Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Yep, today, as I was preparing for a short morning hop from Beja Airbase to Lisbon Airport I found I couldn't select LPBJ for the Airbus. A popup says the aircraft cannot takeoff from a water airport :-/ Any ideas ?

Just release about an hour ago - available as a 2GB update in Content Manager. From the official forum: We just released an update to WU8 to the Content Manager that removes some duplicated files. Installing the update will free up approximately 5GB of space. There are no changes to the World Update itself.

I installed WU8 without a single problem, did a few flights and everything was perfect. And today I wanted to test the new Chancellor but MSFS decided that it's time to reinstall every single uninstalled item of the simulator. A total of 27 GiB: every uninstalled airport, livery, tutorial and landing challenge. Thank you Microsoft/Asobo!

Looking for a replacement for the in-game VFR map. Would like to see a more detailed version with city names, landmarks, etc. Any suggestions? I am currently using an add-on called Flight Sim Discovery, but not totally happy. It's supposed to login automatically, but I have to manually do it each flight. Just wondering if there's something a little better?

Has anyone got a rudder trim wheel working? I can't even get a keypress working for rudder trim, well at least I don't see the rudder trim tab move. Same for aileron trim. It only works if I grab the control in the cockpit with the mouse. UPDATE: Success - good old Flying Iron Sims. They correctly animate the rudder trim in cockpit and externally on the rudder trim tab. That's reassuring that the rudder trim is working. It has no aileron trim though. I need to find an aircraft with aileron trim that correctly animates the trim wheel for peace of mind. The AH P51D doesn't.

I thought that smoke effects were supposed to be introduced in one of the last updates. I started the DC6 this morning and didn't see any smoke from the engines . Is this up to PMDG to enable this?

I have used the Navigraph Navdata Center to update the database in MSFS to 2203. However, I find that the information shown in MSFS is different from what I see in Navigraph (even in the in-game charts, which is updated). E.g., in Barcelona (LEBL), the runways in Navigraph are shown as 26L, 26R,06L and 06R. In the World Map in MSFS, they are shown as 25L, 25R, 07L and 07R. Am I missing some step(s) in updating the MSFS database? Thanks, RE

I think the message "SDK update available" has been on my screen since my first days with the sim. It's only there when I switch the SDK on in developer options, I do use the FPS counter from time to time. Is there any reason to update it if I don't use it for anything else?

Good day all!! I'm looking to see if anyone has come across this issue I'm having, every once in a while when using tobii, the lights on the tobii tracker will sometimes blink very dimly and will stutter while moving my head, almost like its being continuously turned on and off. I usually fix this by unplugging the tracker and plugging it back in while in MSFS, this usually cures the problem but I was wondering if anyone's had this happen to them? I did download the latest driver, I'm also plugged in directly into my PC and not my USB hub. Thanks

Just wondering if anyone has found the Hiroshima peace memorial. I visited it in FSX, but can't find it in MSFS, even with the Japan pack installed.

I just noticed while looking through the base msfs content folder on my C drive, that the content XML file is now listed as a Content HTML file. What are the implications of this if any, especially for things like download Linker, that are looking for an XML file?

Is it me or are there suddenly less stutters? Like many I was getting stutters at low altitude or on the ground but as of right now they seem to have largely gone. Either there was some hidden tweak in the World Update or updating my NVidia drivers earlier has actually made a difference. It's still not perfect but, it is definitely better.

Had this issue when I first started flying the FBW A320 a few updates ago. The outside is so bright you have to look down in order to see the flight displays. My normal view is the the default "F" key. Seems there was a setting in either my graphics card or MSFS settings to fix this. Did a search, couldn't find anything. I'm curious for those of you that use Track IR, do you find it very useful when flying airliners or is it primarily a VFR type tool... I can't think of too many situations in IFR where i would need it but thought I would see what you all use it for when flying an airliner. Thanks!

After WU8, some airports in Spain have 2 windsocks. Does anyone know how to remove them? Thanks.

A new problem yesterday, never seen before. After a few weeks I try to launch FS2020 and it says there is a mandatory update, and launches Microsoft Store. I select FS2020 in Microsoft Store and it gets stuck after loading only half the product page (many placeholders are left blank). Only option is CTRL-ALT CANC and terminate the task from Task manager. This is really interesting: I cannot play if I don't update, but I cannot update. Maybe someone has encountered a similar problem before? Thank you A.

Hi, I am a private pilot in real life and an active user of the FBW A320N in the sim and there has been some discussion about the displays in the latest experimental build. Many of these relate to display darkness when zoomed out. Some comments even speak about doing this on landing. I am not a VR user (may be some day) so I don't think this effects them. However, I have always found it odd that some folks zoom way back (like their in the jump seat with the back of their head against the circuit panel bulkhead), I believe to get a 'panorama' feel during landing. Hi, I just installed the new free MSFS2020 World Update VIII for Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar and Andorra. Earlier I bought from ORBX the Lisbon Intl Airport (LPPT) scenery. I live in Lisbon, PT. Since the new World Update there are 2 Cristo Reis. The old bridge 25 de Abril is also double. At the entrance of the estuary of Lisbon's river Tagus now appear two small mountains that suddenly disappear when you close in to them. ISee the screenshots below

They have published quite a lot airports especially in Asia. They are on sale right now over at SimMarket. The airports look good from the exterior, which is the most important for me. But that's only promo pics and videos, so... what's your experience with them? Are they good? Are they worth it for 30% off?

Those sound driver options that got changed back with Australia WU7. Options/General/Sound/Main Device Out & Communication Device. When I boot up MSFS I have to go there and change Realtec to Default in both Device Out and Communications Device. Then apply, then back to Realtec and apply, and then back to Default again and apply. After that no more stutters for hours. I have to repeat this process every time I boot up MSFS again. Now I can fly using the FSDreamTeam Swiss Mesh, down low through mountains at dense payware airports with my lowly computer. But no stutters. I haven't flown for a few days and fired up the sim, did the latest update and content manager updates. Next updated the A32NX Developer version and have done 2 flights. I am seeing this weird red hue across the bottom of the PFD & ND. It particularly shows when looking at the VOR info on the ND. Not sure how well a screenshot shows it nut here is one. The displays don't seem as crisp as they did before either. Not sure if this is a FBW issue or an issue after the update. Was wondering if anyone else is seeing this
