the MSFS 2020. I wonder why that is? I have a feeling they don't want to hear any complaints.

Sick of stutters, I decided to turn off photogrammetry in MSFS. The bad...I lost the bespoke recreations of various cities. The good?? I seem to have lost the stutters that plagued me with photogrammetry...and the ground in boundary areas matches now...I think I...like it?? More good? Using Orbx or freeware city POI add ons I can have the best of both worlds...POI bespoke downtowns for Seattle and Vancouver and LA and San Diego with silky smooth performance in jets. Seems mostly good...and easier than trying to get P3Dv4 and XP11 to run smoothly. Your experiences?? Now...how do I undertake creating my own POIs for key landmarks....?…

Following lots of help and advice from Forum Members over the last few days (on another Post here) I've now bought MSFS. I have a Saitek Cyborg 3D USB joystick that works very well in a host of other Sims (inc: DCS - Il2 Cliffs of Dover, - Wings over Flanders + also 3rd Reich. - X-Plane - FSX - P3D & trusty old FS9) It also works as expected in the Windows 10 Calibration graphics, and also the set-up Graphics in the MSFS program. Unfortunately when I go into the Sim, it is so erratic when operated (seemingly uncontrolled movements - in the correct sense for the aircraft control but erratically) that it makes control of the aircraft impossible I am aware …

I just discovered these a few weeks ago: https://www.pilotedge.net/pages/alphabet-challenges and have been flying a lot of the SoCal ones recently. So far they've been fun and varied, with plenty of flights to keep me busy for a while, without having to think too hard about where I want to fly next. Admittedly, I'm not actually flying them on PE...typically either Vatsim or offline. The only drawback is that they're limited to the western part of the US...understandably so seeing as it's a Pilot Edge feature. I was flying just now and noticed that there was not one Live Traffic AI anywhere around me, and I am flying between two major airports France to Germany. I went into the general settings and Live Traffic and Traffic name plates, both were turned off. ??? I wonder why some settings just change by themselves....
