Time to lighten up a bit after spending the last couple hours reading through the forums. Why do that, it's like I can't help myself, I just HAVE to read all that mostly usless dribble. I just want to fly! I took the Cub out of Juneau and went looking for this darn glacier. I did find it after flying up a couple wrong valleys and having to turn back and retrace more then once. It was a interesting and FUN trip. As you see I did slightly acceed the red line in several critical areas, but the Cubby held togrther, never the less. Good thing this is just a game, no? No disembodied voice yapping in my ear about wrong procedures, just me and the airplane. I had that feeling w…

Yesterday (Friday) when I was at Airventure 2012 I was walking through one of the exhibitor buildings and I came areoss the aroflyFS booth. They had the sim running on a couple screens and some people playing. I started talking to the guy there about the fact that MSflight had been cancelled. He was bumbstruck, he had heard nothing about flights demise. He said that while it was "to bad" it could only help his sales in the long run. So, in a moument of weaknes I bought a copy. Do I have buyers remorse, sort of. I have played with it for a while today and found it somewhat lacking after being spoiled with flight. However I will continue to check it out as they will keep up…

It's amazing how you can 'fool' yourself... When I was all into Flight I thought, and so I posted, that FSX didn't look too good. Flight was so much better. But now I know that Flight is dead, I suddenly see things in Flight that aren't that good... and I see things in FSX that are great... Guess this is how it works... It's as if I am looking at myself, thinking 'what a nut you are'. But I don't think I am the only one: I think that 90% of the people choose 'a side' and then go for it. That's how it works. You WANT something to succeed or to happen or to fail... Could you call that 'fooling yourself'? Or is this simply how it works...? A lot of the discussions we…

I'm talking about Jcomm... know him? Well, not only was he going to receive xplane10, but in the meantime he decided to re-install FLIGHT, and, after seeing the money he would have to spend on decent add-ons for Xplane10, plus the fact that the guy still has the chance to re-install products like Leveld767, RealAir Siai (and buy their Legacy...), Aerosoft Katana and TO, as well as Aerosoft DiscusX and CumulusX! to go with it, London Heathrow, Lukla, Wilco A320 - or wait for a better one, Wilco Embraer 145, FSUIPC and Flight1's P-12... he decided to login to xbox.com and buy FSX Golden for €29,99 :-) It's a 11,07GB download running now on GFWL, the same interface t…

The last few days there has been a lot off topic talk on the Flight forum. That's not weird, considering the demise of Flight. People wanted to know what to do, which sim to play or even simply share emotions. So we tolerated a lot. However, this forum is for those who like to play Flight. Period. The off topic talk is getting more and more off topic (I know, because I contributed some very OT posts ) and it's time to get back on topic. Because I don't want to lock every off topic topic just like that I decided to post this as a sticky, so you know that the coming days I will be tightening the loosened strings again. Existing off topic topics will be tolerated for a…

Now I'm an IT guy, not a coder (too sociable, no beard, and I have a wife :Big Grin: ) so i don't know what i am talking about, but Kevin MV Gibbage does, and I suspect some other lurkers here..Please note, Kevin; that bit about coders is a joke One of the things I like about flying is a sense of purpose. call me picky, but simply sightseeing is not always my cup of tea. Don't get me wrong..I love flying AK as it is so beautiful. I love wilderness, BUT I like to fly for a reason, and get the lovely vistas along the way. Reward-based gaming/flying, let's call it. It's why I play AH So, my point: I, and a few others were really looking forward to some location-spec…

  12. Hi everyone, Is there a way to get our money back from this useless software company now that they have pulled the plug so quickly on this product? Am sure many of you are thinking the same thing. Its also incredulous how they didn't even let the development team finish Alaska and we paid for a half baked DLC! 35 great developers left in the lurch, that Howard bloke is the one who should be fired. Wonder if this topic will last as long as Flight did :/

  14. Hey all, My intention is not to rip on Flight. It just wasn't for ME. I am glad though that it appealed to so many simmers here on the forums. I've been simming back to the Commodore 64 days, and have been a firm supporter through ProPilot, ATP, the SubLogic years, etc. through FSX. MS really needs to consider FS11 (or whatever). Not a game, but obviously simmers love the whole world, gazillions of airports, aircraft, and the ability for heavy metal pilots to fly long distances. Not to mention the abundance of 3rd party developers that were brought into the mix. Hard core simmers want more. MS gambled and lost. Sure, Flight looked a bit (or more, dependent…

I'm uninstalling Flight, can't bear to fly it after all this. I've bought the $15 A2A Accu Feel for my almost-uninstalled FSX, Love its new sounds (though it makes my VRS Superbug sound rather rattly!). It makes the already impressive Katana even better. I'm mainly an Xplaner, but need other Sims to stop me going crazy sometimes. DCS has cool stuff like this Hawk coming up, but it might not be out for months: Loading FSX back up was really interesting after almost another year had gone by. I'm exceedingly spoilt being in Melbourne, having ALL our main air facilities modelled by Orbx- I can fly from Melbourne Intl to Essendon (ha, you might as well walk), …

  16. No, not me. I am staying up to the last moment. I'm already the last person in the ProPilot forum - take a look if you don't believe it! And I guess that Lance and Bob and Steve and some others will stick around. And all of you that shared in the good times these last few months are certainly welcome back anytime when you get bored with your new sim (or when new Flight DLC is released! ) We shall be a smaller, more tightly-knit group here , but we can still have lots of fun. We shall fill this forum with jokes, pictures of pretty girls, beer and ... the Cub! You will laugh because you are a good-humored crowd, but I just got the Cub with a working panel …

I ran down to Kamohio Bay to grab the aerocache of the day... but unfortunately the aerocache wasn't there. I got the 20nm, 10nm, 5nm, and 2nm indicators... but the actual aerocache itself was missing. I flew through the bay at different altitudes, but never triggered a "hit". I saved my flight. I then tried the Alakai Swamp aerocache, but could not find that one either. I was pretty sure I was near the correct area, so I saved that flight too. I then exited Flight, restarted the aerocache of the day hunt, loaded my Kamohio Bay flight, and there in the middle of the bay was the aerocache. I grabbed it, and did the same thing for Alakai Swamp. And again, righ…

Hi, Rather than waiting to buy the Cub when it will likely be on sale for $4 next week I decided to get it now. After paying for it I couldn't find anyway of downloading it without first downloading Flight from Steam. No problem downloading it once I had done this. I've deleted the Steam download of Flight and can't see any problems. When I went to my 1GHZ netbook, on which I had installed the GFWL version of Flight and all my DLC, the Cub appeared in the Hangar with the re-download option available. It downloaded and installed on the laptop without problems. As a possible help to anyone else who wants to get the discount, and to satisfy my curiosity, is there a…

No, José, I am not asking you to calm down, although you should consider that. José, José, are you there? ... What? You say he is so desperate and disappointed that he is on top of the Salazar Bridge? No! Don't jump, José, don't jump! Think of your friends, your family, your... Carbon Cub. Which brings me to my point. For some reason, I have not been able to buy the Deluxe Cub, the Marketplace just isn't working for me. So, why don't you sell me yours? You can't use it in XPlane, after all. And I'll give you a good price since you probably didn't put a lot of hours on it. You can use the money to buy yourself... hmm... well, maybe not much in the XPlane…

Here's my gripe, with a small sprinkle of "told you so." This writing was so loudly on the wall in January that many of us were dismayed and really wanted to get that discussion going (not just to complain, but to reconcile as a community). The net effect of that era was "shut and go away," which really put me off from a community that I've been a part of since nearly the beginning. We didn't raise our voices loud enough (not that it would have mattered), and didn't put Howard's feet to the fire nearly enough. Now, the game is up and it'll probably take YEARS (if ever) to get back to the height of FS2004/FSX. This is a dark day and I fear that we had a chance to r…

Well, the BBC presenters for Formula 1 love them anyway. After a morning flight, I caught the British Grand Prix today (congrats to Aussie Mark Webber on the win btw). At the beginning of the show, the 3 BBC presenters took a novel way of getting to Silverstone -- by biplane. They didn't arrive by riding in them, but by riding on them! The guys sounded fine until the planes started doing a few loops and rolls -- then the screaming started! :LMAO:
