Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Hi folks. Recently my MSFS system has started crashing even while not flying. I can bring the system up to the home screen and let it sit there. After some time (5-15 minutes) it just crashes. When I look at the Windows event viewer (I am using Windows 11) it shows the famous 00000005 code with no other useful information other than that the offending module was the flightsim module. If I bring up the sim without using MSFS Addons Linker (i.e. no mods in Community folder), the same thing happens so it's not a mod. I am kind of at a loss at how to diagnose this and make any progress. Ideas? Thanks.

I broke down and purchased a 2TB SSD drive for FS after my 1TB drive was filling up. Before the change I noticed stuttering performance at some ad-on airports and the ATL area in general. Upon copying over my data to the new SSD drive those issues are gone. Taking care of the load times from a legacy drive really made a difference in MSFS performance. 😏🍺 At this point I'd recommend anyone using a legacy drive with MSFS seriously consider an SSD drive.

I would LOVE to get access to some LVAR controls (I still don't understand why not ALL controls can be assigned in MSFS itself) but I really can't spend the money on a Streamdeck right now. So I was looking at some cheap (or even better: free) alternatives. I have an old Android phone lying around and I thought that maybe I could somehow use it as a cheap man's 'Streamdeck'. I did a bit of searching and found Touch Portal. It seems to even have a plugin for MSFS. I have no clue though if it is possible to assign LVAR's (and HVAR's...?) to it... Does anyone here have experience with non-Streamdeck solutions? Maybe someone here actually uses Touch Portal? Or perhaps an…

Hi all- As the title says, the efb stopped working. Uninstalled, reinstalled, tried different liveries, no luck. Ran this through the FSW forum as well. Worked fine up until yesterday. Very clean, two week old install. Anyone with a similar experience? Thanks, Mark

Back in my P3D days, it seemed to offer a nice improvement on clarity without impact on frames. These days, I'm running 1440p and remembered DSR. My questions are: 1. In Nvidia Control Panel it lists only one option for DSR: 4k x 2k 5120 x2880 (1.78x DL). There are also various Scaling Resolutions listed for 4K x 2k. Are scaling resolutions the same as DSR? What should I use? Anyone else using it, and if so, what recommendations do you have for settings in NVIDIA Control Panel and / or within MSFS? Thanks!

Does anyone know why my tail numbers are whited out all the sudden. I believe it's just 3 party aircraft but not sure. I'm SU12 Beta.

I am curious how most of you are using MSFS. I kind of stepped away completely, deleted all the software. Then decided to come back into the fold. About 75% of things I had before are now reinstalled. Trying to figure out what's the best approach for me to start up again and set up my home office. I have a Quest 2 but at least on my system I have never really enjoyed the level of quality with MSFS.

It seems to me the solution to this is blending these together seamlessly, and it also seems to me since they are separate entities at some level programming logic could blend them together so much so that you can't discern this visible METAR layer. You can choke it down attributing this to smog or what have you in big cities, but again it doesn't seem like fusion science is required to blend them seamlessly using wide zone of blending:

I wonder why the FlightSimulator.exe is not within the main folder, and can be found into other folder with the same name, at other location, and being the only file on it.-

I have the latest update, I have lots of airline and GA aircraft about. Airliners takeoff and land but I never see a single GA taxi-takeoff-land. Went to some of the busiest GA airports... John Wayne KSNA, Van Nuys, Montgomery Field yet nuttin'. Is this its current state with GA or is it an issue or am I supposed to add my own flight plans?

I had over 2,000 hours in MSFS up to the release of XP12 beta, which I enjoyed testing. I stayed with XP12 because to my eyes the lighting seemed more realistic. I have still maintained MSFS and have loaded it a couple of times a month, but the lighting kept me away. However, I loaded MSFS a couple of days ago and the lighting and visibility effects seemed better to me - I had a couple of very enjoyable flights. The turbulence was very good too. Did these things change recently?

Sorry i felt the need of writing this and i hope im not breaking any rule...iv'e been around in this FS live for sometime now as the majority of my fellow simmers here, but i never had the need of getting nothing fancy in terms of "talking" to my hardware since i was that guy of just a joystick, mouse and keyboard. I cannot get GSX pro to work at KMSP. It crashes to desktop every time the profile starts to load at any gate. I know the problem is not the airport as no crash when load without GSX pro. Anyone experienced similar problem or have a solution?

This has happened forever but I've noticed the one thing which slows down the sim loading to the main menu is when the apps in EXE.XML are being loaded in. I know this because when the loading bar gets about 50% it sticks for about 2-4 mins and then I see the splash screen for FSUIPC. After that the loading bar starts moving along. I have FSUIPC, Coualt, Fenix Bootstrapper and FS2 Crew Command Center in my EXE.xml. It's worth mentioning I have the sim on a HDD not an SSD, have a ton of addons (who doesn't? ha) and have FSLTL and all the trimmings. Do you guys see this behaviour and is there anything i can do to circumnavigate? Thanks

I use the lovely Subtl-Taxi-Ribbon mod everywhere, don't use airport charts, and depend on this to get me out and back. Since buying and installing KDEN by FB this has disappeared for KDEN only thankfully. Anyone know what might be causing this and how to restore it AND retain KDEN by FB? Thanks

I dont know why but my default Asobo B747-8 has dissapeared, . My content manager only shows my Salty B747-8 version which works OK.- I recently had moved all my packages folder to other disk (including community and official folders of course), but saved that original folder renamed. At my renamed old folder ....\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore,I still can find the Asobo-aircraft-b7478i folder. As that aircraft folder es absent at the new location, I copied it, but each time I launch MSFS, the folder dissapears. Is there a way to install again the Asobo B7478i ? (it is no more present at my content manager) Thanks

Is it just me, or are others having trouble with the 787 too? Since the big update that brought lots of changes, I can't get it to work. I've tried it on NAV and HDG modes, and either way it just rolls slowly to the right and loses control.
