Although it was missing a lot of features that we take for granted in other sims, Flight excelled in performance, in graphics, and in flight model. It is just a pity that the work that went into this is now going to be shelved. You would think that there is now an opportunity for MS to do some kind of deal with one or more 3PDs for them to continue developing the game. But Mr Howard seems to have firmly ruled that out quote “There is no facility to allow 3rd parties to independently develop content for Microsoft Flight. Though we had hoped to offer this capability in the future, as the product stands today it’s not possible”. What's the saying? - Where the…

Hi, I currently have FSX / Acceleration. I mostly play the missions. Almost cleared all the beginner missions. I find the advanced missions to be a bit over my head for now. I play with a keyboard, don't have a yoke or joystick. Now I'm reading so much good stuff about Flight. All those (clandestine) missions seem like a lot of fun. I'm not looking for realism, but more for entertainment. How does it play with a keyboard? Is it manageable or should I get a yoke / joystick? Should I be looking for force feedback joystick? I noticed on Steam they have a deal where you can buy the whole package / addons for US$ 50. Seems like a good deal. Should I take…

This is the main killer of the hosted revolution. Having your experience totally in control of a third party. When the project or company goes belly up there goes your investment. I'm happy we have FS9 and for many FSX because what you have on your hard drive you can enjoy anytime for as long as you like well into the future. This was a big damning feature of Flight in how Joshua wanted to control us in every way. Now that his shortsightedness and mistakes have come home to roost we all pay the price should MS decide to shut down the servers as there's no revenue to be had (or they figure out a way to charge us everytime we load the sim). I actually really like Flig…

to our previously scheduled program - Fun! Please don't bring Gloom and Doom, Gripes and Swipes, or anything of that sort into this thread. My time down here will shortly be over, and so, I suspect, will yours . And when I am lying on my bed awaiting that final moment, I shall look back at it all and think, "yes, it was fun and I enjoyed it immensely!" So, it's off to meet this guy's sister. I like to do touch and gos beforehand just so I can polish my hand before the meeting with sis. Here is the Cub on Final to Sand Point: This was the first time I saw the guy's sister, so I took a picture as a souvenir: You've g…

Do I have to write anything .... ? I hope to be back at some other forum someday, maybe soon, maybe not so soon, maybe only at the "Hangar Chat".... All of the expectations are really gone... I will not see FDM improvements, a better weather model, things that have so recently been mentioned on an interview with someone from the MS FLIGHT team.... For the time being I see no alternative worth the try. I'll download and try to configure FlightGear2.8 (the hardware configuration is allways a tedious task with FG :-/ ). I have ELITE - well you're tired of knowing that.... - to start and fly the closer to real I ever found on a sim (GA IFR/IMC etc...) Now I'm…

Remember a few months back when Flight was released, and it seemed like 15% of the Internet came here to whine about how Flight didn't let them fly 757 cargo flights between Schipol & Frankfurt at 2am in heavy cloud on autopilot, while simulating in excruciating detail the steps to turn the cabin heater on? I hope you're all real happy now. Real happy. No more flight sims. That's it, game over. Back to 12fps in FSX I guess, I can't afford a whole new PC just to get 25fps!

  12. I saw this posted on the FlightSim forum. I was thinking about trying to make it out there. Microsoft Flight will have a display at Exhibit Hangar C Booth 3121, according to the .pdf here: http://www.airventure.org/exhibitors/ Searching around, I also turned up a Virtual event for FSX: http://fs-mp.com/oshkosh/

  16. Hi, When using Maarten Boelens' full screen script for AutoHotkey, I noticed that other programs can be accessed through RocketDock while in Flight. Another nice feature when running pseudo full screen. I also noticed that AutoHotkey is number 4 out of 100 ways to speed up Windows in an article in the current issue of MaximumPC . Jim F.

  17. Hello Folks! I´m wondering if somebody has any tips on how to use the new Carbon Cub radio, gps, the "rpm panel sticker" :P, mixture control and specially (in my case) the proper use of the "carb. heat"! Do all of the knobs in the digital gps/radio work? Oh, and i know that there are lots of tutorials in the web, and even in the "avsim" forum. But i´m looking for specific details and tips on how to make the most out of the new Carbon Cub! ------------------------- Keep on flying!

Been flying around Alaska and just given up a clandestine cargo job after failing 3 times. The law aircraft just refused to leave. Furthest tag I had on it was showing 18NM away. That time I managed to crash... Was flying in mountain passes and trying to stay under 1000 feet, an overweight Maule does not like trying to climb suddenly when hitting a dead end. Before I've got them to about 4NM away and they've just disappeared.

Well I guess its a given that the majority of us here are either current or former FSX flyers. We all know the tweaking and update drill, and being tired of that whole experience is probably at least one strand of the mosaic of reasons that finally attracted us to flight. Yet I have to admit that as a gamer and as a former FSX tweaker these latest Nvidia graphics cards and their performance numbers are very attractive, not least because flight is much more efficient in its use of GPU's, and promises to show a noticeable impact in those few areas where flight does slow down a bit in Alaska. Further, I have been running Nvidias New Dawn graphics demo recently and must a…

I was running a clandestine cargo job, to Jakolof Bay in Alaska, and when I got there I came in to land. (Obviously). And when I was still in the air about to touch down, it popped up the ( B ) to shut down (Q) for checklist menu. Which rather surprised me. Only big bug I've noticed so far.

  23. Running the Steam version, I just logged in for the daily aerocache and none of the aerocaches loaded. There was a message , "Disconnected from Microsoft Flight server." Funny thing was, I was still on Live and could get into Multiplayer matches. Was there a game update released with the new Deluxe Cub release or is the current version still 1.1.0.30041 ? Or are the servers just down?

On Dec. 21, 1943, a B-24 Liberator with a five-man Army Air Corps crew took off from Ladd Army Air Field to conduct high altitude propeller feathering tests. While climbing through 23,000 feet, the crew suddenly found themselves flying in the clouds. According to Maj. Richard Ragle, officer in charge of the post-crash investigation, the crew experienced failure of their pitot-static instruments followed by mechanical failure of the number one engine. An unusual attitude, spin and high rate of descent followed. In an attempt to correct the spiraling plane, the pilots broke both elevator actuator tubes, which exacerbated their dire situation. Pilot-in-command, 2nd Lt. Harol…
