Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Well folks, as per the recent 'Developer Q&A' roadmap, this week Microsoft will apparently announce a surprise for MSFS at Gamescom which kicked off last night. I would imagine this will be more than just a new aircraft, and as the huge 40th edition expansion has already been announced, it has left me scratching my head as to what this could be? Perhaps it will be seasons (considering autumn is fast approaching the Northern Hemisphere), or maybe a career mode, or perhaps seasonally migrating birds/wildlife or tides as Joern had once mentioned. This seems like a ridiculous thing to post about, but I'm confused. I'm showing an average of 90 FPS in the FENIX while in cruise. On the ground (LFMN by Justsim) I was getting an average of 86 FPS. This is in 2D mode. In VR, while in cruise, it's indicating 80-90 FPS. I've never seen that before, ever. Not even in a 172 over the ocean at 10,000'. The only thing I changed was HAGS from 'OFF' to 'ON'. The frametime, as you can see is a bit wonky, but fairly stable. While panning, there is a slight judder, but no pauses/hiccups/etc. DX11, TLOD is set to 100 (2D and VR), and OLOD is set to 9.0 (VR, modded in the .opt). Could it be server related?

Hi all With the PMDG 737-800 about to hit the runway, I was wondering about the different versions. Excluding the obvious difference in size and exterior items, are there any differences in cockpit layout, performance or operational procedures? I would like to add the 800 considering it’s the most popular version but don’t really want to pay for something which technically I already have, apart from the exterior model changes?

Finally bit the bullet and bought a Tube from PDMG _ B737 -600 However that was 2 days ago and although I downloaded the Ops Centre software - all I get is a blank screen Deleted and reinstalled - but no better - what should I expect on the screen - because apparently I need this to Download Liveries

Update from Randazzo in the PMDG forums: I didn't know the latest beta version of SU 10 fixes some issues with long flights in the 4 to 5 hour range, as Randazzo is reporting. Can any SU 10 beta testers verify this? I thought there were still some issues with long flights over many hours.

Something weird happening? Honeycomb T Q has been working fine so today I lined up the Kodiak 100 on the RW and advanced the throttle slowly to full throttle an AC would not go over 30 knots? It has never done this before. Have not made any adjustments with the TQ since I set it up couple weeks age. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've just completed doing some liveries for the -700 and -800 and tried to export the ptps from the PMDG OPs Centre - without success. I am getting a notification to say that the PMDG servers cannot be reached at present - I am using the very latest update for the OPs Centre, bwt. I know the -800 has been announced for release prior to the end of August, so the question is whether anyone knows if there has been a more recent announcement that the -800 is to be released shortly? Or is there another explanation for the inability to use the PMDG servers?

Does Fenix have plans for making a A319 and / or A321 models someday?

What would you recommend to get a good overview of how to use it? Particularly the flight planning capabilities. It seems the user interface was invented by the same guy that created Reverse Polish Notation. 😛

Have any of you ever switched from the FS2020 disk version to the downloadable retail version? And if so, how did you go about? (Fyi, I owe the disc version of FS2020) I am asking because I am planning on buying a new computer in the near future, one which certainly won't have a disc drive installed. I would very much hate to turn all 10 FS2020 discs into ISO-files, transfer these files to the new contraption and then install FS2020 from there. I can imagine, as I have a valid product key, that it must be possible to connect to the MS Store with the new computer and download and install FS2020 from there. Would save me tons of time. Hi. I have recently installed MSFS on my system and want to see how it performs on my rig before I completely ditch P3D. I am trying out the default DA62 before I dive in with the Fenix A320 (which is my ultimate aim), and have installed the G1000 NXI and DA62X mods. I seem to be having a few issues with the G1000 when I am on the ground and starting the engine. I am constantly getting the following alerts on my PFD: PITOT HT OFF PITOT FAIL STAL HT OFF STAL HT FAIL ESP OFF The pitot and stall heat (I assume that is what it is) keep on popping up even when I have switched on the pitot heat button. They will go away for a few seconds and then appear …

Since the first update of the Fenix A320, I have noticed that the aircraft wants to veer right after landing. This doesn't happen at touchdown, but once I start taxiing. Has anyone else experienced this? It doesn't seem to be a controller issue. I have NWS assigned to the twist axis on my joystick and don't use the rudders with the pedal disconnect function to steer the nosewheel.

I would really luv to see a Boeing 727-100, followed by a Boeing 727-200. These jets were big in the 70's and 80's. When I was on FSX Captain Sim made a pretty nice 727 model. I am sure this would attract a lot of simmers who have been doing this for a while, as well as somew of the newcomers.

Do you like airports with interiors modelled in 3D? I loaded one up and my FPS dropped from 60 to 40. I have to think that all the extra polygons of the interior being rendered so I can barely see it through the glass windows has to be killing performance. I find it a bit odd that scenery developers render the interiors... why is that? Is there some benefit I'm overlooking? Is it worth the FPS hit?

Just went to download some profiles for GSX pro from Flightsim.to - to note that they all require DLC to be installed. Cannot find much about it. What is DLC? What does it do? Where can I find it? are installation instructions with the download? Thanks

Suddenly, I am getting the Black Screen on Launch issue in MSFS. I was flying, quit MSFS because I wanted to restart my flight fresh, then when trying to launch MSFS I get the Black Screen on Launch. Ugh, this sim sometimes tries my patience. For no reason this started. I have since rebooted of course, with no luck. Anyone else experiencing this? Is it server related? Something else?

Sometimes (not always) when making a flight plan (IFR Low or High) and selecting the Nav Log, I'm unable to alter the cruise/flight level. I can save the file and then edit it in notepad++, then reload it and it takes that way, but for some reason I can't change it inside MSFS World Map flight planner. Just curious if this happens to anyone else. EDIT : This is where I'm trying and sometimes it won't allow it to be changed. It's not restricting me to a certain range, but instead won't even let me input or edit that value at all.
