For some reason (other than the locked ones), my MS Flight won't let me go and 'hunt' for 2 aerocaches: the "Hakealala Sunrise" and the "Cone Island" one. When I select either of those, the program loads as normal, but then it brings me back to the map screen and on the bottom left is my plane, etc. with the note, "No Aerocaches are being tracked". Suggestions? It allowed me to 'find' several other Aerocaches, though.

For the last 16 hours "that I know of". Every time I start the game I get a off line message. Any one else or just me? Steve

New version of the Toolkit posted! Released version 0.7.0 of the Flight Toolkit. This has a small subset of changes that I plan to make over the next couple months to try to open up more types of add-on development. Make sure to uninstall the old version before installing this or you may run into trouble. Main changes since 0.5: - Removed the dependency on owning the Alaska DLC. Anyone can now use the tools - Removed the encrypted format of flightAddon packages. Custom packages can now be created by manually creating a .flightAddon file (.zip file format). More details will be released later. - Added a new command line tool to the Toolkit called SimPropCom…

I probably won't fly them much, but they are historically significant "repaints." And also so very well done, like the rest of Tristan's work, so I added them to my hanger. Steve

Hi Are there anyone using yoke-controller with Flight and how is it doing with it? Could someone recommend one? I would prefer a small one, if there are any. Few years ago (actually it was over 20 years ago) I had very small yoke, which looked like DIY, but was manufactured, which I used with my Commodore Amiga and FS 2 and was great. -eelis-

Steve will be there next Summer, but I decided to get there before him! Flying down to Talkeetna. I have the airport in sight. I rarely take a look at the fuel level because it is always in front of me on the HUD. But, since I was panning around the cockpit, I took a glance. What a gorgeous gauge! On Short Final. And parked in front of the tower! Best regards. Luis

Hey Everyone! We are continuing our Alaska airport hops! We'll hop to each land airport in Alaska! We'll start off at Sleetmute(PASL). We'll be using warbirds for fastest flight. Time: Sunday 8pm EDT UTC-4 Where: Alaska Teamspeak: msflights.jmainguy.com(not a link, but server address!) and go to MS Flight Lobby Plane: Warbirds http://skyvector.com/?ll=61.55655146501506,-156.0915527353087&chart=301&zoom=7&plan=A.PA.PASL:A.PA.4AK8:A.PA.ZNC:A.PA.AK64:A.PA.PASV:A.PA.2AK:A.PA.SRV:A.PA.6AK:A.PA.8KA:A.PA.PAFL:A.PA.PAFW:A.PA.PAFS:G.63.240553409173735,-154.71441650488816:A.PA.2K5:A.PA.01A:A.PA.PAMH

I recently upgraded my Windows 8 machine to Windows 8.1, and the first thing I noticed was that a couple of my icons had disappeared from the desktop. They were the ones associated with using G-Plan and Gmaps with FSWidgets as a GPS for my activities in MS Flight. Even worse, not only did I lose the icons, but I seem to have lost the function as well. MS Flight still works great, but I can't seem to find a way to bring up the FSWidgets window during a flight. I used to have it set up so that when I started Flight, I could also start FSWidgets and then I could open/close the inset window with a ctrl-shift-z command. I have checked the obvious. G-Plan v3 and Gmaps…

I had already gotten today's Aerocache, but decided to fly up there anyway. This is Puu Waa Waa Cinder Cone National Park on the Big Island. I guess those volcanos are still active. There was really no need to triangulate with the VORs - I just looked it up in Google Maps and then flew directly there. B) Instead of flying back to the ranch, I went down to the old Kona airporit, the one with the really rough landing surface. My Cub was bouncing around on the runway so much I was afraid of breaking the gear. I suppose this is a golf course nowadays. Best regards, Luis

Not til next summer of course, if all goes well. Who said the "Alaska Wilderness pack" was cheap? In a nut shell. Fly into Anchorage Kenai Fjords National Park Prince William Sound Fairbanks Denali National Park Talkeetna Back to Anchorage by rail with a stop at lake Hood before we departed. All in ten days. Maybe I can talk the wife into a float plain excursion in there some where. Steve

Since there are no new Aerocaches anymore, what do you think is the hardest Aerocache in MSFlight? I think for me it was the "Water,Water Everywhere" south of Big Island. Because there was no real location or landmark, just a direction over water. Took me a while to find it.

I have been spending all my time in Hawai'i because I dread the Winter. Growing up in the NY area meant 6 to 8 feet of snow every year, not to mention the cold feet and hands, the sniffles, the itchy warm underwear, etc. Now, where I am living, it is always balmy and pleasant - most of the time, I do not even wear a shirt out here on the farm. But, here I am, back in Alaska, at Bear Cove. Lots of snow, of course. They only have about 3 weeks of Summer in Alaska, is that right? I like the Kenai Peninsula quite a lot, mostly because of the interesting strips there. And there is a very nice view. My destination …

I downloaded the window 8.1 preview yesterday and all programs and settings work fine except Microsoft Flight and Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Neither will load. I get this message at the beginning screen. "Application has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows … will notify … if a solution is found." The drivers for my Radeon HD 7570 video card are up to date. Others are having this problem as reported in the Windows 8.1 forum. Has anyone tried the Windows 8.1 preview?

I have been doing a lot of jobs, lately. Mostly animals, you know, chickens, cats, pigs, dogs, ducks... Did I forget any? Oh, yes, monkeys. They have all been "Happy Animals" flights - no screeching, howling, barking, or any other upset cats on my flights. So, where's the fun, you might ask? Good point. Here are some pictures parked on the apron by the tower. So, why isn't this "real simming"? Beats me, I'm not even sure what that is. But, I'll take a stab. - A "real simmer" buys a junked B737, dumps everything but the cockpit, carts it down to his basement, and adds a half dozen screens. - The rest of us play on a table in the bedroom while the wife…

Steve mentioned the RV Checkout, so I decided to give it a try. It has been a long time since I did it, and also since I last flew the RV. So, a checkout won't do me any harm. Taxi to the runway, this little baby is already really fast on the ground. Fly North along the coast. Wait, is this the one with the.... ...Bridge! Yes, it is. I remember the last time I flew under the bridge but chickened out in the ravine. It was just too scary and too fast. But, this time I went all the way until Walter told me to pull up out of it. Still just as scary and just as fast. B) Flying very low as usual. Treetop level, that'…
