From Loki on the Microsoft Flight website, this link will give you all of the aerocaches to date and their coordinates. Thanks Loki. https://news.microsoftflight.com/blogs/news/default.aspx

This is a fun one. Takes a bit of flying to find it. That's what we're supposed to do isn't it? Enjoy.

Back when I started flying, one of the most important lessons I learned was to always look for a place to land. It didn't matter what speed I was flying, nor what altitude. My IP constantly drilled me on where I would land at the time if I had an engine failure. This was on every flight and many times during the flight. It soon became second nature to always have a landing area picked out just in case. Take off from any airport, climb to 3000 ft. and cruise. Now, press "B". You've just lost your engine. You should know your best angle of descent, your best airspeed, and already have a landing destination in mind. I would suggest you pick two just in case. Let us k…

Some information from The steam Forum. Odd (thread) title isn’t it? So, you may have heard us mention that we have a private build of Flight we are testing on Steam and we are looking for people to help us test. I will be contacting some of you fine community members to see if you want to assist in testing this QFE build of Flight. If have been hitting persistent crashes (the non tree/mountain side related kind) please email us at [email protected] so we can see if some of you out there would be a good test case for us. As Solicest and I have stated, this is not new content, it’s not new planes or changes to the Sim base for Flight, it is a test for a patc…

This one is certainly "nestled" as the description says. I found it to be one of the harder ones to collect. Enjoy.

There are 138 (+-) seaplane bases in the Alaska Pack. From these ones I have checked out so far, there are no Jobs listed for any of them. Also, because there are no markings, it is very difficult to actually land, or do touch and goes, on the runways. I've used the clunky method of taking off first, and then trying to land on the same spot, but that is hit and miss also. If anyone has a more reliable method for landing on the seaplane runways, please let us know. I wonder if MS ever had a plan to develop these 138 seaplane bases, and planes, and jobs for them to do?

Edit: Srry mods, meant to put this in hanger chat! Below I have linked two graphics demos done in realtime on modern hardware. The first was done with the Unreal Engine 4 run apparently with a single Nvidia 680. The second, equally impressive demo (maybe more-so) is run on unknown hardware, but is also a realtime demo. I keep wondering why, even as the rest of the computer gaming universe races ahead towards near photo-realism, the Simulation market, which was once on the cutting edge of new graphics, is falling further and further behind. (years behind) and falling even further as we speak. I hear people talking derisively of "mere eye-candy" and once upon a …

Yo folks The other day it happened to me something out of the ordinary in Flight, AND with the C-46 : an engine failure !! I'm not very sure on how it happened, or what happened, but I was flying with friends, I popped up among them and here is what I saw : My left engine was dead. Nothing more to say

I happen to have the October 2010 issue of Plane and Pilot magazine, and on the cover was the Carbon Cub. In the article written by Bill Cox with photos by Jessica Ambats the specs are listed along with a very interesting article about the Cub's performance and utility on a trip through the inside passage in Alaska. The photos are very well done also. As for the specs. Base price - $163,000.00 Gross Weight (lbs) - 1320 (which by the way is the FAA limit for LSA) Empty Weight (lbs) - 900 Useful Load (lbs) - 420 Fuel Capacity (gals) - 24 Payload (full std. fuel lbs.) - 276 Payload, one hr. fuel plus res. (lbs) - 360 Performance is list…

Don't tell me it doesn't exist. I am sweating every night because of the heat. Reminds me of what a wise man once said: "Life is but an illusion, the only thing that is real is air conditioning." Meanwhile, back in Alaska, the lakes are starting to ice over: Nice effect. Probably not realistic, though. From what I hear, global warming is also affecting the Far North. Best regards. Luis

Thought I'd check out Russia this morning. Loaded up a C-46 with a full bag o' gas and took off from Wiley Post Will Rogers' runway 24 at 0810 local. Maintained runway heading. Passed over Vrangelya Island, which rendered as a smudge. Over Vrangelya, I Alt-Tabbed away from Flight to do other things. When I got back to Flight, I was just north of Yukon, Canada, approaching Point Barrow from some 500 miles east. I had circumnavigated the globe along a rhumb line at about latitude 71N. Only took me 6.5 hours, and I still have 33% of a tank left---Hmmmm :-)! I'm indicating 130 knots at 18500 feet, with 35% power, 70% prop, and auto-lean. At this rate, I should …

I try to land at as many places as I can while doing jobs or hunts or any flight plan. And I have come across a few locations that seem interesting and out of the way. Nixon Fork Mine This strip is Northeast of McGrath and was on the site of an important gold (and copper and silver) mine, but I believe it is no longer active. What I found interesting about it is that usually these gravel or dirt strips are down low in a valley surrounded by plenty of trees and hills. But the Nixon Fork Mine airstrip is on top of the hill: This doesn't mean that it is particularly easy to land there. It is still surrounded by trees and hills. Not only diffic…

Hi everyone, How did you guys obtain the C-46? I made the mistake of purchasing it from STEAM and now find that I am prevented from downloading it unless I first reinstall Microsoft Flight via STEAM and, it would appear, repurchase all the aircraft and the Alaskan Wilderness from the STEAM Store! I've added the Flight shortcut as a non-STEAM product to my account and this has enabled some features, but not the association of DLC such as the C-46 with Flight. STEAM are refusing a requested refund and instead are offering a Store Credit against any future purchases. I have been a member of STEAM for many years and have several games installed and supported and h…
