Here is the new cockpitless warbirds rumors say it will be released on May 25th 2012. Do you like it ? Which model is ?

  4. First the P51 then the Zero now the P40, I'm just about done expecting and/or hoping. I gave Flight a chance but the repeat cockpitless birds is very troubling and annoying. I hope (and do mean hope) Microsoft starts getting serious with this title. Game or not don't start off releasing very good models then regressing into Arcade mode. At least Arcade games give you something to shoot at. Flight without the simulation is just a confused play on what it could be. A title that has no point whatsoever....

  5. Started by Sigma54,

Just wanted to share my point of view of Flight as a beginner and how it got me interested in flight simulation. I started this as a reply to another thread but given it was so long, I thought I should put it into it's own thread. The way I see it, and I may of course be wrong!, is that Flight will add some of the missing features that were in previous versions of FS (there are listed radio frequencies for weather and air traffic at airports which would be very odd to put in if there were no intentions whatsoever to implement it at some point). Also, if you click on an airport to pull up the airport info, there are greyed out boxes to the left of the Job Board and Tak…

I have a Core i7 950, tons of RAM, and a GTX 560 ti, but find I get the best results in Flight by using a max of "High" and not "Maximum" in all of the graphics settings. And the game still looks very good. I'm just wondering if anyone with a similar system runs "maximum" without getting stutters once in a while? I get them if I run "maximum". Perhaps someone out there has come up with some ideal nVidia Inspector settings for Flight?

To my understanding, I have all the flight aids turned off yet all my turns are always coordinated (with my feet off the pedals). Yeah, the ball on the turn-bank flops around a little but basically stays centered. Any config setting I've missed?

  8. Now the P-40, an addition to the P-51, and the A6M2 Zero, sure it is not combat flight simulator still, but the skies are getting full of war planes without cockpits. I'm afraid this will be the direction in which flight is turnning to. Only the maule, as a civilian aircraft has been released. What do you think guys?

Whenever I go to take off in the Maule, it veers horribly to the left, until I crash or go to the map. It doesn't always do this, and I don't think it does it if I go through all the checklists first...what could the problem be?

From marketplace.xbox.com but ranking on Steam is the same. Only differenceon Steam: Starter Bundle incl. Maule and P51 is Nr.1 instead of normal Hawaii DLC : No quantity, just ranking. At least an indicator. Not counting the free DLC (preview) 1- Hawaiian Islands DLC 2- Maule 3- P51 Mustang 4- A6M Zero

Hi I was flying free flight in the PT 17 and I made an emergency landing in a field. The brakes being what they are I rolled off into the trees. Now the airplane is stuck with it's wing against a tree and it just won't move away from it. When I exit free flight and re-enter it puts me back in the same spot. How do I reset it so that I can start over. This happened yesterday and I've shut the game down and restarted a number of times and I'm still stuck. Thanks for the help. Mike

I'm wondering if anyone else finds the Maule much more 'twitchy' compared to the other planes (RV6, Icon, Stearman)? I find that with any sort of wind, it requires more or less constant adjustments to maintain heading and level flight. Crosswinds seem to lift up the windward wing at low speeds (less than 120 kts) although that would seem to make some sense. I'm just wondering if the Maule requires any special trimming or perhaps an optimal speed that helps to make it more stable and less 'twitchy'?

Ok hopefully this is my last dumb question, but everytime you start the game it seems to take you to your last place when you exited the game last. In the Ion I am running out of fuel, how do I fill the thing up again? I have to assume it at an airport, but where? Thanks again everyone...

Those of us in the computer industry will be familiar with the 'hype cycle' With Flight we've been through the peak of inflated expectation (this is going to be FS-11, DLC will fix the shortcomings, Microsoft are listening/care....) and are clearly in the trough (this is a POS, MS are *****, they just want kiddies spending their parents money). This is good news! The slope of enlightenment awaits ... there will be some good DLC eventually, the user community are finding kernels of expandability, MS are just a company that need to make money to feed their children / Porsche / habits, Flight is just a bit of fun and not an obsession. Cheers Keith

Hi, I could catch most of the waterfalls aerocaches by flying low, fast and straight in the direction of the aerocache then doing an Immelmann turn ; on the picture linked the aerocache is supposed to be between N°1 and N°2 positions.

  16. I stumbled on something that was new to me. Since the Warbirds don't have cockpits you can't control the mixture. I was trying out the P-40 by switching to in a Saved flight I have of "Over Mona Kea" with the RV6A at 14,000 feet. When I came back after the switch to the P-40, it was losing altitude and stalling. I switched to the Zero and got the same thing. I quickly switched out again and turned "manual Mixture Control" back to Auto mode. Back to Mona Kea and the Zero came alive with a puff of smoke from the engines. I tried the P-40 and it was flying normal again. I am in "Manual Mixture Control" by default because I have been flying so many Cargo smuggling…

Having resisted the P-51, Zero and P-40 thus far (due to the obvious lack of VC) I'm tempted to give one of them a try out of curiosity...maybe for aerobatics and the like. Is there anything that makes one of the three stand out? Any suggestions of which one to go for?

  18. Hi, Why should Microsoft support TrackIR? No, seriously. This seems sort of backwards to me. All of the movement can already be accomplished by various inputs, so it seems that the makers of TrackIR should spend there time and money making their product compatible. As I'm not a TrackIR user I'd rather MS devoted their time and money to something I would benefit from. But personal preferences aside, would it make economic sense to Microsoft? For FSX, I recall a reading of a freeware program being developed which used a webcam to accomplish the same thing as TrackIR. If MS pursued something along these lines it seems that Flight would have greater appeal; greater…

The Camera snapshot view within the cockpit is pretty good. It looks nicer than what I can get with either the Zero or Mustang. Yeah, I know it's not a VC but not bad for a few bucks.

  20. On my 7200 RPM HDD, Flight takes at least 3-4 minutes to start, which just seems way too long. So how long does it take to start for you? Start timing when you open the shortcut and stop timing when the home screen comes up. Please mention what type of hard drive you're using as well.

... Mustang! I am no fan of combat airplanes. At all. The last time I salivated over one, I was 15 years old. :LMAO: It was the F-15E, the trainer, my two-seat fantasy so that I could take my date along, who at the time was Brigitte Bardot! Otherwise, the only combat planes I like are from the Great War, that is WWI for all you youngster who were not yet born. (Although Tom and I were already kicking back then... ) Give me a SPAD or a Nieuport anytime, although I'll also take a Jenny or a Pup. But, MGS gave me the Mustang, it is rude to refuse a gift, so what the heck... I am flying it. Yes, I know what you are thinking... Yet another 15-year old gam…

The other day someone mentioned Trackir, and I mentioned that the Trackir Devs had begged for MS to include functionality in Flight well over a year ago (and that MS basically had no promises). I couldn't remember where I read the thread, but just found it here http://forum.natural...50794#Post50794 Nothing profound in the post by the Trackir devs, but just illustrates how difficult it will be to get MS to include Trackir support (if at all).

First off, new here, just joined after finding these forums on Microsoft Flight. I am not new to Microsoft Flight Simulators, but new to MS Flight. I have the basic free game and was thinking of making my first purchase of the Maule. First off any complaints about this plane? My only concern is the price seems a bit steep but oh well. Does it have a VC? Lastly I keep hearing of flying passengers, how is this done, is it one of the challenges with this plane? Thanks everyone in advance...:)
