Anyone know the total number of Aerocaches that have been released? Did a quick search and could not find any sites listing all of them. I have completed 110 (this does not include "curvature of the earth"). With the recent save issues and the two-a-day caches, just wondering how many I may have missed. -ed

Well after not touching fsx in months, I thought I would try it out again, and go fly somewhere other than hawaii. Well, I loaded up a free flight in a cessna, and wow!!! I immediatly noticed how unrefined everything looked.(no addons) the scenery and autogen-yikes! And the cockpit lighting-wow! I doubt I will ever use fsx again since I would need lots of addons to bring it anywhere near flight. Also, the performance....yuk. Anyway, I know lots of people hate flight. ( haters gonna hate) ,but I say it's a 100% improvement over fsx in so many ways...just be patient and positive and more will come to flight in time...all in good time.

  4. Well, the Nvidia 301.42 drivers are out, officially out of beta, as of this morning. I haven't tried them yet, and I'm at work now, but you never know what new awesome frame rates they may bring to MSF. Or they will crash the program harder than me trying to fly through the Hawaii Keyhole. If anybody who uses an Nvidia card notices a frame rate increase (to an already solid frame rate generally) in Fight, let me know. I do love me some new drivers! oops Sorry Stephen I just noticed that my post belongs in the drivers thread. My bad, and my apologies.

This Island in FLIGHT does seem ominous!..No signs of the Life living there...Interesting that in WW2..... " The Niʻihau Incident (or Battle of Niʻihau) occurred on December 7, 1941, when Japanese Zero pilot Shigenori Nishikaichi crash-landed on the Hawaiian island of Niʻihau after participating in the attack on Pearl Harbor. The island's Native Hawaiian residents were initially unaware of the attack, but apprehended Nishikaichi when the gravity of the situation became apparent. Nishikaichi then sought and received the assistance of three locals of Japanese descent in overcoming his captors, finding weapons, and taking several hostages. In the end Nishikaichi was …

  6. I'v seen so many reactions on this forum e.g.: please give us ..., no more ..., i would like ... There are various threads in which members post there hopes or to what MS would/should/hopes to develop this product. Is it useless energy? Should one only just focus on the gameplay(advises)? Are there members who have seen that their mail/reactions to the producer of the game are followed. If you whish to react, I suggest only facts. Feelings/opinions have been posted enought in other threads. Thanks for reading

  7. I think I just found something a few people have been wanting.... Somebody posted early on about how the "InitialPbh" (Pitch, Bank, Heading) parameter could be added to the Cameras.CFG file to adjust your default viewing direction. For example... InitialPbh=7.0 ...causes your default view to be looking down 7 degrees. But, a lot of people have expressed interest in being able to shift the actual camera itself around. This can be done manually with the Eyepoint keys or buttons, but I just found that the "InitialXyz" parameter can also be added to Cameras.CFG to move the default Eyepoint. So, pressing the "Reset View" button doesn't go to the "standard" p…

...Computer games aren't supposed to be educational! (If you are a mod, you can take your finger off the ban button now!) Take yesterdays Aerocache of the Day, the USS Utah. I've always had an interest in the Pearl Harbor attack and the pacific theater in general. I remember watching Tora, Tora, Tora with my grandfather when I was a kid and he would often explain what happened in those days. My father was a child in Honolulu on Dec 7th 1941. I visited Pearl two years ago and took in as much of the history as I could. One of the most moving experiences in my life, was visiting the Arizona Memorial, seeing the names on the wall, and watching the oil ooze up to the…

So with these new nvidia drivers, I was having issue playing Flight in surround. I could get the game to maximize to my 5760x1080+ resolution, but anytime I would click in game, the game would minimize and I would be at my desktop. What appears to be happening is the game was not taking over control of the mouse. After some messing around I realized this issue is tied to the new Nvidia environment control - now nvidia will maximize a window to a single screen, even if you are in surround mode (which is a great improvement!). However, with this enabled you cannot use your mouse in game. To fix this with the nvidia control panel open, on the top menu click Des…

  11. Plugginless, FLIGHT IS PLUGGINLESS or better said PLUGGIN-FREE... The word pluggin sounds in Portuguese pretty much like the portuguese word for flea, so, I hate to have to use pluggins to overcome some stuppid simulator limitations/bugs, sometimes precisely related to those features I really expect to find acceptably modelled on a flightsim. Today, while rumbling accross a few other community forums here at AVSIM I found a few posts dealing with pluggins to overcome this or that... Not realy needing such a thing in FLIGHT is a blessing!!!!!

I've just started with Flight and there is a heck of a lot that I like about it.I am a long term FSX user with far too many add-ons than is good for my bank account, and I am picky about realism - but as we all know there is a debate about realism actually amounts to. Anyway, I've been trying to find a developers forum, ie, a forum in which develpoers talk to customers etc, but can't and I am wondering what they are going to do with the project. There seems to be a fair consensus that there are things that are great and things that coudl be done much better. Forgive me if people have already discussed this but have the developers said whether they are going to do things l…

  13. Hi, I previously posted this as a suggested replacement for the inaccurate hint: "5,000 feet. 210 degrees to the Lanai VOR, 88 to Maui VOR, 285 to Molokai VOR." Apparently this was still confusing. Here's an alternate that defines the same location: "5,000 feet. On the Lanai VOR 30 radial, the Maui VOR 88 radial, and on the Molokai VOR 285 radial." Jim F.

I really admire all you guys who are using the navaids, the VOR/DME, ILS, NDB, and TACAN (well, we can expect future aircraft to have an ADF Receiver and Indicator, but as for the TACAN, we'll need a combat airplane with cockpit. ) And I hope that Jeroen and others will start looking into ded. reckoning, an older style method of navigation that doesn't need navaids at all, although it is helpful to know prevailing winds. Oh, and you will need a chart and a pencil, not very technical at all. But, as for me, I fly IFR exclusively! That is "I Follow Roads". This is an even older method of navigation that senior pilots often used way back when. :LMAO: Just look …

I just picked up microsoft flight not to long ago and been loving it, bought the starter pack via steam and have been flying the maule everywhere, only problem I have is landing. I usually come in around 55 kts with my flaps fully extended, and touch down on all 3 at the same time, being as its a taildragger should I still flare? How do you land the maule usually? I've read somewhere you land with the front two wheels first then the back touches down, only problem is im afraid if i go for the first to wheels first ill descend to rapidly and crash

Hi all, I own flight, fsx, and xp 10 and for the last week I have not been able to fly any thing but flight really like the way the planes behave in the winds and how the winds interact with the terrain. One thing I was hoping any one here could help me with was how to increase the left-- right panning speed when I am in the VC it seems to slow . I have a yoke and a stick and I notice that when I use both hat switches at the same time its about the speed I want. of course having to use both switches is a pain. I was hoping there is somewhere to adjust this setting in the CFG. file any help would really make my day . ! thanx in advance

So I'm flying the ICON at night to get the Rabbit Island cache. I fiddle with the nob attached to the Altitude guage, which also has a small insert of numbers that's set at 29.92 . As I play with the nob, the altitude reading changes and the 29.92 changes to other small amounts. What did i do, and what does IT do? Is 29.92 barometric pressure, 'cause I don't know what I'm talking about. I landed on water and set the Altitude Guage back to zero, but is sea level zero? And why would the altitude reading change. I even swirtched ICONs and altitude stayed the same. (I was hoping it would reset.)

  21. I'll preface my tip by saying I am in no way affiliated with MS, Bing, Bill gates, Josh Howard, AVSIM, or anyone connected to these fine people/organizations. And I will see no financial gain by posting this, but you will. I've seen a few posts about Aeorcaches and people using Google to research the daily hunts. This is costing you real money. Having only learned about this in the past few days, I thought I'd share for those of you who don't know. Go to the Xbox site and under the "Xbox Live" tab, click on "Xbox LIVE Rewards" and enroll in the program. Make sure you are signed in under your primary gamertag. People like myself who concentrate on scenery have a God complex - we want to recreate the world with as much realism and detail as we can. An impossible task; only God could do that, but we try and try. When Gerrish Gray (R.I.P.) came out with his fabulous trees library all the way back in the year 2000 (how time flies!), many of us were delighted. He brought a lot of great detail to the game when there was none to speak of; autogen had not yet been invented! I loved his trees, but they were generic, although quite varied. He inspired and encouraged me to make some of my own. So, I embarked on an extensive research project to learn about trees and vegetation for …

  25. Hi everyone. Have not spent a lot of time on this forum, but have had a lot of questions answered here, so am posing this question- the second RV-6 Landing Challenge has gotten the better of me. I'm greedy for the Gold, but have never reached it--max of 1432 pt I think. Here is the issue--the set up invites one to descend down to Kalaupapa against a 29 knot headwind with a strong right to left component. I have tried every trick I know of, varying degrees of flaps, speed, using a crab approach, a side-slip, and combinations. I can get nearly 500 pts for a soft landing and center line contact, but the sideskid score has always been under 350. Then, to be perverse, I …
