I've been getting pretty bored on Flight lately, so I wanted to know what it is that you guys do when you are on Flight. Aerocache hunting? Missions? Challenges? Free Flight? Please mention!

I have seen the first question asked over and over and over. I think the 2nd question should be asked first. Please let me explain. I was working at ACES with MS closed the studio. They let go 90% of the close to 250 staff, and kept a core group of guys to start what would be known as Flight. I can say this since its been said publicly by people way over my head. The flight sim "group" was never 100% disbanded. When we were working on Flight, it was known in the office that this was THE LAST CHANCE in MS's eyes for flight simming. We knew that, so we put 110% into everything we did, so simming would have a future with MS. The problem is, the big leaders of…

Has anyone figured out how to run Flight in full screen with multiple monitors and a card up to the task ? I have a GTX670 card and was hoping to run Flight in full screen while using the other monitor for nav tools. I want to use the features of this card to the fullest.

This one should be interesting. If I remember, it was a fairly long flight compared to most of the others. Enjoy.

This is mainly aimed at those that haven't flown clandestine missions and for those new to Flight. I don't think I've ever checked the job board at Atka with a night setting and not found a clandestine mission. Generally it is a +- 90nm flight to Adak. Fairly easy mission if you keep low and set the destination about 30 degrees off the nose of the aircraft until you get to the island. Then skirt the shore to approach the airport. Another prime airport for these missions is Annette Island. Seems like there is one there too most of the time. I don't pay much attention to points, but these missions flown at night generally result in the high 20k points. If you wa…

I had already posted some of the scenery elements that keep surprising me in Flight. Anybody that has tried to make scenery knows how tedious and time consuming it is to recreate the world. Even God needed a few days to do this, and arguably He didn't get it completely right - for example, the world is a very blurry place. This first screenshot is a good illustration of the amount of detail in the scenery that most users don't even notice: Various types of shorelines, the little bays, the 2 roads of different widths with their accompanying bridges, the canal emptying into the sea, the new and extremely varied autogen houses, and most of all, t…

Hi I was just surfing the web, looking up flight-sim-related stuff, and I stumbled across the Wikipedia article on MS Flight Simulator. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Flight_Simulator The article has a section about the closure of ACES Game studios. I read it, and there was a quote that caught my attention: "Microsoft Flight Simulator X will remain available at retail stores and web retailers, the Flight Sim community will continue to learn from and encourage one another, and we remain committed to the Flight Simulator Franchise for the long term" This made me think. I put myself in Microsoft's shoes. They were committed to keep flight simulation alive…

Fabulous Ophir, from which came gold, and amber, silver and sandalwood, precious stones, ivory, apes and peacocks! Such is man that he recalls the ancient legends and gives their name to his new sources of treasure. When gold was found in the Yukon (Koyukuk) hills West of what is now McGrath, the miners called their camp Ophir. In hopes, no doubt, of wealth to come. At its height, this was not a large gold rush and had at most 200 people. Now, it is abandoned, as is the gravel strip (but we still have it in Flight!) There is still some activity in the area, but the Ophir gravel strip itself only serves once a year as a checkpoint in the Iditarod Trail Race. …

The Freedom Tower (1wtc) was topped out just a month after Flight was cancelled. Would've been nice to see that NYC was modeled before it was cancelled. Doesn't the new wtc stand for that America is rising again? Yes I'm posting on the 11th anniversary of 9/11, but the idea just came into my head. I also know that Flight probably won't be revived. Just posting to say that it would've been nice if... New York City was modeled before Flight was cancelled.

This video is pretty funny! I laughed a few times, and the reviewer obviously had fun. What occurred to me, is that I have played a lot of other sims and enjoyed them a lot, but I cant remember at all ever playing a flight sim that made me laugh. I really think we could use a bit less seriousness sometimes. And an easier way for people to access this hobby. This guy needs a better sound-card, though!

I don't have a million XP, nor am I a Gold Landing Master. I have not gotten all the Aerocaches yet, certainly not the Curvature of the Earth, nor am I any good at the Gold Rushes. But, I did just make my 500th landing in Flight: A lot of those were with excessive crosswinds! Best regards. Luis

Now that the demise if MS Flight has come and gone, has there been any information out of the Flight studios about what was originally planned for the program in the short and long term? A road map if you will of what scenery areas were considered, aircraft that were planned? What new software features were in the works? Was there any thought on aircraft to complete the achievements for speed, altitude, distance, cargo and passengers? I'm just interested to know what direction Flight was intended, and what we will miss out on. The cancellation of Flight reminds me of the demise Canada's Avro Arrow program.

http://www.lighthousefriends.com/pull-state.asp?state=AK This is a very neat site about the lighthouses in Alaska. I got interested in these after finding the ones in Hawaii. My plan is to visit each one and get a screenie as time will permit. If you find one and can post a pic, please do so in this thread. It is one more interesting thing we can do in Flight.

87 mile job in to Princeville. Took off and climed to 15,000 feet and flew stright to the airport marker and landed with no trouble. I have never been intercepted on any of these jobs, be it the Rv-6, Maule or the C-46. Most of the time I will take a parallel track at 500 feet but I have been getting more adventures as of late and paying no attention to the co-pilots warnings.

Hello guys/gals, So I have been flying a TON of jobs in Alaska. I like to visit as many of the airports as I can, some are dang hard to get into and others I would have never ever gone there. So with these jobs, it makes it a lot of fun for me and my pops to fly around on Multi-player and do jobs and explore. Anyways, I was thinking. Most games have Mission Editors I know flight is done with, but what would it take to have a mission editor? I was thinking how cool that would be to make our own missions from here to here to there, ect. That way we could maybe have a community upload or download or whatever to import new jobs into the game. This could allo…
