Kind of like a stagnate water fall. I did some water skiing touch and goes off the water cliff, that was fun. But on my last attempt I got a little slow and the engine quit and over I went. That water is cold! Steve

Today's repeat AOTD is the lake above Skagway. This is a fun one depending on how you approach it. For an extra bit of fun, kill your engine just after collecting the cache and see it you can deadstick it back to the airport. This cache was originally published on 11/14/12. Enjoy.

Today we continue on down the Iditarod trail to the abandoned town of Ophir. This marks where the trail splits into the N & S routes. Enjoy.

  4. Started by 188AHC,

It appears that MSG has decided to make AOTD's 48 hrs. long now. Kittychix said this is a result of the community complaining that they can't log in each day. This is the first I've heard of this, however. I think all the members here have understood that AOTD's were 24 hrs. and some would be made permanent. I'm going to have some more conversations with Kittychix about posting some of these decisions and the process over here as some of us don't check the Steam forums regularly. We'll see what happens. One Year Ago Today... Flight was was born, or released I guess you would say. I remember it quite well like it was yesterday. However hard to believe, in just one short year, we had the all the excitement and activity of the release of Flight – which came a day early and caught some off guard, to all the discussions on the forums as folks got into it and tried it out – some good, some not so good, but lively none the less, to the announcement of further development being ceased just 6 months later, to where we are today. To date I have logged app 200 hours in Flight, with a little over 2 million XP, and I took about a 3 month break from it recently. But still to t…

Another waterfall on Kauai. These can be tough to find sometimes even it you look at reference material. Enjoy the flight.

  7. Started by soulwithin,

For some reason, I never get those objective markers when I'm flying a job or challenge, E.g "Land" or "First landmark". Look at 1:34 on this video - This is what I'm talking about, the arrow and the text. Kind of like a waypoint. I've tried reinstalling the game and looking in options everywhere, but I can't find anything to do with it. It seems like there's such limited support for this game, can anyone help me. Please.

I just happened to check back to the Flight site and found this freshly posted Aerocache. Back to Hawaii for a high waterfall. Go for it!

Bad night for me, could not connect to the Microsoft server. In fact, I have spent most of the evening with a bad connection to everything. So, instead of the Aerocache, I took my shiny new Mustang out for a ride. Here it is over Pedro Bay: There's something wrong with that last shot. Ah, yes, inverted. The ground crew keeps the Mustang clean and polished - it really shines! Maybe I overdid it with the reflection maps! Parked at McGrath after a fun flight. Best regards. 10. Started by Stanfitz,

I thought I knew where it was (SouthEast of McGrath). I've flown around that area all morning and the pointer is always "out of range" Can anyone give me some clues on how to get this AOD?

  11. Started by 188AHC,

Well, it looks like someone woke up the hamster at MSG and got the real AOTD posted for today. Another fine one by Albacore Tunaman I'm sure. Enjoy.

  12. Started by 188AHC,

Here it is 1900 hours ET and still showing Yentna so I guess we have no AOTD for today. Maybe we'll have better luck tomorrow. I left a message for Kittychix (if she's still around) asking about the status of the AOTD's. Perhaps I'll get an answer.

I've been checking Microsoft Flight's site ever 30 min or so since about 1415 hrs, and it is still Yentna. I keep checking and it today's AOTD comes up, I'll post it. If I happen to miss it, I would appreciate some posting it so we can keep track and discuss it in the right place. Thanks fellow pilots.

I notice now that the load times for Flight are very short, much shorter than they used to be, which is really nice. I assume that maybe this was a result from the last update they issued? I think it was shortly after that, when I basically went on a sabatical from Flight. Now it seems like I can have a flight loaded up and ready to go in a very short time. Pretty cool that they pushed out an update after new development had come to an end.

  15. Started by 188AHC,

1430 hrs. ET and the AOTD on the Flight website still says Yentna. Don't know what's going on, but sure hope this gets fixed soon.

Hey gang, Ok so I am new to this aerocache hunting thing, just starting with them yesterday. So finding that I liked it, thought I would start grabbing some that are available. When I go to aerocache hunts under activities, it shows me some that are available, or at least what I assume are available. So this morning I started the Iditarod 5 - Finger Lake hunt. I took off from the recommended airport, and with GMap loaded up started following my course. Somewhat of a long flight. Finger Lake is just a little ways northwest of Wasilla. I made it to Finger Lake, and circled around the lake, and the aerocache sensor never went off. Dissappointed I landed at Palmer and s…

Booted up flight yesterday and did some Alsaka exploring before dropping into a mostly full room in Hawaii. It was the familiar mix of Flight newbies asking why other peoples planes were flying saucers and whatnot, and I did several leisurely passes in the vicinity of other fliers before wandering off to do some housework. Not thinking (my bad) I left my plane center-line at the very edge of the runway where I thought it would be easy to ignore........ But 20 minutes later when I came back, everyone had landed and surrounded my plane in a semi-circle, apparently just waiting..... So I hastily take off, noting all the other planes starting their engines and fol…

I have not done a clandestine for a while. So I went to St George island and sure enough there was a under cover job to St Paul I island. I took the C-46 to 10,000 ft and immediately started the let down to the destination, it is only 39 miles or so. Lots of crabbing from the co-pilot and several dire predictions, but no problems. I have yet to be intercepted and I have done a lot of these. They are fun and I will start looking for more again. Steve

  19. Started by 188AHC,

Iditarod 3 Yentna is showing up again as the AOTD. I just checked it at 1500 hrs. ET. I'll check it again in 30 min.

  20. Started by 188AHC,

This is a repeat of Nov. 8, '12. I remember it being a fun one. If you missed it earlier, now's your chance to collect it. Enjoy.

I've gone to the MS "Marketplace"to acquire the Alaskan Wilderness Pack but I am getting no response when I click on "Buy for PC". Next to that it says "free". I realize that MS is not coming out with additional Flight products but I figured I could get what had come out. I can't get "free" or "buy" to work. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks, Robert

Hey everyone, I've been lurking these forums for a while, but there is something I've been struggling with that I need your help with. Before you just direct me to the thread from April on how to do Facetracking in Flight, that's not what I'm looking for. Now that TrackIR is officially supported with Flight, one would think that would make it easier to use FaceTrackNoIR (a webcam based facetracking program that can emulate TrackIR) but I'm still having trouble getting Flight to recognize it. I can easily get the program to track my face (with the little yellow lines) but even with the 'Fake TrackIR' protocol running and the proper .dll files it still is not reco…

What in the world is going on with the Aerocaches? Today's AOTD is a repeat of 2/1/13 which is a repeat of 1/3/13. This is the third time this cache has appeared. I would venture to guess that anyone that flys Flight and hunts the AOTD's has gotten this one by now. I sure hope someone from the Flight team reads this and lets us know what's going on. OK. enough beefing. If you don't have it, go get it. It might not come up again for another month. ENJOY?

  24. Started by 188AHC,

Surprise, Surprise. They fixed us up. We now have the Iditarod checkpoint that we should have on Thursday. To all Flight pilots - Let's go get it!. Enjoy.

Oh goodie, a waterfall in Hawai'i! And this one is on the Big Island! Whodathunkit? I like to see what the web has to say about places like this, so here's a link to one person's opinion: http://www.world-of-waterfalls.com/hawaii-hiilawe-falls.html As usual, you start at Waimea-Kohala, PHMU. Extra credit is given if you fly the Aerocache at night! So much for saying yesterday that the AOTD "should be" in Alaska, as Tuesday's was in Hawai'i... Now what am I going to do with this parka? :(
