I thought the problems with Gmap were fixed with the latest update, but I just decided to run a job out of Ketchikan, and couldn't get Gmap to connect to Flight. I haven't run a job in weeks, so I figured maybe it wouldn't connect when running a job. After rebooting, and starting things up in different sequences, it occurred to me , maybe this is the problem like when you had to go to Hawaii first to connect, so I went to Anchorage and it immediately connected. Couldn't get it to connect at Johnson Petersburg either which was the destination on the $100 hamburger job. Also tried PAWG, and no connection there either.

On my way to Point Lay Airport in NW Alaska, and had 11% fuel left, which should have lasted the 10 minutes left before I landed, but all of a sudden the stupid engine just quit,,,,,,!!!!!! Looked at the fuel gauges, and some tanks had fuel and some didn't. I would assume the ones that had fuel were not connected to the engine at that point.... Since I was 1000 feet ASL ( that's above sea level) at that point, it wasn't long before this was the result, despite some desperate button pushing in the cockpit. Need to look at this fuel system in the morning, once I dry out......

Some of you may remember that I've had trouble trimming the Maule (especially in terms of keeping going in a straight line). However, I think I've figured out what the problem was! Last night, I was able to get it trimmed correctly but then the next flight, I wasn't able to do it (it was very fidgety and sensitive to input and wouldn't fly straight). The difference, I noticed, was that the second time, the plane was much heavier and overloaded. I usually just fill the gas tank up to full but I think I need to pay more attention to ajusting the amount of fuel based on aircraft load to get better stability! ;-)

During the last few months a lot of tips, hints and even complete tutorials have been posted on this forum. Most of them have been promoted to the Tutorials section on AVSIM, however, that section is hidden a little bit and if you don't know it's there, you will never see it. The wife has been complaining that she can't get her feet under the desk because my new rudder pedals are in the way. So i scrouged up some stuff from around the house and came up with a solution that we both can live with. What have other people been doing with flight sim stuff to get it out of the way? Still have full access to the key board and mouse when flying. no problem with the trackir5. I have maped the center key to the trigger swich on the joystick and the pause to the down key on the key board. As long as the wife is happey!

Hello, I do not find how to set the different buttons of my joystick to use it like I use it in FSX . I there an "how to " available? Thanks in advance.

I had to get used to Alaska a little. First I had to overcome some disappointments (mesh, basic airports, repetitive scenery) but the more I fly it, the more I love it. First of all it's HUGE (compared to Hawaii): I am loving it more and more that I can fly on an on without ever seeing the same place twice or having to fly over a boring ocean again. I love the amount of airports to take off from or fly to. I knew all the Hawaiin airports after a few days but I already forgotten which ones I have already visited in Alaska: there are so many! I really love the diversity of the terrain: the rugged mountains, the smooth valleys, the forrests, the plains, those swa…

A while back there were lots of posts and information on trackir, how do I find them again now that I really need them. Got it set up and running but there does not seem to be a lot of information. I can look up ok and look right and left ok but when I look down the view shifts suddenly to the low right to the point you can see the tail of the aircraft instead of the floor. I have played around with different settings to no avail. software version 5.1.3 final speed 1 smooth 10

I just want to rush home from holidays, buy Hawaii, Alaska and the Maule - no cockpitless aircraft this time - and then rush through those painfull basic flights until I get my pilot license and am able to transport passengers and cargo again, allways striving for ZERO CRASHES!!!! I am really jealous of you guys flying around Alaska, leaning and enriching your mixtures with some difficulty (a lot simpler in ELITE :-) ) but profiting from the wonderfult environment MS FLIGHT gives us... This is my penalty for being a jerk... Buying it twice - a second marriage with the same bride :-)

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated ! My aero count is 147 because I was lucky enough to have gotten an extra aero or two on the days when 2 new aeros were available. (April 18th & May 11th) I have been able to identify all except the first one from May 11th. These are pics of both that day. The 1st one (on the left) is LAHILAHI POINT on the west coast of Maui. The 2nd is on the south coast of Molokai and the annual boat race from Molokai to Oahu starts there. I would really like to know the name of this aero ?? My list of 95 daily aeros would then be complete. (95+53=148........minus curvature of the earth = 147) Thanks. Fred.

If you ask five different pilots how to properly lean-out an aircraft’s mixture, expect to get five different answers. All pilots should have a general understanding of why you need to adjust the fuel/air mixture in the engine to maintain the optimal ratio (air pressure decreases as altitudes increases, requiring less fuel flowing to the engine), but methods to actually go about doing so seem to range from theoretical science to voodoo. So... how do you play the game by now? Different from how you played the game a month or so ago? Still the same? Do you do free flight, jobs, aerocaches (of possible )? My way of playing has changed a little since the first months in which I mainly flew using VOR in Hawaii. What I do most right now is: I set the flight conditions to whatever I want (time, season, waether), although I usually fly during spring, with Low and threatening and a few hours after dawn or before dusk. I pick a random airport, usually on the ingame map. I do look if it's somewhere near mountains or not: I like something different everytime. Then I check the job board: I simply look at the…

Hi all, I am going to get a new computer and was wondering how I can reinstall flight on my new system . also if anyone here has done that already. Will I loose all my progress will I be asked to pay again ?

By accident I noticed a nice feature of the glance option ®. But it might be a bug also, I don't know. Anyway, I use the topdown view together with R quite often when I am closing in on an airport (specially when I am not using GMap) to see where I need to go. I also use that option for finding the parking spot. Seeing it from the topdown view makes is much more clear where you have to go. However, it's a bit cumbersome to press F12 and then having to keep R down in order to see where you have to go. (I also have a knob for it on my joystick but still...) This morning my computer crashed. I was able to do a system restore and everything works now EXCEPT for Flight. When I try and start flight I get this message "Microsoft Flight encountered an error wile initializing it's systems. The program will now exit." - That's it. nothing else. I've tried a reinstall and I get the same message. I went to Flight's support, but all I got was a canned email with some links to some of the common causes for Flight not working. Anyone have any ideas on how I can get flight working again?

Hi folks, Just restarted playing MSFlight 3 days ago and really getting back into it now... to the point where I'm trying to buy MSFSX Gold from the marketplace (only 29.95) but will have to wait 'till support fixes an issue with their account stuff. In the meantime, I noticed, that the Aerocache of the day is NOT available, and hasn't been since I restarted. I checked my connection status which is fine (connected to flight servers on the aerocache page) & GFWL. Is anyone else experiencing this? Googling this problem turned up 1 link to here but related to connections problems (which I don't have). thanks in advance... R

I have a LIVE ID and a gametag, having been playing Age of Empires on-Line satsiafctorily. Downloaded Flight via the Game Marketplace but when I launch the game I am held up by the Sign-In Window. It recogmises my gametag (although it says I'm Off-line) but hangs owaiting for Sign-In to complete. Tried uninstall and re-install but no change. Any help will be appreciated. A dxdiag.exe file is included.

Hello all. Is there a way in the game of seeing which airports I've been to, or am I just going to have to write them all down? When I look at the airports on the map, I'm not seeing anything that tells me if I've been there. Igor.
