  2. For Xmas I bought myself the Carenado Piper Seneca II for FSX. I like to use it for IFR and practice emergencies, etc. Sometimes for the challenge I turn off an engine midflight, or during takeoff or approach. So, how realistic is the asymetric thrust on this Piper Seneca ? In flight it seems to handle well (a bit of extra work) with one engine out, Same goes for approach if you know how to counteract for the missing engine. However, once on the ground I noticed it is extremely difficult to get the Carenado Piper Seneca II moving with only one engine. It either moves very slowly or doesn't move at all. I am not a real life pilot but I doubt a plane would get c…

  3. Hi guys I'm a long time devotee to Carenado's fine aircraft since FS9. I decided to buy up nearly every single aircraft they make for FSX during the Xmas sale... But as a real world pilot there are a few things bugging me - some I have fixed and will share with you and some I need some advice on. These are just what I've found so far. Maybe I'm nitpicking but if you want realism you gotta have attention to detail. I would hope these are things a Carenado service pack could address. 1st - Several of the planes in including the C185F & C172N have two vors, none with a GS - yet they did include dual nav/coms and a marker beacon for IFR. Hmmm... I borrowed th…

  7. I have been using my "new" Piper Seneca which I have come to love as a great a/c for practicing IFR. It has been a long time since I stopped "following the red path on the GPS", nevertheless in bringing it to its paces I have noticed that.... In the virtual cockpit there is a (default) Garmin GPS which can be operated from the VC. There is also a GPS pop up which is the same, but... a) The pop up never remembers its last window size. By default is a bit too small i resized it, but on every flight it comes back as a small window. B) The pop up GPS and the cockpit GPS though they are the same instrument, they seem NOT to share their settings. If for example…

I hope I'm not duplicating this topic but I did a search on here and nothing came up. Does anyone know how to add the radio call signs to the panels of Carenado's planes? I noticed on the King Airs the placards are blank. I try to fly a different paint scheme everytime I do a flight and most times ATC yells at me cause I miss their inital calls, lol. Thanks in advance. Gary

  10. Well some of them! I happened upon a demo sound set for the C206 Stationair on AVSIM library the other day. Now I have to say the C206 was one of my regrettable buys simply because of the engine sound. It sounded like a Dornier bomber(two engines out of synch) so it was uninstalled. So, the demo. Put out by Synchro-Soft,(search AVSIM library FSX sounds) it's not time limited, the only limit is your endurance of the 7 second interval 'Fasten seat belts' BING! Anyway, it absolutely brought the 206 alive! Delving further, I found they do the C152, C172, C182, C185, F33 Bonanza and the Mooney M20J. (couldn't help myself, I bought the lot! )They also do a bunch of…

  11. I recently bought my first Carenado product, the Piper Seneca II for FSX on which I had my eyes for a long time. I want to use it primarily for IFR which is what I like to practice. I already took the a/c for a few short rides to get acquainted with its handling. In looking at the cockpit I couldn't find how to set the Altitude for the Autopilot. I looked at all the PDF documents and printed them out in B/W (color printing costs a whooping $1.25/page) but can't find any reference to the altitude setting of the autopilot. There is the autopilot to enable/disable HDG, ALT, APP but I see no autopilot altitude display.

  12. Started by crashdriver,

I tried posting this in the dedicated 210 forum but after about a month with no response I'm trying again here. Is there any way to get the RXP530-CAR430.exe to work for FS9 or have us FS9 folk been left to our own devices again. When I didn't see it there I just went to modify it on my own but the panel.cfg looks nothing like I've ever seen before so I'm guessing they did some new technology thing on it. I'm guessing the knobs and stuff for the original Carenado GPS units are contained in the model file? Really all I have to do is to get rid of the functionality of those knobs, they don't line up so they look a bit funky but I can live with it as long as I can …

I noticed there are sparks and smoke coming off the Carenado 182 retractable I fly. Perhaps from a hard landing? Any way to remove them or, if it's a mechanical malfunction on the plane, to reset it? Thanks in advance JW

  16. Started by Emilio_G,

I was glad to see that the Carenado Piper Seneca II for FSX came with a white livery that can be painted to my heart's content. There are many files in that folder, Some are plain _T, others _spec and others _bump. I assume I only need to repaint the _T files and skip the _bump and _spec, right? When I edit it, should I add my paint on a new layer with the Multiply attribute and perhaps some transparency? what would be the best? I then merge both and save (DXTBmp with Paint.NET as my editor). And in my new texture directory, should I put ALL the files even if they have not been modified? or only the .bmp that I have modified? Is there a PSD paint kit for t…

  17. Started by forkedtail,

I purchased the FS 2004 Caravan recently, even before the bouncing and transparency updates were issued. As a long-time fan of Carenado aircraft, I have always been impressed with way these amazing models perform on my modest system. The new Caravan falls a little short of my other aircraft in the frame rate department. Since the Caravan does not have any kind of 2D panel, a first in my experience with Carenado, all of the flying must be done in the virtual cockpit. This is the first of my planes from this maker that lags in rendering the VC after toggling views. I also notice about a 10 fpm drop when in the VC. I hope that the folks at Carenado will consider that m…

  19. Started by SirStiggie,

I got a couple of Carenado planes during the sale (Bonanza and Seneca) and while they are nice to fly, the engine sounds seem off. The progression from idle to full power is not linear and sounds like a meld of three different sounds. Is this normal? If yes, is there any to replace the engine sounds and what are your recommendations to do this?

  20. Started by crashdriver,

Hello All! I have the 182RG which I have pretty well modified to be exactly like the T182RT that I spent many hours in back in high school (Save for the avionics which were much closer to stock and not the GNS430/530 stack and all that stuff) But one thing that I haven't really been able to fix yet is the instrument lighting. There is the standard "dome" light controlled with the panel light command which is a bright flood light that illuminates everything and is really only useful on the ground during pre-flight and in cruise when you drop your pen unfortunately it has the effect of making your immediate surroundings very bright making it tough to see outside. So…

I purchased the Seneca II aircraft for FS9 this morning. Installed it and no panel shows up. I read in the description before I purchased the plane that it came with a panel. If I press Shift+1 I do get gauges on the screen. But there is no panel. All other views are working. Anyone have ideas or did I just waste my money? This is the first Carenado product I have purchased and right now I'm afraid to buy another one. Thanks. Bob

  23. For a long time now I've been trying to fix a problem in the Cessna 182RG. The sound that you hear when the prop lever is moved is reversed, in other words it sounds fine when it's in the coarse position and vice versa. I've uploaded a video to Youtube which demonstrates the error. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aDypf4xhZw&feature=youtu.be Today I tried something new. I copied the C210 air file over to the C182RG folder and pointed the aircraft.cfg file to it. And guess what? The prop behaviour suddenly became normal! When the prop lever was pushed to the fine position, the engine sound became faster and higher pitched, and when the lever was moved back…

Hello Simmers! I have a cessna 208 grand caravan from carenado (25$) but I cannot use it because the visual of the cockpit is half! At Carenado support they don't know what to do, I tryed everything: zoom, Shift+numbers, but nothing. I have a Joystick Logitech Attack 3, very good, this is the only aircraft that makes me problems. I send an image. Thanks a lot.
