For the last few years I have grown accustomed to using a mouse and keyboard as my primary controls for flight simulators and I actually prefer them over a flight stick, mostly because I can't stand trying to fly smoothly with a rigid, resistant stick shaking back and forth. So now, after a long period of reluctance, I downloaded Flight and initially enjoyed it, until I tried some aerobatics. I quickly noticed that no matter how hard I tried, I could barely bank more than 40 degrees or so. I obviously went and disabled the stability assist but that had no effect. I tried out a joystick to confirm that this is an issue exclusive to using a mouse and naturally I was abl…

I have installed flight to see myself what it is. I am used to fsx but will see. I got a message during startup that the controllers old out of date( which is not the case). But the keyboard is not working (g15 of logitech) and also my PFC quadrant throttle. Anyone an idea what I can do best because I cannot fly with flight due to this reason. In fsx all is working perfect.

Flying a job, 153 miles to Dillingham with a 8knt quartering tail wind. Really rough air, had to hand fly all the way, would not hold a heading. Ok, find the airfield and land, will not trigger. Take off again and land from the other end, still no trigger, grrrrr. No choice but to take off again and do a nose dive into the ground, ouch. Back to the checkpoint and land again, all is OK. In the PITCH dark. Still say the runway lights are not near as bright as they should be. I remember very intense lights, not spread out blobs. Almost 10,000 points anyway. My hands are shaking, this is why I love flight, never had that feeling with ANY other flight simulator, a game, not to…

  5. I was wondering how Alaska would be treated, in respect to the boundary of the state. Clearly Canada or Russia will not be available to fly over, unless MS implements a barren wasteland of no scenery once you flew over the border (actually that is probably accurate for some locations!). That would look goofy though. My guess is that they will model only specific parts of the state (the parts that tourists know), and once you flew far enough North/West/South/East beyond that modeled scenery your fuel supply would be exhausted. Just my guess...

You learn something new every day. From a couple thousand feet above ground many things look like dirt strips that, upon closer approach, are just strips of dirt.

Perhaps some people feel frustrated and believe that Microsoft Game Studios is not engaged in a dialogue nor attentive to the wishes of its users. This is nothing new, it has always been this way, and is probably very common in many other areas of life. There are very understandable reasons for the relative silence from MGS and it is interesting to consider some of them: - Believe it or not, the developers have work to do, a lot of work. Many of them work late into the night, a few spend all night at work (not healthy at all) because of all they have to do. So, they don't really have a lot of time to spend discussing their work with the hundreds of users and resp…

  9. Hello, another new guy. I would consider myself mostly a casual flight simmer, I enjoyed FS9 and FSX, but haven't flown a virtual plane in a few years. A few times I wanted to load up FSX again, along with all my Flight1 and PMDG stuff, but my version wouldn't install on my system, so I dropped it. A friend and I were talking one day about how great it would be if MS made a new flight sim. I decided to google, and ha, they are! And it's out in like a month! I were excited. And still am, I *love* Flight. I think MS has done a great job so far, it looks fantastic, and I can't wait to see what it's like in another year or two when they have had time to beef it up. In FS9…

Jumping into Flight today I had an afternoon to kill so I thought I would do a long distance charter job of 230miles. I managed to get into the air despite a strong crosswind doing it`s best to blow me off the runway and settled in for a nice long, relaxing flight. I had the weather set as `among the giants' so there was quite a strong headwind to fly into but this never bothered me too much, it just meant having to keep an eye on my heading so as not to drift too far off course. All was hokey cokey - until 10miles from the destination I ran out of fuel! Aaargh!! All that time wasted . I thought I had enough fuel on board to manage but obviously flying into the headwind u…

  13. If you have CH controllers then you can use CH Control Manager, which greatly enhances the MS Flight experience. I recently acquired a CH Fighterstick and a CH Pro Throttle. The attached document details the capabilities I discovered when experimenting with CH Control Manager. Is seamless with MS Flight configurations. You use this with MS Flight configs, not instead of MS Flight configs. Protects you from lost control configurations in MS Flight. Maps ANY keyboard command to controller buttons, and allows you to mix keyboard commands with flight control commands on 4-way switches. Corrects the 90-degree offset in the Pro Throttle hat switch. Allows controller b…

While it may look like a joke for many of you FLIGHters, this was quite an achievment for me :-) Today I woke up early in the morning and decided to get a few more Aerocaches in Hawaii. Picked the RV for the job, and after 1 hr I increased my total # of aerocaches from a mild 20 to 51!!! Whow! Got an achievment award for it, and only quited FLIGHT because meanwhile she woke up :-)... Looking fwd to seat at the controls of my virtual RV or Maule, or even the Zero (the cockpitless I fly the most, with the p-40 being the less flown of all Hangar aircaft in FLIGHT) I can't avoid thinking what a dramatic impact FLIGHT had on me regarding the use of a flightsim. Do you …

  17. Hi - hope I'm posting this in the right forum. Point One: I'm a complete newb to flight sims (please, forgive me!), and I've got a problem with the Stearman Aerobatics mission. Point Two: I'm on the tarmac with no fuel, becuase I ran out of fuel trying to complete the mission! There's no fuel available at this airport. Even if I fuel the Stearman up in the hangar I still have no fuel when I start the mission - it won't start up, either by hitting 'B' or 'Q' for the checklist. I can't bring up the map to take me to a different airport with fuel - 'M' doesn't work. I'm playing this on Steam (if that's relevant - what do I know?! See Point One LOL). Am I: …

  18. Hello guys, Since the Flight is out, I am playing it almost every day for several hours. Three days ago I had problems with some malware and viruses and I had to reinstall Windows. Formatted my hard drive but I saved the things that I need, and one of that things is my MS Flight profile folder, cause I didn't want to loose my in-game progress. After a fresh Windows installation, I downloaded MS Marketplace and GFW Live application, and installed MS Flight with add-ons, Hawaii Adventure pack and Maule plane. I started the game, tried to log in with my one and only MS Live account, and one and only gaming profile, and after a window "Downloading game profile" (or somethin…

Hello All I am pretty new to flight sims. I am totally new to VOR naviagation. I have read through a few posts, such as the venerable The big VOR topic by J van E, and others. I've also looked through a few tutorials....basically I am begging tolerance if I am asking questions that I should have already figured out myself. On the Maule...using the ILS....where is the altitude needle? On the RV-6 there is one needle indicating horizontal position from the VOR on the "wagon wheel", and one for vertical, thus allowing me to land on the correct glide slope. I cannot find a vertical needle on the Maule's instruments. I don't know how to adjust my altitude on the way…

  20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZWC_2MjExk&feature=player_embedded For those who like the Icon A5 in Flight, there is a new video out about this facinating aircraft. Its about the spin/stall resistance of the Icon and its very informative! It seems that the Icon guys are doing a great job on making this aircraft a reality. This was truly one of the highlights for me when working on MS Flight. Sadly with all the developments at Icon, the Flight's visual model is no longer accurate. Thats the risk you take when modeling a work in progress! Same thing happened with the SF-50 in FSX (Cirrus Vision).

regards I open this topic to talk about possible DLCs that could leave after this year, but we all know the secrecy with which Microsoft has all the DLCs related topic, I hope this post can serve to fill that hole we all have to new product output and of course, be channeled into a pleasant and calm discussion about what we like to see in Flight, we can say that will be a topic parallel to scruffyduck.

As I was going for today's Aerocache, the storage buildings at John Rogers field, I crashed into something just short of the cache. Turns out there seems to be an invisible layer covering the storage buildings. I can land on it, taxi around on top of the buildings and take off again. I can taxi through the trees to the north of the row of buildings and the open space between the trees and the large cluster of buildings. If you go far enough north or over the edge of the buildings to the south, you fall off. I once crashed into something invisible at 2500ft agl, so I guess these are just terrain height anomalies? I remember some weird canyons in Alaska in FSX or 9 that…

  23. Just installed a Gigabyte GTX 670 OC version upgrading from a GTX 280. Had been trying to decide between a 570 or 580, then read the release reviews on the 670 . The Gigabyte 670 OC version was getting high praise, reportedly beating the stock 680 in some tests and showing significantly higher results than the last gen 580 cards. It also was mentioned it had a arguably better full board design compared to other 670 models. Reading it ran cooler and quieter got me heading to the store just before they ran out. Anyhow, the improvement running Flight is incredible! My test case was outside Honolulu flying at 800' in towards the airport over the city, …
