This one sounds simple, but I had a tough time finding it back when it was originally released. Good luck.

This one should be pretty easy to find especially if you've done some of the challenges. Enjoy. Very interesting. I remember getting this one a while back, but when I went in the sim to check the date, it showed I hadn't collected it. I guess it didn't register when I got it originally. Okey Dokey then. I just loaded up my trusted RV and went and got it. Now at 166.

I was looking for the farthest north airport in Alaska I could find and this is it. Situated on the Chukchi Sea, Latitude 71.29 degrees north. It is also the farthest north of any US territory. Both famous men died about 9 miles away at Point Barrow in a 1935 plane crash. If the names don't ring a bell you should check them out. I checked the job board and low and behold there was a clandestine job. Long flight with the Carbon Cub but I made the "most wanted list" award for 2 tons of unknown cargo delivered with out detection.

Occasionally, when flying around Alaska, I have found myself on Short Final with very tall trees dangerously blocking the threshold of the runway. For example, this is Kako just a little Northwest of Russian Mission. Not only are there trees, but also numerous hills, so the approach is somewhat steep. This isn't really a big problem with the Cub; it was made for that. But, I did notice in instances like this that often the other runway was clear of trees and other obstructions. Here is Kako from the other side: Now, there have been some complaints about obstacles close to runways, but perhaps in some case it is simply a matter of choosing the…

No, no arguments here, please. Just a look at the changes from the start, although nobody in this forum needs a reminder: Source. The Old Flight Simulator Vault - http://fshistory.simflight.com/fsvault/ And the latest iteration of the Microsoft Flight Simulator series: I find it very interesting that we were all playing those early versions, and yet nobody, nobody at all, ever complained that it was just an arcade game for kids. And yet for most of its history, FS has not had: - airliners; - real weather; - ATC; - world-wide coverage; - realistic panels; - realistic flight models; - AI aircraft traffic; - freeway t…

Winds in some of the Weather Themes are just crazy! My Pilot Profile shows that my strongest crosswind has been 44 kts! :P And I did it in the Cub! I was observing the dirt effect while taxiing on a gravel strip and the dirt effect is affected by... the wind! That's a nice touch, isn't it? Best regards. Luis

Ha, make that tomorrow (typo) Just flew into Johnson Perburg (PAPG) on a job. Nice setting for the C-46 first takeoff and photo op. I can't resist the big old bird. I will take what I can get, like it or not!

I have been working on Flight Simulator scenery for a long time, and like everything, the more one knows, the more one respects the work accomplished. (The corollary is also true: the less people know, the more they are prone to complain.) So, I always find something in Flight that astonishes me, because of the dedication and work required, the attention to detail, the painstaking effort that is needed to make the sim world look good. Alaska is so large that it contains a lot of details that probably escape most people, who are (rightly) complaining of the generic airports. Although it would have been impossible to make detailed and realistic airports for such a large…

Friends of Microsoft Flight: The Smithsonian Channel has been running a series of aerial tours of the US. A recent episode covered the Hawaiian islands. I thought some of you would be interested in comparing the views from the show to the sim. If you don't get the channel on your cable system, you should be able to watch it on their web site. Currently there is only a preview but eventually they will post the entire hour show. If you enjoy flying Flight in Hawaii, you will like this show. Here is the link to the episode on their site: http://www.smithsonianchannel.com/site/sn/show.do?episode=134778#video

Anyone else flown a clandrstine jobs with the Cub? I have only used the Carbon Cub for these jobs since it has been avaliable. I have never yet been intercepted by the police. I flew a job last night of about 67 miles. Just to check things out I was trying to be intercepted. I Flew 90 degrees off course for about ten minutes, then turned directly toward the distination marker. I climed to 10,000 feet much to the dismay of the no name co-pilot. I stayed well above 1,000 feet for the entire trip. No problems at all, landed and unloaded the cargo. 16, 689 Xp, that put me over 1,500,000 xp. I flew in clear weather at dawn with all the lights blazing. So I was just wondering i…

I don't remember collecting this one, but I wouldn't think it would be too hard to find. Guess I'll go looking now. Enjoy.

This is a companion thread to my "What are we giving up by moving from Flight to FSX." So what do we get by switching from Flight to FSX? 1. We're getting the entire globe. You can fly from anywhere to anywhere, in pretty much any aircraft you can imagine. 2. We're getting real world weather, which gives us rational variable weather anywhere we fly. We can also set weather parameters to our liking. While Flight had some incredible weather effects, they weren't as well integrated as they could have been. 3. While every Flight airport in Hawaii was 'high definition', there are 41 such airports in FSX in the Deluxe edition. There are also a similar number o…

This one can be easy or hard. Depends on where you enter the crater and which direction you fly. I had a bit of a time with it back when I got it. It wasn't where I thought it would be and did a good bit of flying around looking. Got a good tour of the crater though. Enjoy.

AVSIM Publisher Tom Allensworth and the staff of AVSIM Online interview Joshua Howard, Team Lead for MS' FLIGHT, their next generation flight simulator. Tom Allensworth begins the interview with; "Joshua, we met in December when you and your team were gracious enough to invite a number of organizations in the Flight Simulation Community to Seattle to discuss the next product in the MS Flight Simulation genre; FLIGHT. Since then FLIGHT has been launched and the anticipation that had built up over many months has been addressed.". You can read the full interview with Joshua here.

Apparently earlier today there was a glitch with the AOTD listing that showed Haena Beach as the cache for 8/23. It has been corrected and now shows Lake Waiau which is the seventh highest lake in the U.S. Here again, don't forget to lean.
