Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

So the graphics look absolutely spectacular! Here is my concern though; I see guys running MSFS2020 at 40-60 fps stock, with good computer systems but what happens when we start getting our PMDG loaded up, AIG air traffic, third party airports etc? Are we going to be dropping all our sliders to get 24fps departing KORD? For perspective, I can currently run P3D 4.5 with max settings including 100% GA and Airline traffic (a lot of dudes fail to let others know they have traffic at 0% when boasting of high fps) flying a high quality third party GA aircraft, complex scenery and weather at a pretty consistent 40fps. For some reason my clouds have a rough, almost Pixelated edge. I have th following hrdwre. Am I setting something wrong? Samsung 49-Inch CHG90 144Hz Curved Gaming Monitor (LC49HG90DMNXZA) Video card - GeForce RTX 260 Super. Graphics are good, but don't seem to be HDR quality?

Hi, I would like to know if there is a proper sequence to EXIT (shut down the simulator) when you are in flight (e.g. P3D: pause the sim with P and press Ctrl + C to shut it down)? Thanks for response

Iam not sure if I am right and how to check it really. Is it possible that those 3rd party objects that are being developed fast by people in the community, are loaded no matter if you fly in that area at all ? I am pretty sure that once I took out few sceneries from my community folder sim ran smoother. It will make sense if they will cause performance drop while flying next to them but not if I downloaded landmarks of Budapest and I am flying in Germany. Any thoughts ?

Currently, the screenshot directory by default is pointed to my C drive in Pictures folder. Is there a way to point it elsewhere to another drive? Appreciate any assistance.

What Asobo and the MS Team have done with this sim is truly ground breaking imo. And I can clearly see the benefits of this platform for years down the road. I guess because I see where this is all headed I can forgive them for the turbulence. This isn't Microsoft Flight. This platform is slick. I love the UI. The hangar. The marketplace. The challenges you can do. Even the training section was pretty well done. And this doesn't even touch on all the other aspects of this sim, including the visuals, deep list of aircraft, hundreds of photo realistic cities, weather, AI, etc. In fairness a lot of this sim is broken and i can see where the frustration comes from among …

Anyone knows which file I can change the intensity of the lights of the AC, including the taxi lights, landing lights, strobe lights and becon lights?

Sure would be nice if FlyTampa Software would reboot their wonderful KaiTak Scenery for MSFS, and also, if someone would come out with the "old Meigs Field' for MSFS. I remember how these were "famous and iconic" airports in most of the previous MS Flt Sims. Meigs Field was even the default airport in more than one of the previous MS Flt Sims. From what I remember, these airports were probably among the 5-10 most used and famous. If for no other reason than nostalgia........

Morning, evening, whereever you are, I believe it happens since the latest patch, at least I haven't noticed it before.. In the VL-3 the nose shakes left and right which changes in speed (the shaking speed) when the RPM is reduced from quick vibrations to a very slow and weird yaw movement. I haven't checked the other props yet but I suppose this has to do with the newly implemented "engine shake at low rpm" or so effect? Does anyone know, how to turn this off?? The VL-3 definitely does not behave like that, it flies smooth as peeeep Cheers

I was flying the TBM from Miami to Key West International (EYW) my waypoints were VPLYY - SOMMY - GUCEL, which is the IAF for RNAV (GPS) RWY 27 to EYW. As I approached GUCEL (at 3 NM / 150 knots) I activated the approach and the G1000 did the usual 180° turn and created a new flight path N then W to CARNU, which is 29.7 NM N of GUCEL. Everything I read about RNAV tells me I can start the approach as I approach the IAF but the G1000 does not seem to agree. So, I tried again as I approached BURPY, which is the IF for the approach and is 18 NM WSW of GUCEL (IAF). Again, the G1000 made the new flight path looping N and W to CARNU, which was then 40 NM NNW of…

Flew two flights today after updating and both times I was cruising at altitude with the autopilot on using NAV and ALT and suddenly the MFD went blank with a beep like it was rebooting. The start screen would show up on it where you have to push the button and then it would be back on and the flight plan there, but of course once it went out the autopilot was disconnected and plane started turning. Anyone else experience this or is it just me?

So was flying the Icon only yesterday, today its not in my list of Aircraft hmmm? I can see 29 "ALL" using the Premium Deluxe. I've looked in each of the sub categories, usually found in Propeller and its just not there. I've not been fiddling with any folders or anything stupid like that. The actual aircraft files can be found here \Packages\Official\Steam\asobo-aircraft-icon on my system Any ideas?? EDIT: Had to delete the Icon from the "Content Manager" and redownload (despite the fact the UI said it was available). Now I have 30 Aircraft in the list and the Icon is back! Weird..... Hi guys, was wondering if someone could point me as to what I’m doing wrong. im setting up my controllers, buttons and pitch and roll axis. when I choose a controller with my axis mapped and hit the sensitivity button, there are no axis or curves listed. Just a blank box with a done button. yet the axis on these controllers work, albeit a bit too sensitive and touchy. any help greatly appreciated. cheers, Jason

ISOXE is the final fix / MDA in the RNAV 4 and ILS 4 approach at KPGD. KEYCY is the same for the RNAV 27 approach at Key West and UPEKE at Bellingham (KBLI). All those fixes appear on the MFD map and are in the procedures for landing. But, why I try to fly direct to them (D->) and enter them into the Direct To screen I am told there is no such fix despite the fix being on the MFD map. This happens with the G1000 in the C172, DA62, Bonaza G36, and TBM 930 Is there a valid (RW) reason I cannot fly direct to the final fix / MDA at some airports?

I found a decent manual on using an FMC. I’m not looking for miracles, but which planes have a mostly functioning FMC for flight planning, departures, arrivals, approaches? Calculating thrust / V speeds would be pretty awesome as well. the flip side would be even if the FMC functions, is the rest of the airplane bug free enough? if you have thoughts on a plane that I should learn on, I will go from there! Hi guys, kept failing on this: so you choose a starting airport and gate and "enter the tarmac" (start your flight). Is there any way to choose another Gate without going back to the Menu?

The airports are way too dark so I decided to add lighting based on the satellite imagery, what do you guys think? Is it worth doing all the major airports?

Hi, I downloaded MSFS2020 and am struggling thru the setup and getting it to run. When I fly in P3Dv4 I have a tiller for steering the nose wheel. In MSFS2020 there is a command "SET STEERING" under Miscellaneous and I mapped my tiller to that input. However, it does not steer/work e.g. in the A320 NEO. Does anyone use anything other than rudder pedals and twisting the joystick for nose wheel steering (separate device). Also I am not sure if the default aircraft support nose wheel steering without rudder. Thanks for reply
