This link will give you a complete list of all 734 airports in Alaska. Click on the name of the airport and it will give you all the pertinent data. Might come in handy. http://www.airport-data.com/usa-airports/state/Alaska.html I put the link to show Alaska, but you can also view the airports in any other state also.

Thought I'd start a thread to Microsoft of the Bush Planes we'd like to see in Flight's Alaska. I'll start it off with a few I'd like to see but feel free to pull pics from other sims with excellent Bush planes. Sometime a picture is worth a thousand words. So here's mine taken in Alaska...

Since I've been flying in Alaska, and flew out to the end of the Aleutians, I noticed that the farthest two airports, Adak and Atka, amost always have one or two clandestine jobs. In Hawaii, Kauai usually gave one or two jobs, and a lot of the other jobs were on the big island. Occasionally more centrally located airports had clandestine jobs, but it didn't seem to be as often. I saw a few around Kodiak, don't remember if I ever saw one on Oahu (except Dillingham). Have you noticed any evidence of airports farther away from the center of the map having more chance of clandestine jobs? Airports near the center may have them, but not as frequently. Hook

I noticed when you cut off the engines on the R6 the brakes lock to an on position and flaps instantly/magically go to zero. But then i also noticed the flap thing on all the other planes that have flaps that i have (maule, mustang, orion). Turning the engine off makes them instantly go flat. On the R6 you cant move them afterwards. Also when you turn the engine on, it automatically cranks to 80% throttle. All lighting shuts off too when the engines off. I use to be able to keep my instruments and lights on with fsx while the engines off.

Yea im sure this would have been great to have recorded. I swear to you this really happened... lol OK so im looking for an aerocache.. its the Hinalele Falls one. I locate it. Being its in a spot i cant get to without a helicopter, I will have to go on foot. I circle around in the cub really slow, flaps out low rpm, trying to find the closest place i can where there isnt any trees to try to make a short landing. I find a narrow place between some trees against a hill where i almost plop it right down to a stop. I hit shift-x to set the parking brake the instant the plane comes to a halt, but im on the marvoullous little incline that had helped stop my plane sud…

Thought a fun topic might be airports that you located that were a real challenge to land at. Mine for today, so far , is Old Harbor Airport. 6R7 , landing on runway 21. When you approach from the Northeast, all you see is a forest, and then the very narrow runway surrounded by trees on either side. The Stearman looks like it will make it without hitting the trees, if you are dead center on the runway. Really gets your pulse rate up. By the way, the airport info even warns up the trees, although they say it is just one tree......

Just flying around I saw a remarkable situation. Is it a 'bug' or a natural phenomenon? I you whish, see it yourself. Take off from Hunter Creek (AK66) - north of Cordova Smith Airfield - and fly half a minute on course 066. By the way, the mountainviews on Alaska are great, especially I like the condition: summertime-low and threathening.

http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=xKRsCpx4 It's fairly self-explanatory. The right hand column lists the settings I am using since needing to tweak Flight for Alaska's more demanding locale. It looks almost as good as all max settings, but runs much smoother. Before editing your Flight.cfg, back up both %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Flight and %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Flight to be on the safe side. To edit Flight.cfg go to %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Flight and open Flight.cfg in your text editor of choice. Make sure to set Custom=1. Changes can be made while Flight is running. Pause Flight (ESC), Alt-Tab out of Flight, make changes, save, Alt-Tab back to Flight. My recommended…

So I was messing around in Hawaii with the Cub once again because the Cub is pretty fun to fly. And also because today's aerocache was in Hawaii. The water just looked so tempting with my Cub I decided to play around a bit. I'm sure most have pulled a few stunts near the water surface. While skimming the surface, dipping the wings and so on... I faked a landing on the water, wheels about half submerged. Apparently Flight counts this as an actual landing. Since I was on my 350th landing at the time, the achievement popped up counting it towards my goal of 500. Since I was already in 'screenshot taking mode' I managed to capture this. This was not even near a seaplane …

We shall all soon be moving on to Alaska, but before we do, here is a "news" tidbit that I found hilarious (but, then, I am easily amused ). [cite=url="http://news.yahoo.co...XN0czE-;_ylv=3"' name="AFP" date="06/21/2012" Oracle chief buys Hawaiian island Oracle boss Larry Ellison has bought a Hawaiian island from a fellow multi-billionaire businessman, the governor of the US Pacific Ocean state said. Ellison, co-founder and chief executive officer of the tech giant, has purchased 98 percent of the 141 square mile (365 square kilometer) island of Lana'i from its owner Castle & Cooke, governor Neil Abercrombie said on Wednesday. Castle & Cooke,…

I just flew into Unalaska (PADU) for the first time after a long flight from Adak in the RV-6. It was late afternoon (in winter) when I left, and the sun was getting low as I got close to Unalaska, but I was still in what I thought of as daylight. I flew the approach from the north as per the NDB-A DTP. It has you coming into the bay on an approach course of 166 at 3700. As I turned in to that course and entered the bay, the sun fell below the mountains to the west and all of a sudden it was night. It disoriented me a bit and I didn't get a good glide slope. I could see I was high based on the runway landing lights, and started to drop faster, but the speed picked up …

Just did a passenger trip to Kake Alaska (PAFE). I got a job to fly to an airport I haven't' been to yet in Alaska (not hard to do at this point) and looked it up in the sectionals and got the DTP charts. Noticed it only had a DME localizer. Well, new experience! Dialed up the frequency and started flying in generally the right direction. Quickly figured out how to maximize the rate of closure to figure out the heading to take. Then I even did a seat-of-the pants estimate for what heading I wanted to approach at and how to figure the offset based on how fast that rate of closure changed. Ended up coming in just where I expected to, and followed the advice in t…

Having completed all of the missions and most of the challenges in Hawaii, then most of the Alaska challenges you can imagine my horror this afternoon when I logged on for a flight and found that all Missions, Challenges and other bits and pieces had been reset to ZERO. Panic, panic, panic. I know, I'll go online and see if anyone has had the same problem - They had, and it was due to the career and hash files being overwritten for some reason and as these stats are only held locally I was well and truly snookered. Fortunately someone on AVSIM a while ago suggested making a backup of the career folder - which I do regularly, the last of which I did yesterday. …

To all the naysayers that say Alaska (and Flight) is devoid of life! :P Could this be a future SAR or other mission? FSX had a similar mission to this area.

It's not easy to get an overview of all the airports in Flight's ingame map. Therefore, I "converted" the airport information from Flight's ingame map to an simple "out game" overview airport map (no water runways). At least for me, it's now easy to keep track - before exploring the wilderness (flightplaning, etc.). If you want a copy, you can download the Alaska overview map here: http://www.uploadany.com/?d=4FF6B4E71 MS-Flight_Airports-Alaska-East_00.jpg MS-Flight_Airports-Alaska-West_00.jpg 4,3Mb

I started flight this morning, as I always do, and changed out the aerocache of the day is... But the Aerocache Hunt page seems to have lost of its data. Here's what I am noticing: 1) There is no Aerocache of the Day; instead, I see "Aerocache of the Day is not available". 2) I only see *four* aerocaches listed: Honolii Cov, Lava Foundation, Kikaua Beachg, and Wailuku. The first one is unlocked but the other 3 are locked. 3) The lady starts talking, telling me what aerocaches are. -------- Aerocaches seem to be the only thing affected: - All the Missions are there (with the appropriate tick marks). - All the Challenges are there (with the approp…

I loaded up Flight just now but I can`t sign in to Live. I just get error code 0x80150101. Then when I tried to load the Steam forum in Firefox I could not. Is anyone else having problems? Forum is back up again but that still leaves the error code problem.
