Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Hello, I've purchased MSFS on Steam and I've installed it succesfully. As every steam game, before installing, the client let me choose the installation path and I selected my SSD dedicated for games. After a quick test flight I decided to check the folders: the installation in fact created a "Microsoft Flight Simulator" folder in D, but it's only 1GB. I then realised that much of the simulator content is in Users/Name/Appdata/Roaming!!! How on earth is that possible? Fortunately I had enough space on my SO SSD, but I don't want to install it there!! I've very disappointed by this behaviour honestly Any solutions yet?

How do we save a flight? I want to start a flight with all systems off, then save as my default flight. How can I do this?

If you don't have a G sync monitor and wish to limit FPS to 30, you may find it locking OK, using the in SIM settings, but it ain't very smooth. Various combos of locking the FPS in nVidia and/or setting your monitor to 30 Hz, work to varying degrees of success. Hi simmers, old fart here. Last time I loaded a sim, it was on my computer. Now Its more complicated. I love the flights I almost took (using fsx joystick buttons), but yeah, looking good. But today, no joy. The symptoms appear to be a problem with my xbox login, whatever that is. And I was told to go to xbox.com to fix my login, but it logged in just fine. My microsoft account seemed to be a point of awkward, as it never let go of the fact that I had such an account some years ago, and tried to cancel it. And I know you all mostly know this stuff now really well, who would you contact to redo the exbox connection to fs2020?

Can we just take a moment to acknowledge how amazing the soundtrack to this thing is?! This one and the one from the Pre-Order trailer just carry so much.. emotion. Like that feeling you get when you see an old friend for the first time in over a decade and now they're all grown up and sophisticated.. 😂

Hi all After finally having time to configure my hardware I have had time to have a fly and wow had to constantly manipulate the controls due to the conditions as in real life, feels way better than other sims I have flown. When I finally turned labels on for other planes I was stunned how many of you guys were flying around. Would be fantastic if we could communicate Sure it has some pretty annoying bugs but I'm really impressed with the total package, this is such a fantastic real world trainer and whilst the default planes are dumbed down once we get some third party planes we'll be in Sim nirvana, even better once the 3090 ti comes out

Good evening, I remember this was a topic befor but couldn't find it. So i'll start a new one. MSFS has a great performance on my Machine and its quite enjoyable for me. I Just started to do the first IFR flight and what happened is that the sim gets vers jiggery and suttery as soon as i use a longer flightplan. I just finished a flight from western France to northern Germany and i got quite bad stuttering as soon as i was airborne. I then deleted the whole Flightplan while at cruise altitude and the performance was back to normal. Manually entering the FP again it took only a few moments and the Stutters were there again. Is there a way to have a virtual Log Book in MSFS 2020 so that flights can be logged correctly with aircraft type and all other information like flight path et cetera? Or is there a reliable third party software that can do the same?

Anyone having this issue where it won't descend? I'm trying to descend so I select my initial descent altitude and I select v/s mode and select my v/s and nothing. I also tried managed descent mode as well and nothing. Bah.

I simply can't believe that I can run it on "ultra" settings smoothly... on my i7 3770k with a GTX 970. That is just insane. Wow. This thing is stunning. Thank you again, Asobo/MS. And to all people considering a hardware upgrade: Just try it first. You might be really surprised how well it runs even on older hardware!

Currently running the sim using XBOX Game Pass option, but I'd like to get the Premium Deluxe version. So when I upgrade in XBOX Game Pass, and then unsubscribe, will I still be able to launch it independently? What I trying to achieve is just an upgrade, if I bought is separately, I'd probably have to redownload (and re-set millions of settings...). Any help appreciated.

I just flew through that wall of clouds. Didn't really see much more turbulence than I was seeing when I wasn't in a cloud, which is to say not very much at all. Anyone who flies much RL knows that you get some shakes any time you enter a cloud because that's what a cloud is - wet, turbulent air. Is there a setting I'm missing, or is the weather engine lacking?

Running as admin. The initial download keeps getting stuck at random points and the bar just says "please wait". tried waiting overnight, restarting my PC etc.

I’ve noticed the smaller airports are messed up. Taxiway lights in the middle of taxiways, jetways do not dock, actually in the aircraft, elevations below ground, and control towers in the wrong spots. Looks like garbage even with the advanced scenery.

For those with an older or mid range spec...after reading a lot of posts...looking at a lot of videos, and how-to- read's... Try these settings, as they give the best feature level/FPS/bang for the buck. Great visuals...and on my system, I can keep it around 28-31 with no dips below the lower mentioned. Also, looks great, and most importantly...when in the sky...the clouds are full Ultra! "Oh...and get rid of ATC AZURE...only once voice pilot/ATC..and is wanky...go to OFF-Line mode...there you will get many female and male voices, pilot and A.T.C. In my opinion, more real life immersive and is way better at the moment. Here's the settings:

Hi All, I've seen this happen a few times when i'm flicking between external and cockpit views (not drone/showcase). Upon returning to the cockpit view the pilot and his buddy will be sitting there. Moving between views over again doesn't usually fix it, but low an behold whilst I'm typing this email just sitting here in cockpit view - they two of them disappeared! Another thing I've noticed is if I save a view ALT-CTL-1 and then load that preset, a limit is placed on how far I can pan my camera around (as in swivel the POV). Usually I can rotate my view (spin my view) 270 degrees. Returning back to the default view returns to full 360 degree view. Any idea what…

I've had this new simulator going on 3 days now and yet to fly it. The controls are so sensitive it's impossible to fly. I take off and go up about 200 feet and the darn thing gets out of control immediately. The graphics are awesome, sure with I could figure out how to fly the thing.

Have now spent 24 hours trying to install boxed edition. I'm almost certain my external (cheap) DVD writer is faulty. My question is could I clone the disks onto a USB stick using the DVD drive on my laptop and then install onto desktop from this?
