Hello I am surprised than no one has commented on Mathijs Kok's interview on the Avsim Front page. Looks like the third party devs were close to being invited back in.

Microsoft officially pulled out the plug of there latest Simulator,FLIGHT! So now all the commercial and nonpro can focus there mind and knowledge to FSX. Long live FSX! Happy flying Roy Bean

FSX is sort of an ideal sim for me. It has anything i want from a sim. most of all i love the incentive it gives you to progress. Missions for example pit you against possible real life scenarios that you have to face in a realistic manner even if the game had its quirks at the realism part(still though it is not a child's play). Also the UI was very usable. the only drawbacks it has are its awful technical issues, delays, bugs, glitches that need some work arounds. with Flight i expected, well, more! ... is the lack of information about upcoming DLC... When will we get the first updates with new options (what new options?) and when will we get new DLC (what kind of DLC)...?I know that right now it is rather useless to talk about it (and to start this topic ) but well... I remember reading once that MS Flight was not going to have jets . . . .ever. At least that's how it was described. I noticed an achievement for Mach 1 speed and another for flying at FL320. Hard as I've tried, can't make that happen in the stearman or icon. Also, there is another achievement for landing a fixed wing aircraft backwards (it specifically says fixed wing, so maybe helicopters were on the horizon?). Has anyone actually done this? I guess if you stalled in a strong enough headwind just above the runway you could make this happen? It does not specify that it has to be on a hard surface, so maybe trying it with the icon over water is the…

Has anyone noticed that they're running out of possible awards? I don't mean something like one million passengers; no one will ever get that. But awards that you might actually be able to get at some point? For example, after I got 20 tons clandestine cargo, and 25 tons total cargo, there's no drive to get another cargo award. They're too far off. I still expect to get 500 hours flight time (currently at 413), 1000 landings (currently at 761), and 500 passengers (currently at 354). I *might* get 200 aerocaches; I'm at 165 (in game) and we don't know if they'll ever make that many. I still need the blue ribbon for spot landing. I'm getting close to 3 mil…

1) Immediately, immediately give the source code to third party developers 2) Make immediate and convincing public apologize to the world by MS 3) Refund immediately the fans for the DLC already purchased. Only if all of these 3 conditions will be immediately met Flight will have a faint chance to survive, otherwise not. Please Flight fans, do not make the same mistake twice. This is the only remedy if you want to see the light at the end of the tunnel otherwise you have to accept the total failure of the idea, before than the game itself.

My impression is that the majority of people who have invested in Flight believe that it is superior to all other PC flight simulators in at least three respects. I.e. best graphics, best flight dynamics, best performance ‘out of the box’. Therefore, although it has had a very short lifespan, I think it remains a valuable commodity, which at some stage needs to be dusted off and developed into a next generation sim, including all the bells and whistles that flight simulation enthusiasts want. So anyway I just finished yet another job in the Maule, and I have been noticing lately the numbers of my total xp , and total flight hours, seem to be running like synomously with each other. Like, when I had 1,650,000 xp, I had logged 165 hours in Flight. When I had aroung 1,500,000 XP, I had logged around 150 hours in Flight. Currently after this last job, I have app 1.670,000 xp, and yep you guessed it - have logged 167 hours in Flight. So I guess then, on earning XP, I am averaging around 10,000 xp for every hour logged in Flight. Ah well, guess I just notice stuff sometimes lol.

is the amount you suddenly notice you're going to start spending on it, both money-wise, but also time-wise and, above all, stress-wise, and the inverse regarding "flight"-wise... In just one week, since I bought and installed FSX Gold, and starting a few days earlier when I got mad at the unexpected fate of MS FLIGHT, I found myself spending way too much time searching the net for tweaks, products, solutions for this and that, instead of enjoying "flight"... So finally this morning, I did a flight using the inclement weather setting. Previously I had pretty much always flown with low and threatening as my weather theme. Wow, big difference. I flew about a 160nm job in the Maule and felt like I was fighting it most all the way. A 16kt headwind in inclement, really knocks the aircraft around, whereas a 16kt headwind in low and threatening, does not. Definitely made this job seem like it took forever, felt I should have gotten some bonus points for just completing the darn thing in inclement weather lol.

I'm glad they'd given up on the electroshock by the time I became a Flight beta tester. :P I understand it's still an option for Windows8 testers.

I've been running Flight since it was released with my Saitek X52Pro stick and throttle but I'd like to have the choice between stick and yoke depending on which aircraft I'm in at the time. I've been looking at the Saitek and Ch Products yoke and pedals but they both seem very similar in their build quality and as I can't find a local store that will allow me to try them both it's difficult to decide one way or the other. Can anyone give a recomendation as to which system is the better of the two or, indeed, any other system that is worthy of consideration. The big red Barn, an anology I decided to build this big red barn in my back yard. I got permission from the CFO (my wife) and worked commenced that very afternoon. I hired a really good contractor and his crew to work full time on my masterpiece that I had designed from the ground up. It was going to be a grand structure. The best on the block to be sure. Well, some of the surrounding land owners were not happy with the idea at all. They thought it would be an eye sore and a blight on the land. Well I decided even though the Flight program has been cancelled, I would go ahead and purchase the deluxe version of the Cub. Might as well have all the cockpit versions of planes that were available. Just took a very short hamburger run in it - man that thing floats forever when landing with flaps lol. I am sure I will fly it some more just for kicks, but pretty sure the Maule is safe in the " my favorite plane" category. Btw, I see it has mixture control, I assume no prop rpm control?

As you can see from the title of this post I was not happy with Flight when it released. Due to a couple of mistakes on my part, first in assumming that is was going to be FSXI. That it is not, My second mistake was comparing the two and you can't FSX is a "As real as it gets" real world flight simulator, and Flight is a video game that will hopefully lead many new people to enjoy FSX as many of us do now.So why the change of heart? I start MS Flight, and then start GMap, and when I click the GMap button it says "Cannot connect to MS Flight". I've tried GMap versions 2.0 and 2.1 (the most recent version - July 4 I think). Neither work. I've also tried starting GMap before and after Flight starts. I'm using the Steam verison of Flight, install on my D drive. Any ideas on how I can get GMap working?

Hi everyone ! Yesterday evening I have purchased the F4U Corsair via the ingame LIVE system. I want to sold few crosoft points wich was on my account. I am still enjoying Flight very much, but I swear I just can't help but wonder why in the world MS pulled the plug on it, after only 4 short months. After the intitial release, just a small handful of cockpitless planes until the Cub, and one scenery DLC release. You would have to think, there was already one more scenery dlc in the pipeline being developed, or already developed being fine tuned. We already know there was a least one more dlc plane in the pipeline, near finished or maybe even finished. I mean to me, how could they even tell in that short a time whether the program was going to be successful or not, or maybe that just did not matter. Maybe someone ordered…

The Microsoft Flight site says the aerocache of the day is Haena Beach in Hawaii. But when I start Flight it says Not Available, even when I set the map to Hawaii and restart the game. I probably already have this one from before, so I won't be missing any. Has anyone had any better luck? Hook
