I live in the Tropics so I see colorful scenery every day. I mean really colorful, sometimes outrageously so. That's why I found Hawai'i somewhat bland, or perhaps the word is "drab". To my mind, trees and buildings should have been extremely colorful. I certainly did not expect Alaska to be full of color, although on second thought there probably is a lot of that. So, I was a little surprised to land at McGrath and see this: Well, that's a pleasant change. Red houses, colored roofs. Sure hope there's more of that. Best regards. Luis

Question: Is there a hook in flight.cfg or anywhere to turn off the yellow messages that appear in the text box when you turn on mouse control or joystick control? The only way I know how to avoid those messages is to turn the chat box off. Would be nice to just not have them appear. Regards; Fritz

I took a flight nurse and poor old sick Greg from Tatitna to Fairbanks. We landed on 20 R on the numbers and stopped. Well the General aviation parking area was like 10 miles away. So...........I water skied across the large pond between the runways right up to the ambulance. You would think that the passengers would be a little more appreciative for all the time I saved them, not. I noticed a lot of smoke coming from the other side of the airport. I decided to check it out and see what it was. It turned out to be a large chimney in a factory/ warehouse area. So I landed in a small park near by, shut down, got out and started walking toward the smoke. I was almost there a…

For those that don't know me, I'm one of those that thought I could see Flight as a potential FS next and was/is very happy with the new format and performance. I'm also one of those that doesn't care much for the gamy side of it and therefore don't use it as such and thought that the majority of us were like minded but there seems to be a lot of excitement about these aerocache things lately and I really am left wondering whether I'm on my own or whether I'm missing something. So what am I missing?

  6. If you look carefully, you can see the landing gear reacts to how much weight you're putting on it in MS Flight. Here's a picture of the Maule with maxed fuel: And here it is sitting empty: The Cub with full tanks: And dry: The RV-6 bagged out: And drained: I also wanted to see how much the RV-6's nose strut compresses when going to high-power with the brakes set, because the effect is visible from the cockpit. Full power: And at idle: I've put them into an Album, as that makes it easier to see the effect by flipping back and forth between pairs of images: http://imgur.com/a…

Good morning, I opened this topic to tell you frankly that the strategy of microsoft flight is painful to say the least. First of all you can not make a base so miserable with 3 isolatte Hawaiian cross. not to mention the dlc scenarios and aircraft for a fee. I would have used the strategy as x-plane dropping continents. beautiful graphics and very smooth graphics engine, but the clouds and rain are painful. I sincerely as I would have awarded custody of the older editions. microsoft flight to conclude this is a real steal in every sense, is a game not to invest to make money but microsoft. AND THEFT.

Do the "forests" in the Alaska scenery seem a bit thin to you guys? I know real Alaskan trees tend to be thinner and shorter than their lower-latitude cousins, but in Flight, all the forests look *too* thinned out. I've been to Alaska a bunch of times in real life (but never flying around), and the forests never seemed nearly as sparse as they are represented in Flight. It's like they are in need of Rogaine. Cranking up the scenery to Maximum doesn't help on the tree density; it just drops the frame rates. Has anyone been able to find a "lush" place in Alaska? If so, what's the nearest airport?

Tutorial updated July 3rd because of a great tip from TweakFS (Fermin Fernandez, the dev of GMap) about a standard GMap shortcut (Ctrl-Shift-z) that hide/show GMap! Now you will be able to call up GMap without losing sound! You still need to follow the tutorial in order to do this with Flight running in full screen, of course. Last weekend I started to use GMap because finding my way around Alaska using the ingame map is a bit hard. I only have one monitor and I don't like to run Flight in a window, so I switched between Flight full screen and GMap using the Alt-Tab keys. Problems: as soon as you go to GMap, Flight is hidden and when you get back to Flight you alw…

In another topic I posted something about loving the light in Flight but still finding things dark and grey compared to real life (pictures). I suddenly remembered the Dynamic contrast option on my monitor and decided to play with it a little. WOW! As if you turn the sun on! For normal use (dekstop, Photoshop, internet) dynamic contrast is way over the top for me but in Flight it REALLY seems to work pretty well...!!! Pity I can't make a screenshot of the difference (because it's a hardware thing and screenshots look the same with or without DC). I wonder if anyone else is also using Dynamic contrast? Or maybe other tricks to make the light shine even more in Flig…

Bought the Mitsubish Zero this evening, and it's great fun, very lively. What we need next, to really make me 12 years old again, is a 109E, a Spitfire and a Lancaster. And back to the Zero, How lucky is this guy getting to fly the one and only?

One thing thats VERY new to Flight (at least to me) is dealing with cross wind landings. I dont remember having to ever STRUGGLE in FSX like I do in Flight just to keep it on the centerline with even a 4kt wind. Here are some tips on good cross wind landings.First, let me say that people with full rudder pedals with toe brakes are out of luck till MS fixes it. Its being worked on. So that makes life a little bit more difficult in cross winds.OK. Tip number one. Crabbing. Many of the hard core sim vets know what crabbing is, but lets introduce this fun thing to new users. Put simply, crabbing is flying sideways. At low speed in a cross wind situation, your aircraf…

  18. How long is it going to take for them to create a basic VC for the Carbon Cub (I could see of they were doing a 777)? The development turnaround time at Microsoft is terrible. If it takes this long to develop a basic VC they need to wake up and let third party come in for more robust bush planes and environment enhancements. The experiment of going it alone has failed so far and at this rate we'd be lucky to have two more Deluxe aircraft by Christmas of this year. Please Microsoft get off the high horse and accept reality. Let this community help you because your way behind the ball of other efforts in expanding your platform at a timely rate. It shouldn't take this…

Hello. I was wondering if someone could perhaps help me out. In the pre-flight checklist when doing an engine run-up in the Vans RV6 how does one "apply and hold brakes" ? The Maule has a parking brake this plane does not seem to and just holding "x" on my keyboard does not seem to help either. Am I just missing something? Thanks! -Kyle

What the heck! It says connection error. Well, there is nothing wrong with the internet connection obviously. It is just the GFWM client that is not responding. Anyone have this happen? Live service is just not accessible. What do I need to do to get it up again? I'm sure this is nothing new. Thanks

I have to work today, so I decided to do a couple of quick touch and goes at PANC in the RV 6A, before leaving for work. I had left winter as the weather from a job I flew last night, so the runway has some light snow on either side, as I came into land. I was trying to get my rudder pedals in the proper position, and in inadvertently kicked the left rudder pedal down as I was rolling to a stop, and the RV 6A slid around sideways, and proceeded to ground loop on the icy runway surface. Have to be more careful of that from now on...... Anyone else noticed this in the winter?
