With Alaska scenery coming soon... it would be neat to set up some flights similar to what they show on the show "Flying Wild Alaska". If you hadn't seen the show, there are some really good examples of brave bush flying up there in the wild north. One mission involved taking high explosives from Wainwright (Barrow) http://skyvector.com...ight-As-Airport perilously along the Russian air defense border to Gambell on St. Lawrence Island. http://skyvector.com...Gambell-Airport see trailer for the clip here: http://dsc.discovery...isode-6-videos/

Does MS flight support muliple monitors? And how is this done? Is it one view stretched across both monitors or 2 separate views (as in FSX)? Thanks Mike Sorry for muliple post

I have Flight on an SSD and the DLC on a regular hard disk. I reinstalled Flight yesterday (twice...) and noticed the DLC was available right away. It made me wonder if the DLC is used directly from the DLC folder or if it is installed into Flight...?

Couldn't resist... One thing s criticizing the absence of a cockpit, the other is stepping into conclusions about how arcadish a given DLC may be because it doesn't have a cockpit... I had to check it myself... The P-51 is hard to fly, if you do not handle it as supposed... It's really far from being an arcade plane... Accelerated stalls are real killers in this bird, just like in the Real Thing, according to many sources. Really enjoying the feel, and those CTRL-E / CTRL-Q do miracles :-)

Don't know if this has been discussed before, but whilst we wait for Alaska.... It's possible to save the current flight state - <escape key> - Save flight, and it should be possible to transfer that flight to another user for them to complete. To try it out I've zipped up a couple of challenging flights and put them on my website http://www.keithb77.host-ed.me/ I would put them in this thread but I don't seem to be allowed to upload anything but pictures (?) "You're lost over Kauai in your RV-6, its getting dark, the weather is unreasonable and you're nearly out of fuel. You spot a tiny beach ahead, it may be your last chance to keep your feet dry...…

Last week I posted some shots of the awesome fog in MS Flight. http://forum.avsim.n...pic/368784-fog/ Today I had a problem with MS Flight: I had to do the two openings missions again... Very odd. I got that solved in this topic: http://forum.avsim.n...missions-again/ But now, SHOCK, I suddenly notice the transition from fog to no fog on land suddenly is terrible low resolution! I now see HUGE pixels and shimmering trees where the land pops out of the fog! Here is an example, this is NOT an enlarged screenshot but a part of a screenshot, so this is exactly how I see it in the game. You can CLEARLY see the pixels and when it's all moving it's even worse! …

  7. OK, I spent about 4 hours last evening and three today giving the product a run. Got to the point where I was on final with the photographer in the Van unit and BOOM, crashes to the desktop. Oh well, I figure, let's restart the product. Upon restart I get some kind of a "can't read corrupted profle" error, and guess what, I'm back to almost where I started and have to do all the missions and challenges again before I can do anything. I've sent the error log to MS, hopefully they can figure this out. Hope nobody else has to go throught this. I guess you need to backup the config buried in your user profile every 15 minutes.

A largely forgettable movie, were the central character not a charter Beaver pilot... Watched it at the weekend, supposedly set in Tahiti...but though I've never been there, that doesn't look like Tahiti to me, in fact those mountainous islands look familiar. And those Aloha airways 737s... The credits confirmed it was shot on Kauai, as does Wikipedia: "the films external scenes were shot mainly in and around Kauai in the Hawaiian Islands. The high altitude scenes and jump scene were all filmed in the NÄ Pali Coast State Park. The building that served as the airport terminal is still sitting in a field in Aliomanu Estates." And of course Harrison Ford is a real-…

Either I am going mad (something which may be evinced from previous posts on this forum) or the head-panning speed has changed since the update. Do any of you cfg-tweakers out there know which file and line I have to edit to change my panning speed? (I am using the hat-switch on my joystick) Thanks in advance jake

Ok so I am doing something I said I was not going to do, I am in the process of purchasing some DLC - had planned on holding out for native Track IR support before doing so, but well, ok decided to do just these two - after that, no more until I see Track IR support!Anyways, through the flight interface, I purchased 1600 points to buy the Hawaiin Expansion Pack. It downloaded and appears to have installed just fine. One question - on the download screen, judging by the way it showed my space available, it is referring to my C: drive. I actually have Flight installed on my E: Drive. Is this screen just referring to the dowload? Would it have installed automatically to whe…

Just a comment. When you make a landing on the bridge and drive over the bridge-road: sometimes breaks the surface and your aircraft sunks, sometimes all goes well. If you get out of the plane, you stand on the water ... Probably a matter of software development. Nevertheless, funny to do and congratulations for the details! I love Flight till now and enjoy the spectacular views (see below, Oahu sunset).

Some people say MS Flight's graphics aren't that advanced over FSX's graphics. Well, just have a look at the shadows. Even the freakin' boxes have shadows! And the lights on the side of the building (though you can't see it that well on the animated gif because I had to make it small)! You can even see the shadow fall on the 'stands' (whatever you call them) of the jetways. Also notice how some sort of 'pre-shadow' falls on the building (above the boxes) before the actual 'hard' shadows falls on it: the shadows work very well together with the subtly changing colors. I think it's a HUGE improvement. Even the boxes have shadows!

First of all. A bit on my simming background. I first got into flight sims when I picked up FS2002 from a game store in my local town, I think it was the awesome float plane on the front that struck me. I played it on my terrible system back then, couldn't even remember the specs. My major love for the hobby came with FS2004, I got really into it and spent the majority of my spare time flying the virtual skies with a community and then later on to some vatsim time too. Since FS2004 I owned a saitek X52. It's the only thing i used for simming, so maybe not as hardcore as a lot of other people, but i enjoy the experience non the less. It took me a while and a hu…

  16. Hi Guys, I have run about six or seven of these runs (without getting caught). Over the last three days I have not found any. I used my usual search method of checking the Job Board of all the magenta (no tower) airports. Is there a fixed number of these trips? Have I used them all up. I assumed they were randomly generated. I am getting despeate for things to do while waiting for Alaska. Brian

Greetings to all, First off, I am very happy with Flight. I did note that my trees, etc.. do not seem to be as thick as they look on the Windows 7 theme scenes. I have trees and bushes, but they seem to be a long ways apart. I have an ATI 4650 with 1 GB of video ram. Am I just expecting too much? The options are all get to the top (high) settings Thanks, Les

  20. My flight stats on the microsoftflight.com website are frozen at the moment I crossed over into Level 20... 500,240 XP and ~ 33 hrs of flying time. Since then I am close to 700K XP and pushing 44 hrs of flight time. Has anybody else noticed this? It's not a big deal to me, as long as it's not a symptom future trouble. Brian

    Started by Guest vonBobo,

I recently bought a used Saitek x45 and I’m going through the growing pains of learning to program it. Although, I’m not sure if Flight is causing additional problems too. I want to program the camera zoom into any of the buttons on the stick or throttle, but every button I have tried mapping to zoom only zooms the camera one “notch”, it is not a continuous zoom like in FXS. I don’t see any "continuous" setting in Flight like there is in FSX (however, I haven’t tested the x45 with FSX yet). Then I tried my hand at SST and mapped a couple of joystick buttons to ctrl – and ctrl =. The mapping worked, but depressing the button only caused rapid clicks/notches, but no…

So up until now I figured that the Icon had no slip indicator (the ball you "step on" to co-ordinate a turn), but as I was flying today, I happened to turn on the moving map (which always seems to default to off for whatever reason) and realized that at the bottom of the map, there it was. Seems like kind of a weird place for it to be, but it's cool to know it's there if you like to practice co-ordinated turns. Anyway, since I just realized it, and I have over 30+ hours in the relase version, plus some hours in the beta, I figured surely some others must have missed it as well and might be interested in knowing. My clock is showing Zulu time. (I can convert -10 hours, but it takes me a bit of thinking). Is there any way to have the clock display LOCAL time rather than zulu time? Not a major issue, but I'd prefer to use LOCAL time when flying ONLY around Hawaii.

I had problems with two of the add-ons I bought for FLIGHT, during instalation the installer issued an error and I had to uninstall MSN and use some tricks... Then, today, I stupidly bought the P51 from Steam, just to find out that it is not compatible with my Games for Windows install of FLIGHT :-( When FLIGHT is bought from Steam, and installed from there, do we still have to login with a Live Account? Have any of you had experience with FLIGHT from Steam? Do you know if there is some way for me to get my p51 DLC bought on Steam into my FLIGHT install? Thx for any answers...
