I was looking up some data on crosswind components and came across this video from Icon on the airplane's spin resistance. Pretty impressive little aircraft, certainly the kind of airplane I would like to fly if I were a pilot. Of course, the Icon is not the first spin resistant airplane, but it seems to be very effective. And obviously we can spin it in Flight: it would be too much to expect a perfect flight model of an airplane that is still in development.. Best regards. Luis

I dunno bout anybody else here but personally i have always been mesmorized by the first ever official Flight trailer teaser. You know, this one : http://youtu.be/R5WW0kX9z1E (mind you, this is not to rip open any wounds) Not only the beautiful and inspiring shot of the Stearman but particularly that wonderful little piece of music as well. I always thought it went very well together and even saved it to my HD and can't help still playing it every now and then ( which makes me feel a little bit sad indeed ). Have great respect for the musician who put this little piece of music together. Now, what's that got to do with Monsters and Men you ask... Well, liste…

Got it :-) Also took some time to test stall behaviour in FLIGHT's Maule and Cub, inspired by the "youtube" posted by Luis regarding the stall/spin characteristics of the Icon.... Why can't the other sims, all of them, stall their aircraft so realistically as FLIGHT????

I'd just about made up my mind to get TrackIR when Microsoft pulled the plug. I'd been flying in 1.5 and 2.0 zoom view in the cockpit, and TrackIR would have made a huge difference in the game. I have a neck and back problem that really made me reluctant to get TrackIR, but after discussing it with my therapist she said it would be a good idea (VA wouldn't pay for it though), just watch out for repetitive motion problems. I figured it would be good therapy, even if it left my neck a bit sore. But now, I don't know if I'll have the heart to keep flying in Flight next week, or even later today. I don't think I'd use it in FSX because panning tends to have a huge …

I have pinned the Big Vor topic so it doesn't get buried. J van E did a superb job on this post and some of the contributing posts are very good also. Hopefully this will help some Flight users that need a little VOR instruction. Thanks Jereon.

I realize this is not Flight related, but it is AVSIM related. Forgive me this once please for an O/T post in this forum. This post is in case you haven't visited any of the other forums and seen the anouncement For those that fly FSX as well as Flight, there is a great sale going on in the AVSIM store on MILVIZ products. 50% off. I don't have any of their products at present, but with a sale like this, I will soon own a couple. Commercial over. Carry on.

I made some videos about the 3 Hawaii gold rush challenges a few months ago but tonight I decided to make new ones with better strategies and time. I am using the Icon for all 3 with full throttle and 5% fuel. I am stalling the wing a lot to get tight turns and slow the plane down. I hope these are of some use to others. Enjoy.............Fred. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQslry7E04s&feature=context-cha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PaeIhzqbKA&feature=context-cha Ford Island is here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/383010-ford-island-gold-rush-updated/

There are a lot of fans of old-style navigation systems. You know, stuff like sighting sextants while looking out the bubble top of your airplane. Or, more recently in this forum: VOR! I was flying in Alaska and doing a touch and go at the Port Clarence Coast Guard Station when I saw an enormous antenna: It turned out to be the LORAN-C antenna. But, sorry to say, Jeroen and other fans of the old ways, this antenna was dynamited to the ground 2 years ago: Coast Guard photo by Petty Officer 3rd Class Walter Shinn And the entire LORAN-C system was abandoned in the US and Canada at that time. What replaced it? Come on, you k…

I think this one was designed specifically for Jcomm and the Cub. Jose you'll like it. You don't spawn directly adjacent to the cache. You have to fly a bit. Also the placement requires some good pilotage. I suggest the Cub because this one lends itself to a short landing , a short hike, and a short takeoff. Enjoy

With the collapse of Flight and most publishers washing their hands of GFWL(Codemasters/Creative Assembly/Slightly Mad Studios/Bohemia etc.etc.)will GFWL be next in line for the cull. Microsoft Games Division seem to be in turmoil the past few years and I remember them hailing Flight in 2010 as the start of a new era for MS in taking pc gaming seriously. Would love to know what happened to the once kingpin of pc gaming. Any thoughts?

Well, after a few days I can see why MS Flight dropped the word 'Simulator'. It's an arcade game. But a damn good one.Although I've been flying since SubLogic was running the show and I love the complexity of FSX I must say that I've really enjoyed my time spent on MS Flight (or is it Flight Unlimited?).The one thing I did need though was a list of airports and the associated runway compass headings/altitude as once in a mission you can't go back to the map.I have attached the Hawaii Airports.pdf file for those of you who just need the same quick fix. It really comes in handy when flying at night. Don't expect too much.Fly well.BR

https://news.microsoftflight.com/blogs/news/archive/2012/08/15/getting-to-know-well-me.aspx Development has stopped, but this new refreshingly honest and frequent communication stream has begun. Microsoft have built a fantastic foundation in Flight to 'fire up' or re-open development in the future. I can't help linger on an ebb of excitement here and am still glued, if not more so to the blog updates. Please please Microsoft keep going. We are right behind you.
