Somebody here, can't remember who, very sorry, commented about flying in fog and how a lighthouse was lit up, the lighthouse seemed to be a rotating type. Perhaps there was even an accompanying video, although memory fails me (don't laugh, it will happen to you soon enough ) Anyway, I would like to file some feedback on that since as far as I know all lighthouses nowadays are of the flashing type. Has anybody noticed a rotating lighthouse in the game? Thanks very much for your help. Best regards. Luis

Hi, Now that the negative criticism has been reined in I wonder about any long term effects. I can't imagine that the development team was very appreciative. Trying to balance smooth operation, attention to detail and attracting new flyers seems a formidable task and then to have their best efforts repeatedly trashed must have been very discouraging. It's hard for me to imagine that the developers have been inspired to do a better job but I think that may have been what some of the complainers had in mind. Also, I find myself more annoyed with the shortcomings of FSX than previously. I think this is largely due to the criticism of Flight as much as a simple compa…

The "fog" landing challenges in FLIGHT are great, but thankfully rather unrealistic according to RL criteria... Following that great "BIG VOR TOPIC" Jeroen could now start a "BIG ILS TOPIC" :-) Take for instance the "PHTO ILSRW26 Challenge"... In RL that landing would be impossible, at least if flown according to IFR rules, and on that particular aircraft, so, those who feel down because they arrive at the rw completly "out of sync", don't think it is that difficult in RL, unless you are performing a CAT I / II or III approach on a properly equipped airplane! Also for such approaches other navaids are usualy available, co-located with the initial/mid/final app…

I have a set of Saitek Rudder Pedals. After the past two patches the toe brakes still do not work. I just wanted to be sure that I did not miss something. Forgive me if I am hammering an old subject but it makes those taildraggers tough. Thanks, Ron

Anyone who looks out at the top of the RV's wings can't help seeing strange little vanes sticking up from it. I'm guessing they are either reducing drag, changing the wing's stall characteristics, or increasing lift, but would be interested to hear what they really do (in real life) and are they a common feature on wings...

I just starting thinking about the way FSUIPC currently communicates with FS, all versions. Even though the architecture with FLIGHT has changed from that of FS, I would think in theory, a new FSUIPC could be created that uncovers the memory locations for peeking/poking just like FSUIPC does now with FSX. Surely someone could expose the proper offsets and be able to build addons for FLIGHT just like is being done today with the legacy of FS. Any ideas? Pete Dowson, if you're there would you like to chime in?

P-40 Famous for its "shark mouth" paint jobs, the P-40 was one of the most popular Allied fighter planes in WWII. This classic aircraft's agility makes it ideal for tests of maneuverability such as collecting Aerocaches. The version in Microsoft Flight is the P-40B, with a 1000 HP in-line V-12 engine and a top speed of over 300 knots. No Cockpit view is included. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ https://microsoftfli.../marketplace/#5

Has anyone figured out if it is possible to find the individual flight hours per aircraft type? I know I can see the total number of aircraft flown, and the flight hours for the favorite aircraft (I assume the highest hour plane through the Flight interface, but are the individual numbers hidden in a file somewhere? Thanks, and happy flying

Since it appears that Flight is using the same source data as the previous sims, collected several years ago, current published information on real-world airports and navaids is not 100% accurate for Flight. I discovered this by accident when I recently noticed that the Kona VOR in Flight is at the old location, several miles south of the new location shown on current charts. Luckily, I'm using a 10-year-old sectional, so my paper chart is actually correct. I'm interested in acquiring older sectional charts of Alaska, if I can find them, for use with Flight in the future. I'm assuming that they will also prove more suitable than current data. Digitizing them for t…

Found this nice map which shows all official and military airports in Alaska. Roundabout 300 all together. That should be enough content for a while :) http://www.dot.state.ak.us/stwdplng/mapping/dataproducts/Public_Airports_August2011.pdf

Hi I'm planning to build a new PC in June/July and I think I'll use the W8 Consumer Preview as my main OS until W8 is released. My only concern is that Flight might not be compatible. So does anyone know if it will work? Flight is quite new so my guess is that it should work fine.

I've spent the last couple of days working on bettering my Challenge scores trying to get gold on as many as possible. Tonight I spent a good amount of time on Maule Landing Challenge 3, and after a couple of hours, the best I could do was bronze. Until of course I discovered that my engine wasn't on... Ooops. It seems that for whatever reason when I load that challenge, the engine is off. Now at first I thought it was SUPPOSED to be off, that was the challenge, dead stick in with gusting crosswinds. I even saw that message about your engine not running, press b to start and just thought it was there, same as when you run out of fuel, but I never actually pressed b. …

After many years with the dang joy stick sliding around my desk or holding it precariously in my lap I decided to do something about it. A piece of 2X4 and some scrap laminate flooring top and bottom, good old drywall screws and zip ties and I think I got it. I have been useing it for weeks and it does the job for me. Thing is, I can just move it out of the way when I don't need it. I know when I get foot pedals this will not work so well. But right now my corrdinated turns are much smoother. I want to stay with a flight stick and don't really want to clamp anything to the desk so options are limited. What type of devices are other people using for staybility. Did it…

I don't remember if I had one of these as a child. Like all children, I probably didn't draw anything particularly interesting and worthwhile for lack of artistic training or talent. But, now that I am older and have become a 15-year old gamer , I can at last use the Etch A Sketch to advantage. Here is the ... Stearman! Well, I still don't have any artistic talent, so it isn't much. :LMAO: And you don't have to come into this thread to tell me that and spoil my fun, thank you. :Loser: The Stearman was not my favorite airplane at first, but I have learned to like it a lot. But, then, I like all the airplanes in Flight. Even, and particularly, Kevi…

I just looked at the Aerocache of the day for April 15 (Kalohi-Pallolo Channels) and think there is a problem with the instructions. It states to fly the intersection of Lanai VOR on the 210 radial, the Maui VOR on the 88 radial, and the Molokai VOR 285 radial. VOR radials extend away from VOR on the magnetic course indicted by the number. Therefore, the stated radials do not intersect. If the reciprocal of the given VOR radials is used, they do intersect. This would make the instruction state Lanai VOR 030 radial, Maui VOR on the 268 radial, and the Molokai VOR on the 105 radial. Just a thought. I haven't finished flying it yet, but I think I have a better …

Just thought I'd share a nice flying experience that I had with Flight this afternoon. Inspired by J van E's pictures on 'the big VOR topic' thread, I had been practicing some VOR flying, between Upper Paauilo and Honakaa, heading up and back down that Hilo VOR in various weather conditions, when I was joined on one the little strips by a guy in a Stearman. So, we started chatting via the text box, before moving to voice (that does work well) to simplify chatting. Turns out the guy had only flown FS2004 before, and was just feeling out the free big island and wondering whether to get the Maule or the other islands. After some lazy flying around together and some c…

Hey, everyone. Yesterday I had to reinstall Windows 7 on my PC. But now I'm having a little (big) problem using Flight. After installing it, when I try to login into Live I get a message that says the product key is already in use by another account. If I visit my profile in Games for Windows Live, I can only see this same product key, which the game says is already in use. Anyone now if this is a common problem? How am I supposed to find another key? Thanks.

The presentation of the 3rd VC-less aircraft isn't hopeful to which direction MS seems to develop their new product. For instance, When looking at the achievements to obtain: 20,000 hrs of flying 1.000.000 million passenger transported 200.000 pounds transported 10.000 landings etc.etc. I'v flight about 50 hours now, I hope MS doesn't think I will fly once more 19.550 hours with recent equipment? Or make still 250.000 missions with the Maule to transport each time 4 passengers? I suppose MS's marketing-strategy is to obtain time (and funds) between the launches of each DLC. In that development-period they try to satisfy (and hold) their customers: new planes, …
