Just something I find useful for various reasons, occasionally. List of Handcrafted Airports

  2. I just installed my FS2020 to my second SSD (m2) on the D drive. Both the app and the data, as well as my Rolling cache (in sep folder of course). Is this fine or was that a bad decision? Should I have installed the app alone on C and the rest on D? Am I overthinking this? I guess I read a thread about that it was a bad idea (could cause problems with win etc...)

  3. Started by andyjohnston.net,

I've found something odd and I'm hoping to get some help. I have data and photogrammetry turned on, but when I was recently flying around Washington, everything looked out of place. The Washington monument looked like a tall, skinny office building, the Capitol building was one floor, looking nothing like the proper thing. The White House wasn't even there.

  6. I know that this can be done in the aircraft.cfg file under ui_manufacturer ="SOCATA" ui_type ="TB-21 Trinidad GT" as an example. Most 3rd party add-ons use this format. But Asobo and a few 3rd party add-ons use ui_manufacturer = "TT:AIRCRAFT.UI_MANUFACTURER" ui_type = "TT:AIRCRAFT.UI_MODEL" I assume the TT:Aircraft entry points to a file containing the manufacturer and type information. Does anyone know where this file is located? And am I right in saying that changing the Manufacturer name for the Waco YMF-5 from Carenado to Waco isn't possible as there is no aircraft.cfg file? Thanks, Peter

  8. Just bought this awesome speedboat from simmarket.com for €10! Super fun to drive around! It has a virtual cockpit view and the model is amazing. Brought back fond memories of the fsx Riva Aquarama, although I do miss the babe in the bikini lying at the back haha! It's got some unfinished parts like the internal Cameras views aren't there and there's no pilot & copilot in external view but these are easy fixes and I'm sure the dev will sort it out soon! All in all, a good buy! Check it out here. https://secure.simmarket.com/adi-s.-luxury-speedboat-for-msfs.phtml

Post WU7 update - anyone else get another 19Mb download 24 hours after? I've seen some very good weather screen grabs posted recently so decided to have another research hour looking at pixelated clouds. I have on occasions seen some good skies, but mostly poor representation of what the METAR reports. Obviously the core problem is with the way MS/Asobo are utilising their own weather engine, but I gave it a go anyway. Unfortunately, REX won again for me. What is most astounding is the amount of pixelation in the Live Weather clouds - how is it REX can get around this for the most part but Live Weather not? Boy, am I looking forward to SU8 in the hope of impr…

Took a little trip KDEN>CYVR>CYSE then a drone ride to Whistler. Looked pretty cool and I thought the runs were nicely represented, but I thought it would be cool if the lifts and surrounding resort buildings were there. Are there any ski resorts out there with all of the above? 🙂 Also thought the sounds of wilderness at dusk was a pretty nice touch, heard a bunch of wolves, but didn't see any. I did this trip once before back in FS2004 and the transformation of what this looked like back then and now is amazing. We came a loooong way.

  13. Bare with me, this is a long one!🙄 First off, I know that "wpsystem" folders are created when you used the apps section of Windows Settings to move an app from one drive to another, so I'm aware of why they exist. What I'm not sure of is why I seemingly have 2 installs of MSFS, one on the E: drive I installed it to and one on my G: drive which is one I use only for data rather than game or app installs. I don't save any data to G: which directly relates to the running of any apps or games etc - it's documents, images, videos etc. I wonder if it's related to the fact I initially trialled MSFS on the Xbox app before buying it through the MS Store? Have I essential…

I have not received any SIM update for a long time, neither in the Microsoft store nor in the Xbox app, I can open and use the SIM but I am still stuck in version 1.21.13.0 and when I open the SIM it never appears that there is an update available.

  19. Started by hangar,

I'm trying to use the drone lock to make a runway cam flyby view (and also a tower like view) in order to view my own landing replays. I'm finding the lock to be very inconsistent in the way that it decides what it's focal point is actually locking to, which often times is not actually my plane. Sometimes it locks to me and other times not, and even if I cycle locking targets it never seems to point back at my own plane. The only way to get any consistency is to use the "follow" mode, but I do not want the follow mode since i want the camera location to be static as my plane fly's by, and only to track my planes movement by the camera pivoting it's viewpoin…

Flight sim loads as normal. Select a departure and destination on World screen. Clicks Fly Now and it starts to load. When blue line gets about 3/4th the way over it stops. Only way to get out is use Task Master and close. Restart. Same thing. Finally uninstalled sim then reinstalled it. (3-1/2 hours). Then to Content Manager and 65 more files installed. Then tried again and it locked up at the same place. Rebooted and tried a Discovery Flight. Same thing. Locked up at the same place. I was surprised when I finally got the new install that all my history and even third party mods were still in there. So, looks like I didn't get a brand new insta…

  22. Can anyone else confirm that the panels in the Cessna Longitude are unusably dark after installing the SU8 beta? The panels in all other aircraft that I tested seem fine. If there is a way to correct this problem, someone please please tell me. Otherwise, I'm pleased with the beta thus far. But the Longitude is my go-to aircraft, and I can hardly read anything on the screen. It's there. The panels aren't missing nor dysfunctional. But their brightness has been reduced by about 80%. The rest of the Longitude cockpit looks perfect. Is anyone else suffering this issue? Thanks!

  23. I haven't found a wireless flight joystick, and I think there are none presently. But is there any way to connect the joystick to some device which can be connected to the compute wirelessly? I think wireless is the future and the way to go. Really wish Thrustmaster and Logitech could see this.

What are some of your favorite short route flights? I typically fly GA and like to stay under 2 hours flight time. Preferably outside of the US, as I do 90% of my flying there and have been trying to branch out to other parts of the world.
