Hi,Today is my first flight with SP1c, one of the things that slowly emerged to me was a possible effect of Depth Of Field (DOF)? Fellow photographers would be familiar with this term, but for non-photographers, DOF essentially is when you have your camera pointing somewhere, depending on your aperture and shutter speed (on still camera that is, video cameras I'm not quite sure about), there will appear to be a band of sharpness and slowly blurring away.I have observed this on the NGX post SP1c, where there is a band of sharpness followed by slowly degrading sharpness to textures that are not so HD. This wasn't apparent for me before the update (could have been there al…

I've noticed that on some of my ngx aircraft, the landing lights appear as the big white orbs when I zoom out, but sometimes they manage to stay within their light fixture (does that make sense?). Anyone know why this happens? is it just me?mitch bowman

I was flying along quite happily at FL390 Mach .78 and decided to increase speed to 0.81 as I was falling behind on my VA schedule. Shortly after entering 0.81 in the CDU, both engines suddenly maxed out power wise, with red warnings on the engine instrument panel, this lasted approx 2 to 3 seconds then they recovered.A quick look around the panels revealed both No 1 (Fwd) Window Heat On lights were out with no Overheat warning. QRH just says turn them off and don't exceed 250 kts below 10,000 ft. Recycling the switches brought them back on but they failed again after about 20 secs. After the third recycle they remained on for the rest on the flight.Don't know if it w…

Post-SP1c I can no longer hit TAB to activate the green FMC text entry box. When I click TAB the green rectangle appears for a fraction (< 1/2 sec) and goes away again. Text cannot be entered. I can still click on it to enter text.I have checked that it is turned on in the options page of the FMC.I have turned it off and on to see if it reappears, as pre-SP1c this would happen with the throttle indicators and this fixed it.Can't take a screenie as it (the green box) isn't there (if you see what I mean) If necessary I can shoot some video and post that.bestjake

At the moment I have two monitors, and the extra one is used for PFD and ND for co-pilot. At the moment I have a 27'' widescreen for 2D display and a 22'' standard 4/3 screen in use for co-pilot.Is it possible to have two 27'' monitors and have the 2D for both commander and co-pilot? Only 2D display since I train procedures and don't think it's any good with 3D for training purposes. I plan to use eyefinity and "one huge screen" setup. How will it look?If that isn't possible, is it then possible to get all warning-lights and the flapsetting as a window to set to the other screen(s)?So I can have an extra gtx580 card for two extra screens. Then it would be two screens to l…

Hi Guys,I have the FMC option setting for "Glide-Slope Capture Before Localizer" set to NO. Yesterday, I was flying into KRNO via the KENNO1 Approach. The turn to final is pretty tight, and puts you right at the FAF, with the GS already decending prior to capturing the LOC.My question, how many people turn on the "Glide-Slope Capture Before Localizer" feature for this reason, or is it better practice to configure the plane ahead of time to be ready for the "early" GS capture before the LOC captures? Thanks,John

Hello,I have a problem. Sunday morning I downloaded the SP1c, or at least I tried so. While I was downloading I got a bluescreen. Since then I'm getting bluescreens everytime I'm running firefox. (For example when browsing this forum I get it after a few minutes. When going on facebook immediatly). I did not change anything or made any update from saturday to sunday, so I have no idea what could cause my problem exept for visiting this forum and downloading the SP1c.I'm not sure if this problem is really related to the NGX, but since it appears since I downloaded the SP1c I think it might be possible.I can use the Internet Explorer not, but I want my firefox back because …

My neighbor across the street from me has a brother who is an ex-navy, now Southwest Airline pilot. He came to visit over the weekend and she invited the wife and I over for dinner.Afterwards he and I were chatting it up about step climbs and the various sid/star transitions for SFO (of which I am extremely familiar because of PMDG) and alao about KSEA (SEATAC Washington) and I asked him a specific question about when the Collins vs Honeywell MCPs were in use on the 737-700.All of a sudden he started breaking into pension plans and medical coverage for Southwest Airlines, and what eye care plan my carrier had...I hesitated for a moment and my neighbor laughed from across …

Hello,Well I've been looking to buy a computer now for a while as mine isn't capable if running the NGX.I posted on a few forums now asking for someone to spec me. This is the best i saw, that i could afford of course. Also I'd like to know whether THIS spec would run FSX + NGX + REX + Scenery Add-ons without problems at a decent FPS rate (20+)- Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail- EVGA GeForce GTX 460 Superclocked FTW 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card- Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard REV 1- Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM- Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM…

Entering in the cockpit is always easy everything is in the correct place knob switch, so it does not push you to operate on amplified Procedures checklist. Why don't have the possibility to active random scenario where you need Amplified Normal Procedures as the precedent crew left the cockpit with switch and knob in wrong position.

Anyone have this issue or an answer?Whenever I go 'outside' to spot view, the skin of the aircraft is invisible and I see the seats. Then the skin populates and all is well. Also, on occasion, when I am looking at the pedestal I can see through the floor to the tarmac.Maniac59

Hello all,I own a legal version of the b737ngx. I did not use it that much because i have opencockpits hardware (EFIS MCP) which was not compatible until i came across some installation files found in the avsim library. I installed them and did a couple of short test flights (eheh eddt). Really loved it.I also own a CDU from vrinsight and this has also the ability to hook up to the b737ngx. And here i guess is where my trouble began.Somewhere in the proces i think i did something wrong and it leaves me with some strange things happening.when i start a new flight it begins it's sequence of selftests and then when the last test is done, a sort of crash sound is heard and th…

Very well written and presented Ryan. There is a ton of depth to this tutorial and I will have to redo it later on. My visual approach with real weather worked out quite well for the first time although I did end up to the left of the runway and had to make my way back. My only problem is the HGS system which just seems to bother me more than help, so I just stowed it and landed visually. Thanks for your work on this.

How can I increase the trim wheel sound? I really want to hear that baby roll. It is extremely loud in the real thing at least according to the youtube videos. Not so much in this soundset. Everything else seems perfect though. I set sound volume in the fmc options to 100 and still the sound is not that loud.

Hi guys, I've just come across an issue that has suddenly appeared and one that I have not previously had an issue with. I load a flight with the NGX, and the moment the aircraft appears it rolls forward. It's not a deal breaker, but it pushes the aircraft away from where it should be! Any ideas on this guys?

Took off without programming the FMC -- is there a way to program a destination while in midair? It seems like I can't input anything without putting a departure point first, but thats impossible while you're in flight.

Hi guys, as long as I have the NGX, I mostly flew arround with Southwest´s birds and the real cockpit setting. I´ve noticed that Southwast uses that "Single Cue" mode for the Autopilot. I wonder why they´fve choosen that setting over the "single axis" setting which is (at least from my perspective) a lot easier to use. Does anyone know wyh they´ve choosen it?

I've been having some AP issues lately... obviously a PEBKAC problem but I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Most of my flights are with very light payload and fuel... usually 1/3 fuel and 40-50% loading. I usually get around 135-140 V2 speed and set that in the MCP. Perhaps this is my first mistake? Am I to be setting V2+20 or V2 into the MCP? Second, after takeoff I pitch up to about where the command bar tells me (normally 12-15 deg) and after 400 ft engage CMD A with VNAV and LNAV armed. Since I'm so light the thing sometimes rockets upwards and if I've got a low altitude set in the MCP (and FSX will bust it for sure) I basically have to override the …
