Looks like we're getting tours of cities in Alaska now. I like this. Turn off the HUD and aerocache marker and make it more challenging. It also helps you sightsee around the cities. Enjoy.

Hi, I'd like to use my Saitek trim wheel with MS Flight. I'm hitting a couple of wierd issues trying to set it up:1. In the aircraft controls page, when I select this controller, it assigns a bunch of buttons that don't exist on this controller...2. When I look for trim axis - there isn't one. It seems like there is only a "trim up" and "trim down" - but those seem to be button pushes, not an axis.Am I hosed - is there any way to use this? I'd also settle (for now) to assigning the mouse scroll wheel to it, but guessing that's not possible either? Thanks,Scott

Officially called the Municipality of Anchorage. Not very difficult to find and a very interesting area to just fly around and see what you can see. Steve for Rick

We get to hunt for another crash site. Some members have mentioned they have seen this one already so it shouldn't be a challenge for them. Enjoy.

This has been discussed before but I cannot find the topic. I have landed at 401 unique airports. Exactly how many airports are there? Do we know how many are land vs sea? I have not started the hunt for all the seabases yet but that will be next. This has taken a lot of time but I still run across interesting things all the time. Even started googling some of the remote airports to learn about the unique villages of Alaska. Been a great thing.

Probably old news to most of you, but I just figured out that any landing anywhere counts as an official landing. Land on the grass, on the beach, on a roof, on water ... they all count. That opens perspectives to increase your number of landings - just hop around the countryside until you're tired of it. Still, I must say I'm a bit disappointed ... as I am by the fact that Flight doesn't include some kind of "landing analysis". Oh well ...

Not for the "Autoland" crowd. :LMAO: This is Kasitsna, a sand and gravel strip on Kasitsna Bay. It is about 800 feet long and curved (dog leg!) Here are the Notams: - SURFACE IS SAND AND GRAVEL BEACH. - RWY SIDE SLOPE IS 10%. - APCH TO RWY 28 BLOCKED BY HILL - RWY HAS SLIGHT DOGLEG; - RWY FLOODED AT 16.5' TIDE. - LARGE ROCK ON BEACH APPROXIMATELY MIDPOINT OF LANDING AREA. I love it! :yahoo: Of course, the real thing doesn't have any trees on the beach to make your life difficult, unlike Flight, but then the Flight version doesn't have a dog leg, or a big rock in the middle of the strip, and doesn't flood at high…

I just got the 1,000 landings Award. I did the last 50 to get over the hump with the Carbon Cub. I picked some long runways and using full flaps did constant touch and goes. All that is needed is to take off with full power, clear the runway, cut the power, shove the stick forward, flare and touch down. As soon as the wheels hit the runway add power and do it again and again. When you run out of space, climb out, crank a tight 180 and land again. Fun to see how many times you can repeat the process in the length of the runway. Don't stall out! Of course it could be done on the water also I think as long as you use the CC. Steve

I got a new joystick, so I figured to go back and do some of the challenges, including the obstacle courses and hoops. Those are the ones where extra points are earned by doing aerobatics. Here are my extra aerobatic points: 10 points for a roll: 55 points for a loop: 1000 points (!) for... crashing! :LMAO: Of course, just because I have a new joystick doesn't mean I am good with it. And evidently I failed the obstacle course. Best regards. Luis

We're getting into a new area with this cache. If you haven't flown around the Tok area, then take some time to do a little sightseeing. I'm going to suggest that if you want to do a little flying before getting the cache, then you start a Nome or Brevige Mission. If you start at the CGS, you'll be very close to the cache. Enjoy.

Hello MS-Flight airmen and devs, We are busy preparing FaceTrackNoIR for MS-Flight and would like some more info on how to translate joystick axis to in-game camera-movement. From some info on the WWW and through 'trial and error' I have managed to get most axis working. However, to achieve this I have to edit the standard.xml file and to safeguard that I have made it read-only. But that's not really user-friendly, is it? So these are my settings: <Axis> <AxName>XAxis</AxName> #XAxis means X axis <Index>0</Index> <EventName>EYEPOINT_SET_LATERAL</EventName> #x movement, so u can lean out of plane <AxScale>…

For those that believe that you won't get nailed by the law when you fly higher than 1000 ft. AGL, I'm here to tell you that eventually you will. I flew a clandestine from Clear Lake this morning and about half way to my destination, my passenger spotted the plane. I was at 8000 ft. at the time. The plane went away. But after a short time it came back. I decided to try to evade it, but it kept coming. So in desperation I dove down to tree top level and started flying valleys about 90 degrees from my target. No good. The law kept getting closer and closer. Finally, I was busted. Mission Failed. This is the first time I've been captured when flying this high. Just …

There are plenty of seaplane bases in Alaska... at least, on the Map! But, there is nothing in the scenery to let us know where to land. I was flying from Yakutat towards the North and noticed a seaplane base on the Map. Why not try to land there?, I said to myself. So, just using the Moving Map as a guide, I did! In the Cub, to top it off. And it worked, surprisingly enough. My Pilot Profile incremented both my total landings and unique airports counts. So, I tried again at Sedovia: And, once again, this registered as both an unique airport and another landing. So, from now on, every time I…

I have come to the conclusion that pilots in Alaska are crazy! I don't know what else to think. This in Nanwalek. It is the strip of beach right between those 2 hills up ahead. Here is a close up view. Now, I simply don't understand how one is supposed to land here. There is no approach pattern, just hills and tall trees. These pilots are insane! So, I decided to give it a try. The only way I could see is by skirting the side of the hill. There is no way to avoid brushing the tops of the trees. Crazy, I tell you. Best regards. Luis

I flew a 47 mile clandestine mission during the day with the C-46 in isolated thunderstorms into Shishmaref. The wind speed varied anywhere from 14 to 80 knts and from ever direction. with very strong Up and down drafts galare, I could never get over 3,000 feet. I was almost inverted a couple of times. Stalled out and almost driven into the ground several times. I heard from the co-pilot " nice way to add spice to the flight, but not a good idea on this particular mission". He repeated this warning 8 times in 47 miles during the flight. My fuel consumtion was way over that I throught it would be due to running at 100% power the whole trip. I was really sweating the landin…

Well after "playing" for some time now with MS Flight, I have made up my mind that there is nothing to beat the old FSX. In Flight you only have Hawaii to "play" but with FSX the whole world!!! So good buy Flight and hello FSX. stelios
