If you have trouble logging in to Flight today, this is the reason. Server maintenance is taking place from 0900 - 1700 hrs. Pacific time. http://steamcommunity.com/app/203850/discussions/4/828935673189163161/ This might be why we've had inconsistent AOTD's this week. Tomorrow should be better. Fly on.

Something strange going on here again. Just checked in the game and Hinalele falls aerocache shows one hour remaining, still should be Ladd field I think. Anyway I went out and got it. Sure looks familiar but all these falls look somewhat alike. Edit: Well, it is on the permanent aerocahe list way down toward the bottom so I guess I got it twice. Steve

If you're flying the Maule, and there's a 68 knot wind, you might want to give up and divert to somewhere else. I should have done that myself this evening.

Today in a multiplayer session, the host had set steady 68 knot winds at Upolu airstrip. It was great fun, but I was never able to contact him to find out what settings he used to achieve those wind speeds. Does anyone know what settings to use for these high winds?

  7. As of 15 min. after the appointed hour when I checked FLIGHT is off line. I will not be able to check again until much later. So I went out and got Honolii cove again by flying under the bridge. Steve

  8. During the regular work week, I have opportunities to flight sim but no access to my home FSX rig. I recently acquired a decently spec'd laptop and installed MSFlight. With an old joystick and headphones, a traveling flightsim computer has been possible. With MSFlight, I've enjoyed the "fun" flights but really want to do more serious simming with it to keep my "stick" and instrument skills sharp. My questions: 1) What is the "best" aircraft for accurate cockpit procedures and IFR work? 2) Which of the scenery packages is "best" for instrument procedures? 3) Is there any kind of "real" weather available? Please feel free to offer any other suggestions or comments …

I was looking down through the Areocache hunt list and found two that were not checked. Iditarod check point #2 Willow and Hanakoa falls. My list has Hanakoa falls listed twice. One of them was not checked. I sure thought that I had Willow already but I guess not. But I know I had gotten Hanakoa falls already. So anyway, I went out and got them both. That puts me up to 282, still some missing. Steve

This is supposed to be one of the "most breathtaking" of Kauai's waterfalls. It's a good thing we can fly to it, otherwise we would be facing an uphill 4 mile trek through the rainforest. This is the correct name for this waterfall based on information taken from Geology.com. Hanakäpï‘ai Falls Kauai 22.188611 N 159.597778 W It's not far from Hanakoa falls. Of course, with the geology of Kauai, that's pretty much the same with all the bigger falls. There are an unbelievable number of them on the island due to the unique topography. Enjoy.

In case you missed this one, it's a gold dredge near Chicken. It was originally posted on 11/23/12. Enjoy.

  15. Gee Whiz. I don't know what's going on with the AOTD's but this is the one that should have been posted earlier. I guess we'll get a chance at Kaltag next week. Enjoy.

Here's an interesting one. Try to make it to the summit of Haleakala in time to watch the sunrise. Since this is the second one today, I think I'll wait until tomorrow to try this. Enjoy.

  17. Today we have our next checkpoint on the trail - Kaltag. For those that are keeping track of the checkpoints, you might notice that we've skipped one - Eagle Island. I don't know why. But you'll pass right over it on your way to Kaltag if you stay with the river. Make sure you wave your wings when you do. This should be a pretty nice flight up the river. It might be a good chance to practice your gravel bar touch and goes. Enjoy.

Ya' know, I think its probably my favorite spot in flights Hawaii to just enjoy the terrain. The mountains are breathtaking; with deep valleys, steep drops, heavy foliage, gorgeous colors and wide, wide vistas. If Flight had a glider, it would be perfect! Its hard to go there and not just gape at the potential. Did I mention I like Kauai? :-) Random observation of the day.

Another waterfall in south Kauai. This is one of the toughest places to find the specific waterfalls posted. Good luck and enjoy the hunt. It's good to see the AOTD's back on track also.

I started checking on this one yesterday about 1500 hrs. and Iditarod 3 came up. I'm pretty sure this isn't the AOTD as it should be permanent now. Forward the clock to 0500 today, and it still shows Yentna. Maybe we'll see something this afternoon. If so, I'll post it then. Now it's off to SunNFun for some more setting up fun.

Ive been searching the forum and online and am unable to find anything on it. I'm a "noob" and just got into flight sims. I purchased the carbon cub deluxe and I;m enjoying it, but I cant seem to figure out how to set the VOR. Can anyone guide me thru the process? Im assuming that the unit displaying "1200" is the squak box? Im unsure why the cub has this as I dont think Flight has ATC enabled, but I just got into flight sims so I may be wrong. I appreciate the help! Thanks!

I haven't been back to Flight since development was cancelled. But I'm glad to return to see many of the same folks around here. I reinstalled Flight in my computer and now I'm ready to roll again! I tried to follow my own instructions on how to enable the auto rudder in my joystick but got a bit messed up during the process. So I re wrote it to make it simpler. "I really enjoy playing Microsoft Flight with my old Sidewinder Joystick which only has X and Y axis. The problem with this, as some of you may know, is that you must press the A and D keys for rudder control that makes taxing in airports annoying. Now this really bothers me because I can't taxi using…
