Hi all, almost everybody has heard of Prepar3D, but up until now it's been for the commercial sector. Well no longer as an academic version retailing at $49 has emerged for home use!!! http://www.prepar3d.com/prepar3d-academic/ This really changes the picture a little, I wonder what all your throughts are for Flight now that Prepar3D is a viable option for the home user. $49 dollars doesn't sound a lot to get FSX on steriods and a lot of addon's are compatible. How does this change the picture with Flight if at all. I must say I'm a fan of Flight, not so much in it's current incarnation but what it could become. The little hops accross Hawaii are certainly fun…

Yesterday I took a cargo job. Since the cargo was heavy I took only 20 % of fuel. When near destination I still had about 6 %. Successful landing in military base, just where it was marked with "destination". Nothing happens. Then pop up asking me if I have enough fuel to takeoff or if I'm stuck here (at this airport I couldn't refuel). I was taxiing around to get mission confirmed. Nothing. I took off and left for bigger airport 5 or 6 miles away. Refueled and then return back. Then I get right response and end of mission.Has anyone else had such a problem with low fuel?

I notice that even at MP and RPM at 23 square the Maule easily cruises beyond the middle of the yellow arc... The checklist even states I should be using full throttle which I guess would keep me in constant overspeed. I have flaps at -7 but even at 0 I fly too fast. Not that I mind, but it feels something is wrong? Even when I climb I easily get into yellow all the time. Anyone else noticing the same? Example:

After mostly avoiding the Stearman until now because I suck at landing tail-draggers and it's just too hard to see where you're going on the ground or when low and slow, it finally occurred to me that I can just shift my viewpoint up above the rear cockpit's windscreen, which not only lets me see over the nose but also brings the front cockpit's instruments into view. I've been hanging my head out the side before and raising it a little, but that never worked well for me due to how long it takes to change sides without TrackIR. I've also changed my standard zoom to 0.75, which puts the Stearman's rear panel right in your face when looking down at it, making it hard to …

I fear that FLight will have to suffer the invasion oh Hackers, that have ruined so many other online games. I forsee 500kt Rvs and instant level 20 players w/ 100% achievements. Oh well such is modern gaming IMO.

This game is silky smooth on my PC with max settings. I've never experienced this in any previous FS incarnation and that smooth frame rate does indeed give better immersion of 3D and motion than any before. If only FSX could be that smooth for me. The aircraft included are super easy to fly, so much so its like sitting on a comfy couch with a trim wheel. I don't have enough addon to judge sounds and flight dynamics though. After all, does anybody actually own the A5 yet? That being said, Flight didn't last an hour on my PC before I got rid of it. LOL....FS9/FSX, I'm coming home. Sacha.

Hey guys, so i was in the Steam group chat earlier and one of the devs was in the chat, so I thought i would ask what was up with the lack of stars in the night sky. I have never seen any stars, and nobody I have spoke to has seen stars. But sure enough, there are apparently stars out there. Here is a screenshot the dev posted in the chat, and a screenshot that i took. See for yourself, the faint stars in the night sky in the top picture. STARS: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/578952670167519979/9DFC9849E62FB6FACC721DB6F696C93387196F4F/ NO STARS: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/559812102324683438/5BB8F266EBC66BD9CD152B0B316A025768232D9D/ So..…

Believe this was mentioned last month but wonder if there is a answer! I can see that the hat switch is reversed on movement compared to FSX. Wonder if anyone has been able to fix this my playing with XML information. In FSX move the hat switch to the left and the camera moves to the left and around the aircraft and vice versa. In FLIGHT it is the opposite and hard to get used to. Using a Logitech Wingman Extreme 3D Pro. Any thoughts? Thanks

Hello to all of you. I have been enjoying the way this great flight simulator is. I love it. Recently when I started up my game it asked for update, so I did all what it asked to do. Re-start the game again and I did not notice an update or a change. How do I know my game is updated? What version should it shows? Thank you for you time and patience.

I know this is all pure speculation but I am a bit worried about the performance of MS Flight in the near future, when Alaska will be released but also when new options are added (if ever). The thing is: I tried the custom=1 option and enabled some higher FSAA settings (the ones I used with FSX) for my GTX580 (not a slow card) using nVidia Inspector. I was a bit disappointed to see that immediately Flight wasn't totally smooth anymore... And that while I have Scenery density and Shadow quality at High, so not even Maximum... Flying above Hawaii means you almost always have some sea in the vicinity: what if we get Alaska and mountains with trees beyond the horizon? Wha…

Afaik no one really likes to see that message N for next waypoint all the time. It's annoying and it spoils the immersion. So I thought: why not do it the other way around? Don't show that message at all anytime, but whenever someone presses N: 1. just skip to the next waypoint or 2. show a message saying Are you sure you want to skip with an option to skip or cancel and 3. show a popup for a short while saying 'Skipping not available' when skip is not available. This way you will never be bothered with that message again unless you actually want to skip. In addition MS could implement an option that IF you have pressed N and you get option 3, you would g…

Anyone else here who is using the mouse control option to set the elevator trim on the Maule or RV6? No matter what I do, the Maule and RV6 are hard, if not impossible, to trim. I constantly climb or descent when I use the knobs on my joystick or the keyboard shortcuts. So what I am doing now is as soon as I need to set a certain trim (for climb or cruise) I switch to mouse control mode, make sure I am flying at the angle I want and then disable mouse control again. This way I can at least cruise for a while without having to touch my controls... (I use a Logitech 3D Pro joystick and Saitek Combat rudder pedals.) Mouse control almost feels like some sort of AP (vor VN…

Just installed flight, I actually enjoyed it for what it is. For about ten minutes, then, in the second mission (fly to yacht), I get a CTD. Anyone else have this issue? No error message, just straight to desktop. Her ukelele playing wasn't that bad! Crash occurs right after that, somewhere near the yacht, and is preceded by some textures failing to load...I've reduced all settings, uninstalled/reinstalled, etc. My rig is solid ([email protected]; EVGA GTX 570 w1280DDR5; 12GB ram (runs FSX acceptably)

Hello, I'm a new user of MS Flight 2012. When I play offline I use my Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D and everything was ok. When I create online account in Games for Windows Marketplace I must update game to wersion 1.0.1.30023. Now i must use online account to play the game (offline stop working, why?) and worst, my joystick don't work propertly. Game don't remember change input device from keyboard to joystick. When I choose joystick and apply, game immidiatelly change my choice to keyboard. When I change controls (on keboard) game save it and graphics, sound options only save. Why this change of joystick is not remember? Sorry for my english

I noticed when doing passengerjobs, that those people are constantly sniffing and coughing and so on. I thought it was rather warm at Hawaii and didn't expect people to get a cold there all the time! If it had been Alaska, ok, but Hawaii...? Anyone else noticed this too?

Yes, 40 hours and ( world Traveler ) 5,000 nautical miles on the same day. The first time was real world 1982. That, how ever required 77 hours before I got around to the check ride. I shure was glad to get that over with! I know a lot of you people are way ahead of me. I am just having way to much fun. I still have not flown a job yet, so still have lots to do. FLIGHT still has the most realistc feeling of the actual sensation of flight of any simulator I have ever tried, and that is most of them. I really love the RV6-A, that is what I fly most of the time.

Hi, When flying at dawn or dusk I've noticed flickering cockpit shadows. It seems related to the prop strobing effect. Has anyone else noticed this? Once I realized that the prop strobe effect is not something that would normally be noticed in a real aircraft but something caused by the sampling rate of a recording, I've found it mildly offensive. In FSX I was able to eliminate it by replacing the prop texture alpha channel with one that was near black. To me this seemed more realistic; a slight blur. I noticed this cockpit interference prior to replacing my graphic card but it's present on the new one as well. I just noticed the relationship. Jim F.

I don't know if this question is possible to answer, but I'v seen a lot of high-skills Flyers on this great board. So I give it a try. I'm curious how the best graphics of the environment looks like when flying with MSF? Especially the basis environment (like grass, water, mountain, roads etc.) are interesting. Should DX11 make a lot of difference? Of course a better card will have a smoother performance on screen, a higher framerate etc., but for this post I like to focus on the maximum quality of the environment that could br archieved in MSFlight. Maybe some members with high-end graphiccards will be so kind to show what the best results of the environment could be …

I just completed a job of 200 miles, everything was perfectly smooth. Landed beautifully, and then tried to taxi to the ramp. The plane got stuck on a building where there was no wall, and I thought I'd have to either skip or abort entirely. I managed to wiggle the plane around and get loose so I could continue, but at the end, it said the passengers weren't happy. I mean, everything I did was perfect. That's just crazy.
