I don't know if I've been here or not. Nonetheless, it's another Iditarod checkpoint. Enjoy.

Ah. Quail Creek. I've landed here. Time to go back. Enjoy the flight.

Today we're back in Hawaii looking for another waterfall. This one is on Maui. It also sounds familiar. I'll have to check this out. Enjoy. Note - This is a repeat of 10/12/12 except the description is slightly changed. I checked it in the sim, and It showed I had not collected it, which I did on 10/12. So, I flew over and collected it again. I guess all can do the same unless the AOTD changes later this afternoon.

This morning I droned from Adak to Kahului in the C46, a long flight :-). That started me wondering about the average duration of my flights. I divided my flight time total by the sum of my landings and crashes. I came up with .3036 hours, about eighteen minutes per flight, on average. I don't know what to think about that, but there it is.

I dragged the C46 down to 41 degrees from Unalska and managed to fly to Hanna. Flew at 30 to 40% throttle ,140knts, 10 000 feet ,clear skies in January, arrived 7 hrs later with 10% fuel remaining. Interestingly there is blue ocean the whole way, no green/brown abyss like you find off the other coasts of Alaska. Tried this once before but went off course and ranout of fuel as my Gmap disconnected from Flight.

Thanks to Basys, I find out that the AOTD for today has been changed. It is now McCall Glacier. This is a repeat of 12/6/12. So, if you were quick, you might get two that you might have missed. Enjoy. Thanks Paul for bringing this to my attention.

  10. Hi Folks Had thought it might have been today, but Tatitna is a repeat, and tomorrow is Flashback Friday. If Saturday's 02/02/2013 AOTD is not a repeat, then it should become the 200th unique Aerocache Of The Day. Happy Hunting. ATB Paul

AlbacoreTunaman presents another cache for our enjoyment. This one in Alaska, and apparently has something to do with silos, produce, and docks. This should be a fun one. Enjoy.

Hmmmmm. The world's most northern 36 hole golf course? Gee, you think this one might not be in Hawaii? I bet it's tough to get a tee time here because of the short golfing season too. That is unless they use orange balls. Enjoy.

it seems quite a few people are learning more and more about VOR navigation thanks to Flight. Probably because there is no GPS yet in the popular Maule and RV-6A. The lack of GPS isn't a bad thing, though. Using VOR is far more fun then simply following a line on a small screen (or following a yellow destination marker...). I am one of those people who learned to use VOR thanks to Flight. Which means I am pretty new to it all. So I'm no expert! But I am able to get anywhere using VOR and to keep my situational awareness as high as possible. I just don't know or use the right terminology every now and then... Using VOR is a lot of fun because it keeps you busy (and e…

Not sure what "nesting" has to do with this, but some of us are old enough to remember this series about a Private Eye that was filmed in Hawaii. It was considered a "Magnum" hit at the time. I am assuming this is where he lived at the time. Enjoy.

Hello everyone, One day my planes (all types) started to move VERY slowly while being on the ground. Sometimes I need to use full throttle just to taxi to a runway and then I can't gain enough speed to take off even using very long runway. I looks like it's not a brakes/flaps//fuel/passengers/wind issue. Did any of you have the same problem and found the solution?

This should be the Iditarod checkpoint #6. It is a repeat of 7/23/12. I guess if you missed it then, you can collect it now. If I remember, this was a bit of a challenge to collect. Enjoy.
