Hi guys im new here and I have a few questions that I would really like to resolve, thanks in advance -If I earn a standard aerocache then that aerocache becomes AOTD can I earn it again? -What is it like flying with a Xbox controller.Im very new to PC gaming however I have four years Xbox 360 experience. Please could anyone tell me what the controls map across too? -Finally when landing the Stearman I nearly always lose points on the vertical section I believe this is because I struggle to get the back wheel on the floor. Thank you!

Today's repeat cache is at the mouth of the Yukon River. It's not as easy as you might think. This was originally posted on 11/22/12. Enjoy.

This will be out last village checkpoint for the next 130 miles. So if you need anything, you better get it now, especially fuel and food. Enjoy.

This waterfall could be a tough one to find. According to the description it's deep in Waimea Canyon. Sounds like a good one for the CC in case you have to make a hammerhead turn. Enjoy.

The first time we found a "Gold Dredge" in the Alaska Pack, we were impressed with the detail on it. By the time our user community found the 7th, 8th, and 9th dredge, it was obvious that MS had a collection project / mission / challenge in mind for these. According to my records, there were 15 named as AOTD's, with several noted as repeats. Quite confusing! Perhaps one of our beta testers has seen the list? Nome has quite a few, but after checking the AVSIM posts, the Steam posts, and the Aerocache.Net posts, no one says there are more than 3 close to Nome. So I was quite surprised the other day to find a 4th dredge just outside of Nome. (another Cub low and slow discove…

I bought my trackIR last summer and used it extensively for the first 6 months. Now I find that I'm reluctant to turn it on as I've become more apt to grab the mouse and move it for better views and wider shots. Almost seems as though I missed a lot of the natural camera angles before I started using Trackir. Maybe I've become better at multitasking  . Anybody else with the same experience? I noticed quite a few ads in the Buy/Swap Avsim forum for people selling it off.

Sharing images is a form of self expression and creativity that rivals words in our hobby and others. It's with this interest that AVSIM is pleased to announce a new set of image policies which allow for more self expression and creativity! If images are hosted by AVSIM: No more than 10 images per post Image weight and size restrictions remain the same Image will now be allowed to be stored for 120 days, rather than 90 If images are hosted by a another site: Up to 20 images per post Images will be forced to a maximum of 1024 pixels wide when displayed in the forum (or a size smaller as to not exceed the width of the reader's monitor) - clicking on image will disp…

Checkpoint #3 for the Iditarod. Looks like they answered the question about checkpoint #2 - Willow being repeated. Enjoy and watch out for trees.

Ok now this is strange! I have been using GMap for Flight, for many months now. Always, the little white airplane icon on GMap, was oriented in one direction only, no matter which direction the icon was moving as I was flying. It was basically pointing northeast, whether it was moving east, west, north, south, etc... So anyway I start my flight this morning for the latest aerocache - now all of a sudden, at least for this flight, the icon oriented itself appropriately! As I was heading due west, the icon turned and pointed itself west. Just curious why it now is doing this correctly, now of course the next flight it may go back like it was, time will tell, an…

 good day to all, as the lack of response in the group on facebook ms flight, I offer you this question. In ms flight there is a method to install planes and scenery for FSX world? I unzipped the file. packs and surprise, I find myself in exactly the same folder of FSX. I must say one thing knowing that ms flight would be a failure, they could at least make it compatible with FSX (scenarios planes etc..). I hope that in the future some programmer to finish. Thank you.

From Kittychix: Have you been messing around with the Flight Toolkit that was released a few weeks ago? We want to see what you've been working on! Send us a screenshot or two of your favourite designs (and if you'd like, if you have it hosted somewhere, send us that link too, so other Flight players can download your work!) Email them to us at [email protected]! https://news.microsoftflight.com/blogs/news/archive/2013/03/18/community-screenshots-how-did-you-park-there.aspx

So. Here is a stupid random challenge I set for myself. 1) Choose a likely plane for flying in Alaska 2) Set some up some nasty (windy/rainy) weather in winter conditions (psychological effect) 3) Pick a random area with mountainous terrain and plenty of trees (Set scenery to dense) 4) Coast around enjoying yourself at below FL 3000 5) Choose a random moment to cut your engine (and keep it cut!) 6) Can you find an open spot and land without crashing? Hey, I said it was random! Interesting the tension factor you can get at a few hundred feet up with airspeed dwindling while you frantically scan for an open spot that is not als…

I was just itching for a chance to take my Black-Ops Mustang out for a Clandestine Job. I figured if the RV showed up, I could easily outrace him (Beat the heat... get it? No? Oh, well, I tried.) So, I set the time to night and went looking - finally I found some clandestine action at Neknak. Great, chose it and went to the Hangar and guess what? All the airplanes are blocked except for the Maule and the Cub. Too bad, too bad. No way to take the Mustang out for a Clandestine Job. O.K. then, here is the Cub on a Black-Ops job flying really low over trees: And flying really low over the wasted tundra: Scary! And flying r…

Another aerocache from Air1. This one should be fun. I've never heard of this place so it will be nice to learn something. Thanks, Steve. Enjoy.

One of the subtle visual effects I like in Flight is the little scratches in the cockpit glass - really helps the feeling of being in a cockpit, especially when the sun hits them. With all the repainting going on, is it possible to add a few more, deeper scratches, small cracks, stone chips or other imperfections to the glass? I'm sure it would be a pain but a really beat up, dorty Cub or Maule texture set would be cool!

Hey, I've been using the Flight toolkit recently and since windows did some updates the program crashes. I open a current project and go to add item, and make new liveries for exsiting A/C and click next and the program crashes. Has anyone else been having this issue? In event viewer it is listed as app error and .NET runtime error. F50ACE

This should be interesting. A pool surrounded by forest. I suspect most of us have probably seen this pool and didn't pay it any attention at the time. Now we get to go hunt it on purpose. Enjoy.

This was another nice find. Has anyone else found this tractor elsewhere in Flight, or is this unique? If so, it was probably placed there as a future mission or cache, similar to the tents on Denali, and other unique objects. How many more of these Easter Eggs are out there just waiting to be discovered!

Can any of you confirm that you have been able to use a new livery in a multiplayer session with someone else who also has the same livery and have that person show up with the correct livery and not a UFO? I'm getting one or two people saying they don't see the liveries working in multiplayer, but I haven't ever tested it myself.
