Carenado (FS9) RealityXP 430 Garmin LPV - glideslope

Featured Replies

Today I added linkgps=on.

It corrected the red flag (HSI) and I have normal autopilot/GPS operation.

But, I still have the no glideslope (HSI) during LPV approach.

I will keep testing.

Time to contact Carenado due to the identical problem in the FSX version and I also note your separate topic regarding the similar problem in the Malibu and Bert's response saying that model had a similar problem fixed in a service pack.

I got one good power on sysc with glideslope present followed by a good GPS flight and a good LPV approach with good glideslope indication on HSI.

On the second flight and another (3rd) test flight after PC reboot .... no Sync and no LPV glideslope.

Something is "almost" working.

Are those two images above from the same flight? The yellow GS on the HSI is lit up on both images. Also, in one you have the top GPS powered (only) and in the other both are powered. Also, are you are running (2) of the same model GPS? Both RXP? Are you running two copies of the same GPS in the panel? Or do you have the RXP Unlimited Pack where you can run RXP (1) and RXP (2)?

I contacted Carenado using their internet support "ticket" system yesterday at 10am 1-23-13.

This was my message:

"Carenado Baron (FS9). Nicely done aircraft. Real joy to fly.

I added two RealityXP 430 Garmins.

All functions work except glideslope on RNAV (LPV) approaches.

However, after testing several flights, I did get one flight where the RealityXP 430 Garmins initialized the Carenado HSI properly during the Garmin power on Self Test.

That one flight was a perfect flight, including an LPV approach with proper glideslope displayed on the Carenado HSI.

I took screenshots during the flight so they are available if needed.

Since then, I have not had a proper HSI indication during Garmin self test or glideslope bars on HSI during LPV approach.

With all my other FS9 aircraft there is no problem using the RealityXp Garmins.

I posted my results on the Avsim forums but I have not found a fix yet.

BTW, do you respond to posts on AVSIM forums?

BTW, the Carenado P46T initially had this glideslope problem with RealityXp Garmins but it was fixed in a patch.

If you need me to test anything I will.

Thanks,

Vaughan Martell (KDTW) "

I got this reply at 9am 1-24-13:

"Greetings.

Are you having any issues WITHOUT using the reality XP add-ons? If everything is working correctly then there might be an issue with the Reality XP software which is outside of our control.

As for your other question, we no longer reply to AVSIM forum posts as we now handle all our support through this site.

Regards.

Carenado Team."

I would point them toward their details for their own service pack for the FSX version, which appeared to address the same or similar issue for that version. The link in my earlier message above was to a message written here on Avsim by Carenado staff back when they had a presence here. From what was written in that message it should be clear to them that they had the issue with the FSX model. My best guess is that they forgot about the SP when they recently channeled the model over to FS9.

I would also repost this issue in the Baron B58 FSX forum here in the Carenado related area. I believe you will get more reads, and then responses from others who may have familiarity with this issue from the FSX release. This topic and its title are just in a general area that may get much less readership.

I found a temporary solution .. and also why I got the RXP 430WAAS power on cycle to sync to the Carenado B58 HSI "once" and fly the LPV with glideslope properly "once" during previous testing..

During testing I had loaded a default Cessna 182 (cold and dark BTW) with a RealityXP HSI (KI256) gauge installed prior to loading the Carenado B58. That turned out to be the one time LPV worked ok.

Today, during testing, I looked at all mt FS9 aircraft folders and BINGO, I seen the RXP FLT gauges in one model .. the Cessna 182 non-IFR.

So I tested loading it first, then the Carenado B58 and all started working.

I do not know technically WHY .. but it is working for now.

***

Just for info.

I also test with just one RXP HSI in another aircraft Cessna 182 IFR (screenshot) and it works also.

As previously mentioned, LinkGPS=On is required in the RXPGNS.ini file also.

Glad for your success. Enjoy!
