I have used FSX and P3D until recently. Those sims allow simulated emergencies. Now I use Aerofly FS and MS Flight. These sims do not allow emergencies. So this is what I now do. If I hear a siren from a police car, ambulance, or fire truck. I simulate an engine emergency. I upon hearing the siren immediately throttle back to under 2000 rpm. Then when I no longer hear the siren I pull off the choke and kill the engine (just idle in Aerofly FS) This is the way I do it because most engine failures have a brief power reduction before total failure ie. cracked cylinders, iced up carb etc. Further to this if the siren should be heard from the TV in the living room. I'm sure it's a simple thing I'm over looking. I cannot seem to adjust the Carbon Cub's nav radio frequency on the standby side. Am I stuck with the existing 2 frequencies? Want to help out and old Canadian fart set his freq. Moe

Looks like the new Microsoft Community Manager puts a lot of effort in his new job. Way more interaction with the community than ever before. Is it just because he`s good at his job or does MS have some plans in the desk? My hopes are flickering again a bit more.

I'm in need of a volunteer to post the AOTD's for Thursday, Friday/Saturday, and Sunday/Monday, of this week and the first of next week. That's Jul. 25 - 29. I have been using a Saitek yoke for all my flight sims. It seems that in MSFlight that there is quite a dead spot near the center of the pitch. I find that I must move the yoke quite a bit farther to get a reaction in pitch than with the other flight sims. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do about it? Is this effect less common with joysticks? Which ones? Perhaps an edit to the standard XML? I can barely get to a Job - the aircraft crashes the moment it spawns and I then lose joystick & keyboard input if I 'Restart Mission' (It loads using the restart) :( If I exit and choose another mission then I crash again - I can load FreeFlight OK but I do have this problem on rare occasion, I just select 'Fly' and land to fix it in FreeFlight. If I keep trying (exit game-restart game-restart a job) I can eventually get it to load but it may take as many as 7-8 tries :( usually 2-3 This just started (I thought 'joystick' at first) and I haven't changed anything except maybe using repaints, but I have been using them since before this problem started…

I've purchased Hawaii pack and Alaskan Wilderness to use with Flight. Alaskan was purchased through Steam. After many problems I've been able to download everything to Flight and fly both Hawaii and Alaska. I downloaded Flight ( not using it through Steam) and installed both Hawaii and Alaska on it but when I return to Flight, I have to re-download the all the DLC each time. What am I missing to keep DLC on the Flight program?

I really don't know what I saw. This is what happened. I was on my way in the RV6a at 170kts heading north from Ketchikan just east of Sitka in multiplayer. All of a sudden this diamond shaped thing overtook me at about double my speed. It even looked a bit like an F117. I looked in map mode to see what the plane was. Don't remember the guys name but the plane was listed as unknown and the image was that diamond/F117 looking thing. The only plane I didn't own was the C46. (I bought it since) Any Ideas? Moe

Wow, this is a first. We're going to look for a solar energy plant in Hawaii. This should be pretty cool to see. I can't believe that with all the flying I've done in this area, that I haven't noticed this. Just goes to show that there are still interesting things to discover in Flight, huh? Enjoy.

The best free (VFR) flightplanner right now is Plan-G. I am in the middle of a big move. Started last week with all the big furniture and then have been going back and forth every day getting some more stuff. I am back on the farm after 4 years in the city. Yeah! Hate the city. I had an ADSL connection for the Internet in town, but there's none of that here. So, I got a fancy wireless modem. Surprisingly, it worked very well, even faster than what I had before. At least, for a day or two. :lol: Then, speeds degraded to 0! OK most of you know I'm having Crash problems, so I removed all my repaints (2 Days ago) but just realized that 'Bluebell' & 'O'l Yellow' Basic (no vc) are still in my Hanger ??? These aren't Default Paints are they? Just wondering why so many of the players use teamspeak instead of the Voice Chat built in to flight. I used teamspeak some time back for FSX and it was OK but required a couple extra steps compared to Flight Voice. I went ahead and downloaded teamspeak 3 (new to me) so I can join in on some flights like the Airport hops but I haven't installed it yet. tia
