Some of you may know the free ENB 'addon' for (amongst others) FSX. In FSX this addon will give you control over things like contrast, bloom and color. It can make dark things darker and light things lighter and depending on where you look (how much dark or light things are on screen), the effect changes 'on the fly'. It can also give you more bloom and more saturation. ALL these effects can be tailored to your taste by simply editing an .ini. So if you want to you can only make the night darker (and you decide how much darker) or only make the day darker (and you decide how much darker), you canmake colors more saturated or less saturated, you can add a tiny bit of bloo…

I've found that raising the viewpoint in the Maule cockpit using control-W while on the ground, so that the top of the cowl is level or just under the horizon, makes takeoff, landing and taxiing a lot easier. You can set it in the air by setting the horizon halfway between the top of the cowl and the bottom of the wing root. It's much easier to do a soft landing if you know exactly how high to raise the nose during flare. Another thing I've been experimenting with is zooming in to 1.5. Default zoom for the cockpit is 0.6, and I've had it set to 1.0 for quite a while. You can edit the camera.cfg file to change the default zoom. The 1.5 zoom level is set by hitting…

This post is to determine if it is just me, just my setup, or if others agree that the night lighting is not "bright" enough.I have been enjoying Flight for several days now. I think it is a FUN distraction from the real world... anyway... I just now started a "job" that had me taking some passengers to someplace (not important), but I had a VERY hard time taxi(ing) to the runway. It was night time, with overcast skies and rain. Yes... I did have all the lights on.BTW, I like the Landing light effect... it looks good... just not bright enough. Oh, and I have tried adjusting my monitor's brightness/gamma etc. That just produced a "washed out" effect.Anyone?

Since the land class system was introduced about a dozen years ago, terrain has become more varied and attractive. With autogen (FS8), the ground was filled with objects and the FS world become more realistic. There is one element that has been missing and that is hydrographic features: rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, lagoons, reservoirs with their dams, wetlands, marshes, canals, etc. Sure, the U.S., parts of Canada, and some countries in Western Europe had these elements, but the rest of the world was mostly devoid of them. People have been flying over large parts of the FS world and most have probably never even noticed how glaringly obvious was the lack of wate…

  8. Load the Cub with 4 pax, on a job, using Clear Skies as your weather theme so that you can't think it has to do with the winds.... Before starting your engine, observe the aircraft bouncing, from the outside or from the "cockpit" view.... Those passengers aren't still!!!! They move and the aircraft, being so smal for them, moves too :-) I started suspecting weight CoG during flight was sometimes being affected, particularly on the Cub, and now I know why.... As I used to say - and still think, although I do not say... MS FLIGHT - what else?...

Do you guys think they are going to implement several (more than one at a time) aerocaches for Alaska? I'm really really happy we are getting daily aerocaches there...they are a lot harder to obtain in Alaska cause the scale of the place is to much bigger, at least that's what I find. I like it! But still, if you toggle the filter in Flight to show Alaska aerocaches, we still get the "No aerocaches in selected area", so there are still no "normal" aerocaches there, only aerocaches of the day. I Hawaii I would stumble on aerocaches randomly all the time and it was awesome.

I've been thinking for quite some time how to explain VOR to a newbie using words only... and also as least words as possible. Pictures often paints a thousand words but sometimes pictures make the tutorial fragmented or too specific and not general enough (if those are the right words to use...). So this afternoon I sat down and wrote the following. I think it pretty much tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about VOR (for usage in MS Flight). Obviously most of what's written is also covered in the tutorial section, but those tutorials were posts from a big topic and not written as ONE tutorial that says it all. I would like to invite you all to tell me where I stil…

Hey guys, I finally got around to buying a joystick for playing Flight, and I decided on the Logitech 3D pro as a good starter stick. I'm finding it significantly more difficult than flying with the PS3 controller I had been using, but I'm redoing all the landing challenges to get myself used to flying with the stick. I have a question about bank trim... Sorry if I don't use the right terminology, just let me know if my language is too ambiguous or flat out wrong and I'll try and explain it better. Basically, my plane always banks to the left. It happened with my PS3 controller, but I'm pretty handy with one of those so it wasn't a big deal to adjust for it. With …

This post is a bit similar to one I posted on Steam but I thought it would be nice to talk about it here. Quite a few people (including me) say the Cub is too slow. To slow for what? Too slow for flying from the west of Alaska to the east, yes. Maybe also too slow for a lot of 200 nm jobs. But it certainly isn't too slow to simply fly in and to enjoy the scenery. The thing is: it seems to me that 99% of the virtual pilots want to fly from A to B. Why is that? I live near a small GA airport and 90% of the airplanes that take off there also land there again! I've have seen (only a few) tv shows about those Alaskian pilots and they ALL took off from their homebase, dropp…

Is there a way to turn off the cockpit tooltips? When you mouse over a gauge a blue box with white lettering appears with information relevant to that gauge, even if you have mouse control turned on. Would be nice to disable that. Regards; Fritz

So as usual the last wednesday of the month... Although MS is keeping their word, this is a bit of a letdown because the Cub was already released with Alaska and this only is a VC upgrade. I was hoping we'd get a VC upgrade seperately from the usual monthly plane. Then again... better only a VC then another VC-less plane. I also wonder if we only get to buy the VC or the complete plane. And if we only get to buy the VC if that means that people who want this plane HAVE to buy Alaska too. I am betting on a complete plane for a price similar to the Maule. https://news.microso...carbon-cub.aspx : "This classic plane just got even better with the addition of …

When playing flight, I am a big multiplayer fan. The flight universe is otherwise so conspicuously void of life that you could almost think you were in an isolation chamber! Yet as the months have gone by, I see more and more that it is the younger people that will enthusiastically embrace the Mic, chanting "Can anyone hear me!!? Meanwhile, except at the odd structured and scheduled gathering, older voices are noticeable mostly by their complete absence. And this is in a crowd noted for numerous comments regarding missing vatsim and etc....... Why do you think the actual (judging by their typed comments) simmers seem to be so....... silent?

Well this is on a subject we should all be familiar with: Cockpitless planes! Now I know that many people have taken a firm stance against them, and some people have flat out said they wont buy even one, but with the currently ending Summer blowout on Steam that saw those cockpitless planes going for less than $3 I found that both my curiosity and my innate impulse to have a "complete" collection nudged me into finally purchasing those planes I had previously avoided. Somewhere in my decision-tree towards taking the plunge, it also occurred to me that if they can add a cockpit to the Cub, then surely these planes might be in for the same treatment at some possibly far…

  23. Plan G, combined with GMap, is a wonderful tool for crafting flight-plans and using them in MS Flight. For an introduction to this, please see this thread: http://forum.avsim.n...e-them-in-gmap/ However, these tools were initially created for FSX and the data they use for airports and navaids is a little outdated compared to what is used in Flight. A number of users have noticed that Flight features some newer airports that are not in Plan G's database, simply because they didn't exist when the FSX database was built. It's hard to make a flight-plan if the planning software doesn't understand where you are trying to go. It is possible to add user-created Waypo…

The train tunnel is missing from Whittier, this is a shame. Can't wait to check out the Honolulu pass bridge in AK. The pipeline...oh well. But anyway, I love this sim to pieces. I recommend googling pictures of wonder lake, and then going and doing it. Also, really fun to see the plane crashes, but look in skyvector.com at the vfr reporting point 100 miles east of Fairbanks. Its really a Liberator, but it says B52 with a magenta flag. I am gonna go check. If you are bored, plan for a few of these favorite places The Don Sheldon Amphitheater, Mountain house there? A low flight from fairbanks into Totatlinika or Gold king, pop in from a valley and try to stick it…

Hello folks, I just want to share with you guys that yesterday i started a long and hopefully great journey to every single airfield in Alaska. I have no idea how much time (i guess months) it will take to visit them all. Yesterday i began the journey from the Annette Island (PANT). The flight plan will follow a pattern. Every 100 nm radius i will choose a "base" airport and explore the scenery and land at all the airfields (land and water) in that radius. I noticed that in some places there might not be an airfield in a 100 nm radius, so i think i´d have to improvise "base" landing spots or sometimes give a little explore area a little stretch. I´ll be us…
