  1. Hi folks! Do you guys think that MS will release the next USA DLC's state by state or by regions? I´m wondering that because if that is the case it would take about 12 years to release just the US... I personaly prefer small and well desined DLC maps, but i don´t know how they are going to keep it up, because in 12 years the first DLC would be really outdated in terms of design and graphics... Any ideas on that?

  2. I am trying to set up Flight to work in Windowed Mode so that I can run flight on my main monitor and use Gplan on the second monitor.Similar to my FSX set up which works fine. I am using Windows 8 RP x64 and to date everything has been excellent. I have the Full screen option unchecked in Flight options and windowed mode works OK with just one monitor but when set up with two it starts momentarily in windowed mode before reverting to full screen and overlapping both monitors. I have a Nvidia 9800 GTX + and as I say it has no problem with the same set up in FSX. I have read before of this set up in Flight being used successfully and would be delighted to receive any ge…

  3. Hi everyone, I really enjoy playing Microsoft Flight with my old Sidewinder Joystick which only has X and Y axis. The problem with this, as some of you may know, is that you must press the A and D keys for rudder control that makes taxing in airports annoying. Now this really bothers me because I can't taxi using only my joystick as I did with FSX (auto rudder) and I don't want to spend money buying another one with the fancy twist function. So I found a way to go around this issue. The goal is to make Flight think that your Joystick is the mouse (because there is auto rudder when you fly with the mouse). Doing this will require changes in the standard.xml file.…

to something else? To me, Flight seems to have stalled. Impressive start but poor follow-up. No desiirable DLC for ages. No idea where the game is going. I personally have almost, but not quite, lost interest in Flight. The quality is good but the content is slow, slow, slow. Where to from here?

  5. Couple of questions on this challenge, I am guessing that one is stuck with a night only approach to this airfield which looks like it is lit with one 25 watt bulb. It appears that there is no landing light visible from the aircraft, is that correct, cause I can't find anyway to toggle the LL on? I have already managed to crash multiple times and the closest I got to the runway was hitting the stripe lines on the departure end. :Nerd: Anyone have any luck nailing this one?

... you might like this link: http://celticowboy.com/AV2/index.htm It's a history of Chance Vought, his company, and his aircraft. Much material on the F4U. The cover picture juxtaposes the Corsair, the F4U, and the Corsair II, the A-7. Which reminds me of an anecdote.... I was in the instrument stage of the Navy's advanced flight training program at Kingsville TX in 1967 when a hurricane headed our way. I got a call at the BOQ to pack a bag, because I was going on a cross-country series of instrument training flights. All the aircraft, Grumman F-9 Cougars, were to be evacuated. One night during the trip, my instructor and I ended up at the O club …

I just got a new Dell Desk Top this week and , downloaded a bunch of programs that I had on my older PC, with zero problems. This afternoon I tried downloading MS Flight, and 3 times now, it has stopped somewhere in the middle of the download with a message that their is a " network problem". Since I have never had that before, and with this new PC, haven't so far, I am wondering if anyone else has experienced the download crashing before it was complete? Thanks.

  9. Hi guys, it's me again, as you can see by the thread title, once more I'm a little stuck. I've been watching a few youtube videos in which people are navigating from airport to airport using only VOR navigation, there doesn't appear to be a tutorial for this within MS Flight, unless I'm yet to do a mission that involves it. So I was just hoping that some kind sole could show me the basics? As I'm sick of missing my approach to some of the runways etc... And my eyesight is not the best. Thanks in advance !

  10. Hi, I see the reference to fixes to the clouds, improved terrain when Vertical Sync is enabled and reduced flickering of vegetation as promising changes. Not much else sounds like much of an improvement from my perspective. I wasn't aware of most of the problems which were addressed. Apparently we'll still have cockpit flashes and jittery shadows, unrealistic inland water textures, and populated areas that just look goofy in the way they're currently implemented. After Microsoft offered the Hawaii Expansion and aircraft at a discount on Steam I hoped I would have the resolve to hold out on purchasing Alaska until a similar offer was available. With the daily Ae…

Maybe just a hidden wish from me, but i think it fits well into Flight. Flying as bush pilot in south america, this is even more bush flying than Alaska. There is a italian movie from the 70`s about bush pilots flying in brasil, amazonas area. I watched this movie thousand times when i was a child. And i think this movie made me addicted to aircrafts and aviation. The movie is called All The Way, Boys Watch complete movie here: http://www.dailymoti...boys_shortfilms It is/was very famous in italy and germany. A lot of slapstick and nice old aircrafts. Short scene with german dubbed voice. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-gQRnjpsDA Soundtrack: www.youtu…

What's up? I start MS Flight and instead of the map I am flying the Icon, doing the first mission! I can't skip it, I have to end it and now I have to do that second mission too??? How is that possible? The weird thing is that my settings are saved and after completing that first mission, the points were added to my existing total and I am still at the Level where I was...! Anybody else experienced this? I heard about savegames being reset or whatever, but my data is saved, I just have to redo those freakin' missions again...! ???

Its good. I have been somewhat down on some of Flights graphics recently, mostly because other parts of Flight show that the team is more than capable of doing better. Most of the things I dislike have to do with the depiction of cities, and stem from the use of legacy FSX tiles. I hate those things. To me, its like slathering a new house with mud; but putting that aside, and away from those ugly tiles, its whats in these pictures that continues to hold me, and why even with what I believe are preventable failings, I still see so much promise and potential. Away from the cost-cutting and corner cutting, there is a very stunning game in there. With Alaska appro…

The scheduled maintenance on the MS FLIGHT servers tomorrow at the end of the day (UTC), makes me think that Alaska will probably get released before the end of this week. With Alaska I strongly hope things will change regarding what has been pointed out as negative in MS FLIGHT. I believe the new features brought by Alaska will please it's users even more and make some forget about the less interesting aspects of this flight simulation game. We all know that with Alaska more cockpitless aircraft will come, but we also know that the region will be modelled in detail, specially regarding the climatic/weather characteristics that make flight operations in Alaska som…

Been looking for a house all week and while driving around I stopped at a hobby store to stretch my legs a little. While inside I saw this. They had a Stearman as well but the Stearman I wasn't so surprised about, but the Icon was definitely unexpected. They have three of them. Kind of want to buy one! The wingspan is 50-something inches with a 30-something length.

Once RoboRoy clued me in on how to find screen shots (thanks, Robo), I sent a former roommate the following screen cap. (I'm sure readers of this forum will recognize it.) This guy (my former roommate) was a USMC F-4 Phantom GIB, guy-in-back, who retired as the CO of the USMC reserve squadron at Andrews AFB near Washington DC. But he didn't realize this was a screen cap! When I asked if he recognzied this "vista," here's what he replied. ------ Wow, great picture of RW 04 at MCAS Kaneohe (known as Marine Corps Base, Hawaii these days). 7,800 feet long. Not great but barely enough. Landed about 70% of the time on that RW. It was an “uphill slope” which…

  23. So I discovered a couple fun things to do in Hawaii: First one is finding all the VOR stations...I've found a couple so far, and it's pretty fun searching for them. Not too hard to do, but hey...The second thing I do is cliff diving- as in find a cliff and park at the top, then slowly inch you way over and kill the engine. I've actually been able to pull back up with the engine off from the speed you get. The Third and final thing I do alot is looking for landmarks...particularly scenes from movies or weird and unusual things...I've also noticed several observatories throughout Hawaii. Anyways, some things that keep me occupied waiting for Alaska. Have fun!

The flight communications director must have training from the CIA. As usual we have a terse announcement that raises more questions than it answers: Our servers will be down for maintenance tomorrow, June 13, from 4:00-6:00 PM UTC (9:00-11:00 Pacific). Schedule your flights accordingly! Servers? The GFWL servers? The flight multiplayer connection servers? Does flight even have multiplayer connection servers? It had been mentioned before (and taken for granted) that the multiplayer lag was being caused by a Peer to Peer connection system of some sort...... Repeat: they have servers? What sort of maintenance? Should we expect to see some sort of improveme…
