Best Airports of Flight

Featured Replies

I'm planning on some landing challenges and I'm struggling to set them at challenging airports. So, came here to ask! Spot any great airports either in Hawaii or Alaska?

If so suggest here... Some screenshots would really come in handy and remember the airports location! :P

Thanks,

Kavinda J.D  ^_^

A sound idea! Back in the Beta program and shortly afterwards, some fellow simmers and I compiled a list of challenging airports, airstrips and bodies of water. I will dig out some of my favourites, including images and information.

In the mean time, here's a charming little airport: Old Kona Airport. A bumpy little runway set next to the stunning Kailua Bay, which is populated in MS Flight with static boats. This is not on the map in MS Flight; however, fly south/south-east of Kona Int'l Airport and you will find it nestled next to some baseball pitches. If memory serves me well, 'Steve' has flown some touch 'n' go's here - this is highly recommended!

Anyway, I am done advocating for Old Kona. I will contribute to this over time with some [hopefully] interesting landing spots.

There are so many. I am still coming across places I have never been in Alaska. The area around Kodiak (PADQ) is very interesting. Both Alaska and Hawaii have lots of very short gravel strips surrounded by very tall trees. Just take a job and see where you end up.

I love the old Kona - there really isn't a runway there, just a very bumpy gravelly surface. Great fun. I like Panda too. But, neither of these is particularly challenging.

The Kenai Peninsula has a whole bunch of difficult places for landing and taking off!

There are lots more. Don't forget to share your adventures, even if you crash.

I don't have an image handy, but picture a 350 foot runway surrounded by tall trees and you have Clearwater - Z86 in Alaska.  After I finally put my Cub down there, I checked the job board and ehaa! I got a Clandestine mission.  I never got it off the ground.  (987 lbs. of monkeys to Adak)  The C46, even with empty tanks, never got off the ground. Go for it guys!  (I recommend the Sikorsky CH53K)

....err well the first part is accurate.
