Hi, I just installed Alaska on my desktop. I now want to get Alaska on my laptop. I see, at least some, of the downloaded files in my App Data for Flight. Anyone know if any of the new files can just be copied to my laptop? It would be a lot faster. Jim F.

Hi All, Just noticed this last night. There was a bit of confusion with me and my Maule reserve tanks previously, so I'm prepared to accept this is me. I turned the HUD on to get some wind info, and noticed the fuel discrepancy - or is 50% really 20% in a Maule? Is the HUD not counting my reserve? See below: Thanks jake p.s Jeroen, could you correct the title typo for me, please?

While I can hear the sound of the air flowing past the aircraft and the engine noise as two distinct and seperate sounds, for some reason the noise of my engine only changes up or down depending on the airspeed rather than being tied to the RPMs I have throttled. It's almost as if engine speed and air flow sound are tied together when they should be seperatly modeled. If I decrease the throtte at cruise speed there is no coresponding reduction in engine noise until the plane actually slows down. The engine sound should immediately get lower when decreasing throttle/RPMs while the air flow sound should not get lower until the plane slows. Anyone else notice this?

This had to come from a glider nut of course... I have emailled [email protected] asking for some implementation of slope winds in future DLCs. I believe it will require a change in the core code, and I would really appreciate to know it was coded differently from what we had in fs9/fsx... I noticed while fying the Alaska Stearman landing challenge that, contrarily to what I thought before, there is probably no model of slope winds in MS FLIGHT. At least flying the Carbon Cub under the same weather scenario, with winds gusting to 90 knots, almost perpendicular to the slope, I noticed no lift... We do get updrafts/downdrafts, but nothing really related to …

I am looking at the Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder pedals or the Saitek Cessna Pro Flight pedals. Any input or recommemdation would be greatly appreciated. I had CH analog pedals years ago but on course they will no longer work and did not have toe brakes anyway. Yes, I will also be getting TrackIr5, Amazon has a good deal on both. Thanks.

Hey, while down under still waits for ALaska, I've been flying clandestines when I find them. Took off a bit light. Have leaned mixture back to 10%, airspeed 126kts, 7 % fuel left, 37.6 miles (?) left. Never really thought about it before this flight that u can lean the mixture that much! In real world, at 900ft, would you get such good economy? What would happen to engine? Anything bad?

Found it great to try "Gold" on some challenges... It's quite maneuverable and easy on those "Gold Coin" circuits I was unable to complete... Of course some of the landing challenges in Alaska also bring up it's extraordinary STOL characteristics. The gravel landing challenge under very stron winds, with the tress swaying in the wind, is a must!

I just spent some time talking to a kid on multiplayer i was explaining a bit about flight planing and he ended up ordering the jeppesen flight computer (the metal one ) and also got foreflight for his ipad .I plan on trading some emails with him to help in anyway i can to get him into flight planing that way his simming Gets more realistic . I was looking around Anchorage in google maps and found this oddly shaped lake. I switched to satellite view and WOW, I've never seen so many float planes before. Have a look and be sure to zoom in to see just how many planes there are, and almost every bit of shore has either a plane, or parts of a plane on it. A good Alaska Flight challenge would be "Walk around and find your plane" Hopefully this lake is well represented in Alaska. Also, I hope the fact that they mention 137 floatplane bases means they are going to give us a float plane to use. MS wouldn't make us tool around Alaska in the Icon, would they?

It just occurred to me how much we used to complain about the lakes in Hawaii, how they looked bad because the seemed to be using the same wave textures used for the open ocean. I haven't thought that once about the lakes in Alaska. Why not? Are they looking better, or am I just used to it? So I grabbed some pictures to compare. Hawaii: Alaska: Thoughts?

Yes, yes, glaciers, ho hum! No, just kidding, haven't gotten around to trying to land on glaciers, yet. Just give me time! But, as I was flying from the southernmost point of the scenery (think I'll hit every airport on the way up to the North Slope ), all those ice floes got me wondering what would happen if I ran out of fuel. Could I land on them? This is really STOL, and the Mixed Weather Theme with 30 kt. winds is just more fun. There was never any doubt that I could land on such a short distance with this airplane. But, no time to dally ... that headwind is blowing me backwards towards the edge of the floe. :LMAO: So, the ques…

this is something i posted a few minutes ago in the beta forum to see if i get someones attention. THE PILOT SHOP . Now that we have alaska a much bigger terrain to flight over i was wondering if the team can consider the idea of adding a option that will allow us to walk inside some of the airports that have pilot shop in RW and once we walk inside there could be a poster os something with a picture of a sectional that we can click and it will take us to a site where we can buy RW charts to use with flight and the like ? or even have the option to buy a aditional GPS unit or any other instruments (software wise to add to some of our planes??? . I understand th…

It seems the last update cut the power of the Maule in half? I just tried to do a job with 4 passengers, which I could easily do before the upgrade, but now I can't even reach my destination unless I fly around ever hill and stay close to the water...? I am moving at 80 knots tops in order to not hit the trees...! The Maule was a bit too fast, maybe, but this is too slow...! Unfortunately the Maule is the only plane to do the various jobs with... I will try a 3 passenger job now... BTW I didn't get a message the plane was too heavy.

One thing I noticed tonight in the Maule, is that the landing lights are not anywhere near bright enough. Will have to try some other aircraft, but if they are all like that, this is something that needs to be fixed.

Well! Its out, and I don't think in all the speculation about the price and whatnot that anyone, including me was as silly as to suggest it would all be simply deposited on the floor in front of us gift-wrapped for just $14.99 Considering what I and a lot of others have grown accustomed to paying for these sorts of things, its going to cause a bit of consternation, as I expect it was intended to. So, what did we get for this $14.99? Well for starters, around 600,000 square miles of scenery. Sounds impressive, but if it looked like a dogs dinner, then.... not so much. Fortunately Microsoft seems to have mostly delivered, and in some cases exceeded quite a bit what …

Does anyone manage to trim the RV6A so it can fly straight after the update? It turns left with the trim centered, and turns right with just a litle rudder trim. Any help, thanks!

Mountain passes often serve as flight routes in Alaska, allowing you to stay low rather than climb up high above the mountains, into the clouds, and the icing, and the other muck. If you want to stay low, to see where you're going, and your route takes you across a mountain range, look for a pass. I decided to fly west from Anchorage to Sparrevohn, via Merrill Pass, to find out out what that's like. Setting is Spring when the snow is beginning to melt, and in the morning, so I've got the sun at my back. Weather is Low & Threatening. This is the route through the mountains, just about due west of Anchorage. You should fly right over Beluga airfield on the w…

I am having serious flight problems with MS Flight. All aircraft, and even the mouse' start off with a full bank to the left and and nose down attitude. This make for some very short flights. Even when I attempt a takeoff, as soon as flying speed is reached the left wing is dragging the runway. It is almost like an autopilot (say what?) is turned On with a Left heading selected. Any ideas? I have most of the aircraft, Hawaii and Alaska with the new additional 6 packs installed. In other words, the latest version and up-to-date. I have deselected. reselected, reassigned, cleared out the yoke, joystick, etc. Rebooted, unplugged the USB connectors, etc. …

I keep reading posts that Alaska looks like default FS11 scenery or it's repetitive in most areas. What the heck are you expecting from a wild untouched area? In the real world all you can see is trees and streams with not much else. On the ground without a compass you'd get turned around because everything looks the same. In the air the mountains and lakes are what break up the scenery a bit. It's the wilderness for Christ's sake... I'm shocked to read some of the expectations here and I'm curious as to what your expecting to see. :LMAO:
