Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

EGLL Inibuilds was always an unflyable studderfest on my low end rig before DX 12 and DLSS. Now its 31 FPS and smooth as glass. Other airports, for instance MSFS Asobo KSFO gets me 51 FPS. Used to be 32. Too much fun! Half the mesh on fs.to used to be unflyable for me. Not anymore. You know how sometimes you see an AI airliner on the runway just spinning around? I remapped 'external view look right' onto a hat. 'External view look right' on the mouse spins the view in a circle with the mouse, but you can't move the mouse far enough to go round very far. So I'm looking at the charts for the Rnav approach and LOC approach to RNW 10, to a regional airport in West Point, Virginia, KFYJ. The approaches are very similar yet different. They both use slightly different intersections and missed approaches. However I think the GS is 3.5 on both and the distances and elevations are almost the same to the various intersections, yet vary slightly. They both start at an IAF at 2000 feet yet the LOC indicates 94 degrees and the Rnav has 97 degrees for runway 10. I see a note that the LOC has a 3 degree offset. Why is this? It seems to me short snappier warnings would be more helpful. Distances remaining announcements seems to take quite awhile to play out fully as each slow message drawls out to the end.

I purchased the H-Jet through Market Place. I have Version 1.25.9 I think. I can't get on their discord site. Is this the current version? If not have their been any updates? If so where do I go for these. The Market place says I'm up to date. Any help on any of these would be appreciated. Thank You. Bill McCracken

I've never had these kind of issues in the early stages of MSFS. Then after a long hiatus I've recently came back into MSFS and I have the problem I'm going to explain. I use Rivatuner to monitor the resources MSFS uses on my hardware and I've noticed that now and then, apparently randomly but more frequently in intensive areas like London or on ground in a payware airport or in places with many AI traffics, my gpu fans accelerate from 2500rpm to 3500rpm/3800rpm for a few seconds before settling down again. These spikes do not affect my fps, do not cause stutters and doesn't seem to be caused by a spike in GPU temp as Rivatuner shows it remains pretty consistent. …

MSFS 2020 working fine last night. Tonight, after being informed that the Gaming Service has had an update when I try to run MSFS 2020 it fails to start and switches to the Microsoft Store. I checked my library for updates but all my apps were fine except for MSFS which showed 'Install from Xbox app'. I don't have an XBox and am not happy to click on Install from XBox app !!! Anyone got any ideas as to what is going on? Thanks for any help, Baz

I haven't flown for a while and I haven't updated to SU5 yet. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the dithering in shadows in the screenshots below? I don't remember it being this bad last time I flew. Sharpening is off, filmgrain is off. Please ignore the overblown HDR which only happens when I take a screenshot. Thanks, Toby

Hi All, Apologies if this has been asked before but I am in the process of assigning certain processes to my joystick, etc., and I am struggling to locate the APU Master Switch in the control settings. I have tried each of the related APU assignments but none of them turn on the APU master. Is this a known issue or am I missing something? Many thanks in advance. Dan

I am using the Aerosoft DHC-6 Twin Otter. I load my flight plan and then find it in the GNS530 exactly as expected. I check that the GPS CDI is set to GPS. I set altitude and take off. Once airborne I engage autopilot (AP) and select altitude (ALT) and I set climb rate. The aircraft responds and climbs to altitude set. I set the heading bug to intercept the magenta line on the flight plane and select HDG and the aircraft turns to that heading. When I approach the active leg of the flight plan magenta) I turn off heading (click HDG) and HDG disappears. Since the new weather radar api has been rolled out with SU10, are there any aircraft I can test it out with?

In short, is ATC with STARS just unusable, or am I doing something wrong? I just got Navigraph and want to use charts for everything now. My problem is during approach the ATC won't allow the STAR altitude. I'm trying to use STARS to get around the ATC going "10000 feet! No! 12000 feet! No! 7000 feet! No! 14000 feet!" Should I be expecting ATC and STARS to work?

Until now I had been happily using a freeware off flightsim.to for adding variety to ground handling equipment however the liveries were often mirrored and always generic, ie. not specific to the regions I was flying in. For some odd reasons, I got myself all irritated about it on Saturday night ! I'm always thankful for all the hard work someone graciously shared for free, but this time I ended up purchasing a payware addon on the marketplace offering a wide selection of ground equipment such as fuel and catering trucks, security vehicles, APUs and etc. Not only is the equipment and liveries linked to the regions (so far I only tested LFMN ~ EGPH and VHHH ~ RPLL) , …

I cannot access the weather menu.(in game modus) In menu settings the weather button is grayed out. It happens with live weather as with any preset. Anyone else noticed this? Kind regards, Bouwe

I have been flying GA aircraft since I got MSFS 2020, over a year ago. Recently I purchased the Fenix A 320, and only flew that for weeks and over 100 flights. The Fenix is a great aircraft and the best flying tubeliner I have ever flown in a sim. About a week ago, I got out the Milviz C 310 again, and quickly realized that while the Fenix was great to fly, there was not much to see of the great scenery in MSFS at 30+ thousand feet. I also realized that I missed that low level flying, over the cities and country side, and now I am back to flying only the C310, at least for awhile. Wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

Greetings All, I am sure this has been mentioned before and maybe I missed it. There seems to be an issue where the route is changed when you load a simbrief flight plan. The flight plan is fine at first load, but it starts you from the runway. When you choose a gate, it adjusts the flight plan. It appears there is no way to adjust the flight plan to correct it. The only work around I know of is to let it start you at the runway and then taxi to the gate even though you already have gotten your take off clearance. This is such a pain. Is there an easier method or setting I can use to keep it from changing the flight plan if I change the runway? Rick

I was hoping anyone could recommend any decent African airports for tubeliners, I want to fly into the continent more, but I only really buy off Orbx, who have none, so am I missing any developers at other vendors? I have seen FSDG in the past but never bought any of their offerings for any sim before. Thanks Joe

Here is Oyonnax airport created by Claude Roure. Oyonnax - Arbent aerodrome is an aerodrome open to public air traffic, located in the town of Arbent, 2 km north of Oyonnax in Ain. It is used for the practice of leisure and tourism activities (light aviation and model aircraft). So I bumped into a little app called Touch Portal and it immediately appealed to both my inner nerd and my flight sim techyness. Essentially, it uses your phone or tablet as an input device into your sim or program. Created a flight plan in Navigraph. Saved and exported it to MSFS2020. It saved and is in the list. I start MSFS2020, Select the CRJ700, select load flight plan and load it. When I select flight plan on the CDU there is nothing loaded. When I select legs in the CDU empty fields, so it seems as if the flight plan selected in the world screen, is not getting loaded into the CRJ CDU. Any ideas why this is happening? Hi folks, I’m not using SU10 until it is officially released but for some reason I am now hearing whooshing jet noises typically heard outside the aircraft but inside the cockpit. I have not noticed this in the sim before. What could be causing this and why is there always, always, some sort of problem in this hobby? I’ve tried turning down various volume setting sand using headphone option, neither of which have worked. Thanks folks

Just want to share my negative experience with the SimMarket Desktop App. All the downloads using the App are extremely slow, in the range of 8 - 30 KB/sec, which is totally unacceptable. The support at SM doesn't help very much, to say the least, as they say the low download speeds are related to SM internal issues that would be solved soon, but in the meantime no solutions are offered. Some products have the option to be downloaded as usual, but others must be downloaded exclusively using the App. Just in case I'm the only one, but I'm now hesitant to purchase anything through SimMarket.

I am wondering if there is anybody using the XBOX version of MS FS 2020? I assume it requires the XBOX X series game unit. Pros and Cons? What are your overall thoughts? Does it support any of the USB yokes, pedals etc? Instead of laying out big $ for a new gaming system, would this be an alternative? I wonder if this version is optimized for the XBOX hardware… Or do you have to use the XBOX controller?? Moderator: I hope this is the correct forum. Thanks!
