Dear AVSIM Flight Community, It has been a while since I last posted here on AVSIM, but I thought that it would be important to inform the Flight community here about my upcoming flight events. I am a member of the msFlights.net community, and I have a group flight event every Friday from 7:00 PM EST (UTC -5:00) to 9:00 PM EST (UTC -5:00). Starting tonight my flights are going to be strictly in Microsoft Flight until the multiplayer capabilities of the game are shutdown. The flight plans are going to take us to all of those iconic Flight locations. We are going to relive Microsoft Flight one last time, and I want Microsoft to be able to notice the sudden spike in se…

Hello, i`m just upgrading my Hard- and Software. I want to migrate my Flight installation to a new SSD under Win8.1 What and where do i have to backup? Last time i did it a year ago under Win7 and lost some aerocaches/mission status etc. and had to re-download the DLC`s again. But i don`t know if this is possible anymore. So what files i have to backup and where are they? Is the file structure in Win8.1 the same?

Will there be an official or unofficial update to Flight that will let us play with an offline account or do away with Live completely? I'd hate to see all the content that's already been created for this game disappear into oblivion because of some corporate budgeting decision.

It came up not marked so off I went. Fairbanks was way to close to start a hunt so I started to the north at Hardrock field. Pretty sure where it was just looking at the display. I did a nice splash and go, pulled it around, crossed the river and landed on 2L. It pays to keep checking, two more to go. Steve

The only place I have found where one could purchase the Hawaiian Adventure Pack for Flight is within the flight program. But when one makes the sale attempt, it states it can not connect to Live and come back later. Sounds odd. Can this be purchased elsewhere or is it considered too old to bother with? Thanks, TL

The search and rescue mission is probably my favorite -- has a really nice ambiance and it's a nice flight. Too bad the mission system wasn't used much further. I came across a screenshot of the Flight Mission Editor on a developer's portfolio: Looked really promising, especially compared to the FSX Object Placement Tool.

Time: Sunday 8pm EDT UTC-4 Where: Alaska Teamspeak: msflights.jmainguy.com(not a link, but server address!) and go to MS Flight Lobby Plane: Icon A5 There will be a general flight plan since it largely depends on what the Point of Interest is to the pilots. http://skyvector.com/?ll=61.5046172148738,-149.876312254055&chart=301&zoom=5&plan=A.PA.PAAQ:A.PA.AA85:A.PA.2D3:A.PA.4AK0:A.PA.99Z:A.PA.3H3:A.PA.3K9:A.PA.5L6:A.PA.4A3:A.PA.AK43:A.PA.62AK:A.PA.54AK:A.PA.66AK:A.PA.29A:A.PA.T66:A.PA.3A3:A.PA.D75:A.PA.AA11:A.PA.6A7:A.PA.85AK:A.PA.L95:A.PA.86AK:A.PA.AA02:A.PA.91AK:A.PA.AA01:A.PA.D71:A.PA.78Z:A.PA.2X2:A…

Today's Aerocache was new to me - Seasons of Change, what is that all about? In fact, the guy who proposed it may have read this post where I noticed that an object in the Terrace, B.C. Aerocache (titled "Oh, Deere") was displayed differently in Winter with respect to the rest of the year. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/402335-aotd-for-31213-oh-deere/ That's good, so that more people would notice these small touches of detail that the artists came up with. But, when I flew up to Terrace to get the Aerocache, there were 2 of them, count them, 2, in the air. Strange, could there really be two fo them down there? Yes! Di…

Hey Everyone! I'm back! We'll be flying thru the Alaska Range and exploring the many areas along the way! Time: Sunday 8pm EDT UTC-4 Where: Alaska Teamspeak: msflights.jmainguy.com(not a link, but server address!) and go to MS Flight Lobby Plane: Carbon Cubs There will be a general flight plan since it largely depends on what the Point of Interest is to the pilots. http://skyvector.com/?ll=62.80698687375903,-151.18066406360566&chart=301&zoom=5&plan=A.PA.PATK:A.PA.33AK:G.62.61389900848084,-151.45898437609594:G.62.66943591305462,-152.14379882919695:G.62.84043875845371,-151.74462890733594:G.62.84043875845371,-151.13305664173234:G.63.050312531447084,-150.78…

Another new one for me. I had not even realized that island was down there! From afar, I saw a very small flash and assumed it was the Aerocache. But, up close, it was clear that this is one of the working lighthouses. A short flight across Maui, but interesting and edifying. Thanks, Tom. Best regards. Luis

Slowly working my way up to 350. B) Entering the valley at night. The Aerocache ahead. Night landing at Honokaa. I am getting used to flying at night, maybe even liking it a little. Best regards. Luis

For some reason, the Tanacross aerocache has been a real challenge for me. Got another crack at it today and "YES". When I saw the location I knew I had to do a deep dive and grab it from the bottom, under the bridge. Alas, I had to pull out, and when I did, I got it on the top side of the bridge. Great cache. 343 and onward.

I had downloaded this a while ago and made an account; now, I have a new computer and the old installation is gone, and Games for Windows Live has apparently died, but I'm yearning to go find some Aerocaches. Is there no way? Must it be so close yet so far from my grasp?

For me anyway, since I am sure that I have never been up here. So, these are the Aerocaches that I missed! I expected to see a very large open pit mine, but it was all snow. Got the Aerocache after a long flight from Anchorage just as I was on Short Final. "X" certainly does mark the spot. And thanks again to Steve for an interesting flight. Best regards. Luis

Check out this outstanding training film on YouTube. Do a search for "uncrating and field assembly of the P-47 thunderbolt fighter 1944" Truly a testament to American ingenuity. No heavy equipment required. All that was needed was about 50 men to move parts around. I sure would love to find one of those crates tucked away some place. Steve

After travelling the depths of Alaska, Microsoft Flight is in desperate need of some new scenery. I have also realized that when coming to make new missions and challenges, it gets harder to find locations to set them . The technique to create scenery in Flight is similar to FSX (according to stone) but its difficult to understand due to how Flight is archived. If anyone has any past experience on creating scenery in FSX or have any ideas on what to do (e.g scenery development method), please suggest them here. These suggestions will be useful to the whole community and getting a discussion started will certainly get the development rolling. With some …

Hi Folks Steve - Kicking myself for having missed the latest opportunity to earn your "Under the Trestles". I'd thought I'd already acquired it, but had missed it when live, (away from home), and only "flown the flash", by setting my clock back to that date, (i.e. unearned). Similarly for "Ooiki Falls". Wonder how long it'll be before they come round again. ATB Paul

... I was flying! Of course, I had the Aerocaches to do. Here are the some of the pictures. The Alaska Hole Steve's Giant Taps May as well land there. The Alaska Radar Base I checked and that is the shape of the new-style radars! I am at 299 Aerocaches now. It would have been 300, but a Windows problem with the date prevented me from getting the Hilo Lighthouse Aerocache ... again! Best regards. Luis

I'm planning on some landing challenges and I'm struggling to set them at challenging airports. So, came here to ask! Spot any great airports either in Hawaii or Alaska? If so suggest here... Some screenshots would really come in handy and remember the airports location! Thanks,
