Having enjoyed (in an excited, small boy sort of way) the movie Tora! Tora! Tora! in the late 60's and seeing those P40s surprised by the enemy and doing their best to scramble to provide air-cover for the battleships in Pearl Harbour, I have been tempted by Flights P40 (despite the lack of a working interior)... So I downloaded it this evening and have been flying it around rather awkwardly from outside (not the easiest way to fly a plane!). I do like the aggressive looks and stance, and was surprised at the sheer size of it. That only became apparent after I had parked up next to a Maule. The extra hundred or so knots are handy, but am surprised by the handling, an…

Here's picture proof that SLI can double framerates... Left side SLI = 29 fps, right side single card =15. Downside is SLI introduces high levels of stuttering in Flight and panning. I read it being mentioned before, any solutions found since then, or a newer GPU card needed? Test: Appx 1300' over Honolulu looking towards airport, with the sun low in the sky casting shadows. Folks Being a chart, compass and watch navigator I need to have a true airspeed to use for flight planning. How should I establish what I should be using for the RV & Maule? I know there is a calc that uses indicated AS, and pressure altitude, but in my (admittedly fairly limited) flight training I simply got told to use X knots for whatever a/c I happen to be flying. I'm hoping there is something similar I can use (or determine) here. Cheers Mike

Like many of you, I consider myself a hard core simmer. I love everything about FSX coupled with the great add-ons that we all love. I have been enjoying flight simulation for more of my life than I haven't.Flight simulation led me to VATSIM which was a whole new world for me. I began to learn far more about navigation than then simply following VOR to VOR like I had been until then. I learned about the FARs, communication, procedure, everything. I ate it all up and craved more.Once my starvation for learning grew again I became a VATSIM controller, challenging myself in new ways. I learned the rules associated with pushing tin, even more about navigation and quickly work…

Your's truly :-) Last week I felt rather disappointed about the strange/weird/unrealistic behaviour of FLIGHT regarding post-envelope performance, namely the fact that a plane (the Icon, but at least another user was able to reproduce it using the Stearman) with it's engine running at iddle, or even shutdown, and while spinning, starts rotating wildly and then gaining altitude... I can accept it (well, I can understand...) and continue to use a flightsim, after all, all versions of MSFS had that problem too... although I know of a few platforms which, even if they do not do it to the perfection at least offer a more acceptable "out-of-the-envelope/post-stall) beha…

I assigned propellor rpm to an extra axis on my HOTAS controller expecting to be able to control throttle and prop pitch. I'm thinking there was some attempt to model prop pitch since I can hear the RPMs drop as I pull back on the axis. However, I see no increase in speed. I'm confused....

I recently bought Saitek Combat Rudder pedals, specially for Flight. I still use the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro for everything else. That joystick only has one handle for throttle, so I always use the keyboard or the VC to set the prop and mixture. Now I don't really like that so I was thinking about getting the Saitek Pro Flight Throttle Quadrant. (I like to get things from the same company ). I briefly thought about getting the Siatek Pro Flight Yoke system (a yoke plus that same quadrant) but that's a bit too expensive and I don't know if I like that yoke... or yokes in general. Specially since not every plane has a yoke (like the R-4). I noticed the quadrant isn't too c…

Folks I'm battling... I'm after the glider aerocache. Jump 'in' the P51, which according to Mr Gunston (who I'm not going to argue with) has a service ceiling of 41,000'. But I cannot get above 26k'. Well, I can, but I have to zoom through it, which of course bleeds off speed, then I lose height trying to regain it and settle back at around 26,000'. Mixture is leaned, pitch full fine, loud handle full forward. If I get it level and pitch the nose up a touch, it climbs a bit, bleeds off a few knots and again settles back to around 26k', but at the reduced speed. Eventually this comes back, so it climbs a bit, bleeds off speed, rinse and repeat. It's around 180k…

While trying to figure out how that free flight situation that put me at 85k' stored it's data, namely the starting altitude, I found lot's of interesting refences to instruments we still do not have in FLIGHT but it is ready to get equipped with, including double ADF, various engine settings, etc... Promissing :-)

I have been doing a lot of flying at dusk as night falls, and really love the reflection of the setting sun on the water. Sometimes, there is so much glare that I can't see where I am going! Best regards. Luis

MS Flight has a great feature: it automatically remembers where your plane is and in what state it is when you leave MS Flight. However, even though that is very nice I usually rather have my default plane cold and dark at a parking spot with certain weather and a certain time and a... well, etc. etc. etc. I figured out a way to do it. It takes a few minutes of preparation but after doing that once, you can start MS Flight with one doubleclick and you will always be in the plane of your choice in the situation (cold and dark or not, weather, time of day, season, parking spot, the lot) of your choice. Here is how to do it (and remember, you only have to do this all onc…

I have a problem with the hangar view. My system have 3 screen with Nvidia surround. When I open the hangar, the planes are always overzoomed and I can just see a small portion of them. Is there any setting somewhere to decrease the zoom level in the hangar ?

Hey gang, So early this morning I flew yet another job in the Maule - not sure why I like flying jobs so much, maybe because I love flying the Maule as it seems to simulate what I would think flying should be so well - that and the feeling of accomplishment and reward from completing the job. Anyway I almost always after completing a job, glance at my pilot profile. Last week I think it was, I broke 1million XP. With this flight this morning I also broke 100 hours logged of flight time in Flight - the majority of that being flown in the Maule. Alas though, my life is getting more back to normal and my time available will not be what it has been, but I will sti…

I guess I don't understand the aerochaches. (and I've flown a bunch of them) I checked this morning before 8:00 AM PDT and the aerochace was one I'd flown. I checked after 8:00 AM PDT and it was a different aerochache, but one I've also flown. Are we done with getting any new aerochaches? If so, that's a shame. And the aerochache records don't seem to agree, depending on where you look. 1. The Aerochache Hunt page says: "99 out of 53" (doesn't make much sense does it) 2. My Pilot profile page says I've completed 99 (and this seems to change for no apparant reason, it was 96 yesterday and I didn't fly any more aerocaches, so not sure how it got to …

So, I'm ferrying oen of those sniffling, wheezing, coughing people on a 240NM hike..Tootling along at 4000; weather set to Low and Threatening..Got a 22kt tailwind...Flying for about an hour, the plane is trimmed great; I've got enough fuel to get there and an alternate, should the need arise (*real weather wish*) All of a sudden, my engine dies. Nurse: Why has the engine stopped; is this an emergency? (she actually noticed it before I did as my engine sounds are quite low) Me: No, mam, this is Microsoft Flight; it doesn't do emergencies. Please return to your seat. Patient: cries and sniffles a bit more Me: scanning my instruments, tries to transfer f…

Yesterday I followed the trick to get to 85000' and get the "Round Earth" Aerocache... Strangely the aircraft used is the Icon... On the way down I was able to reproduce that awful/weird/completely unrealistic effect that I was once able to reproduce and record with the Extra in MSFS X, where with your engine OFF, during a spin, the aircraft starts rotating wildly and eventually climbing too.... I was really mad, because I was yet to find that effect in FLIGHT, and that was after a few minutes flying the p51 and finding out how realistic it was regarding the assimetry of roll rates depending on if your roll right or left (due to engine torque...) Well, a few h…

Want a idea what flying in Alaska will be like. Catch "ICE PILOTS NWT" out of Yellow Knife, North West territorties, Canada. Currently on the Weather Channel in the U.S. I think we get episodes a year behind Canada. Good show, extreme weather conditions, flying in really cold weather, burrrrrrrrrrrrr. They brought on of their C-47's down to EAA Airventure last year. Big job keeping those old birds in the air still working for a living.

Hi, I have not flown Flight for a while - but I started it up again tonight and took the RV for a spin.. Two things: - Has anyone figured out how to get toe-brakes assigned? I can never remember what keyboard keys to push when my toe brakes have no effect.. - I got a message saying that Flight or Live was going to be updated - fine, I followed the prompts, but after shutting down Flight and entering the Update Wizard, I got the following message.. is there a support forum somewhere where I can get help with this? Or does anyone recognize what might be causing this? Edit: I've sent a note to "Tell MSFlight"..

Ok, so I have now re-installed Flight AT LAST on my new rig, and can report that, side-by-side, the 3930K @ 4.7 EATS Flight on everything maxed and flying around PHTO, so it loves the extra two Cores that my 2600K didn't have. BUT - Of course, I had to re-accept the new controls in order to start the game and then re-install my old career..It seems that the Repeat section of the trim controls, (which I have assigned to my little wheel - buttons 11 and 12 - under the hat-switch on my Cyborg X) now has a value of 100.000000 whereas before it had a value of 32.000000 I don't want to break anything, but will reducing this back to ZERO as I did before, leave me with si…

Soreee..I've searched for these but can't find definitive answers.. 1. Did we ever find a way of turning off the passenger/cargo icons at top-right? 2. Ditto the mission destination markers and other orange texts? Did anyone break into the cfgs and find these? Thanks peeps J

Does anyone know how to more precisely configure the graphics options in Flight? I've tried the Flight.cfg but I don't know what ALL of it does. For example, if I put my scenery quality on max, I get low fps but awesome water reflections....what if I want the water reflections but not whatever else the Max setting adds? Are there any ways to more percisely configure this?

There I was, doing a clandestine cargo run, only 10-15 nm out from the destination, when my computer decided it was time to stop working. What's more, I haven't been able to get it to go since! If I have to replace it, can I then just redownload the main executable and get access to the other DLC I've already purchased? I hope I don't have to pay again.
