I'm working on a software application that converts a flight plan generated by RouteFinder to various aircraft FMC formats. Looking at a PMDG route file (EGLL LSZH MD-11 tutorial) reveals lots of 'hmmmmz'.Is there any documentation available for this file? I've found http://ops.precisionmanuals.com/wiki/NAVDATA_Data_Dictionary which only gives information on the NAVDATA files. Is there a similar page for the rte file? Thanks,

Afternoon all,My MD11 has suddenly developed a font problem - many of the numbers are now replaced by letters. The snapshot in the attachment below should illustrate:-http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/193504.jpgI've restarted my computer and reloaded FSX from scratch. All suggestions gratefully received! Thanks,James

Firstly, can I say how pleased I am with the MD-11, it surpasses my expectations. Quite Airbus like in a Boeing kind of way! When I flew tutorial 1 I had a problem with the Cruise Flight Level being apparently overwritten. Having followed the tutorial exactly, during climb out I got an UNABLE CRUISE FL message. When I checked the MCDU I saw that cruise flight level was now FL500, instead of FL370 as entered. The FCP still had 37000 selected.Any idea what might have caused this?Kevin

The "on-approach" logic allows the pilot to speed intervene and stay in VNAV PTH. It also lets the pilot set the missed approach altitude in the MCP as long as it's more than 300' above the actual aircraft altitude. I found some information in a 747-400F manual and have pasted it below. My PMDG program does shift into this logic, but it does not seem to be shifting consistent with the conditions published below. Does anyone know when the PMDG 747-400F shifts into this mode? It seems that every Boeing has a different set of conditions that trigger this event. Thanks in advance.____________ApproachThe FMC transitions to "on approach" under the following conditions:

  8. Below is a performance table (in Frames Per Second) for some default and add-on aircraft in FSX.All aircraft were loaded 3 times to check for extreme variations and results averaged. The exact same scenario was used each time - Captains seat in the VC on hold for 27L at MegaAirport London Heathrow (this is a very detailed add-on airport). For the complex add-ons the machine was restared each time before loading the scenario to prevent build up of memory. All aircraft were left for a minute or so before noting the lowest and highest FPS number. Some aircraft varied 1 or 2 FPS, some jumped up and down by as much as 8 FPS. All aircraft were in a ready for take-off state. FMC…

Hey guys, I have troubleshooted everything I could think of on the auto brakes. Regardless whether its Takeoff or Landing, RTO or any level they do not engage, sometimes I get the Amber ABS Light, sometimes no light. There are no failures set when this happens. I have completly disconected my rudder pedals, then reconnected them and remove the brake axis controls from them and still no go. So now I have no clue whats next.Any Help is appreciated.Angelo Cosma

Hi Captains. There is a mention in Ops section of PMDG web site concerning the speed control during approach:"Boeing pilots will be used to exercising manual control over the aircraft's speed during approach by using the MCP speed window. This is NOT how the MD-11 is designed. It is completely normal for the MD-11 to land with the speed window closed and under full FMS control. The FMS calculates approach speed on the basis of a few rules during the approach sequence, each distance listed is the point during the approach where these speed reductions must occur by, but they can occur earlier if calculations demand it. * 15 to 11 miles - Slats +20. * 7 miles - Dial-a-fl…

In checking some FMC functions out, to save time I loaded the MD-11 in the default engines running on the runway situation. Everything was as expected except the AIR panel was showing bleeds and packs off. I had to select manual to allow me to activate the system. I tried reselecting auto but the AIR system shutdown again. I took off in manual and eventually was able to revert to auto operation. The only difference I can see was from what I had done on other flights was that I had not used the APU to supply the pneumatics first, just going straight into an engines running situation.Only a very minor irritation really. ;)Incidentally in my rush I found I had too much fu…

Hello all,I'm just flying around offline and for some reason in the 2D cockpit my FPS counter is showing between 30 and 80FPS, in the 3D cockpit however its between 15-25FPS. Outside Spotview between 40-60FPS and wingview 20-40FPS. I heard many people say that the 3D cockpit view perfomance was equal to that of the 2D cockpit. My specs are:- Intel C2D E6600 @ 3.0Ghz- 4 GB GeIL Black Dragon RAM - BFG nForce 680i SLI- Windows Vista Ultimate 64Bit- 74GB WD RAPTOR SATA (10000rpm)- 1 x 200GB SATA 1 x 300 GB SATA - BFG Geforce 8800 ULTRA OC 768Mb- ZALMAN CNPS9700 NT TRITIUM SUPER AERO COOLER- Samsung 223BW 22Inch 1680x1050FSX setting are quite low, and with the default Microligh…

First of all,I want to give thanks to PMDG for a great MD11. On to the potential problem for me though. It's been a long time since I last posted in PMDG's forums as I have never had a problem with any of the products and when I have, I've lurked around for other people having same issues. This time though, I'm just trying to make sure I'm not crazy. Whenever I land the MD11, for instance today at DFW's 18R (which has 11,000 or more feet of runway [should be plenty]) I landed well within the TDZ at or right below my 147 VREF+5 target. Everything deploys correctly. I check that the spoilers are fully deployed the ABS are Medium with the High Deceleration box checked …

Hi,I've been experiencing AA problems in the 2D panel.See here:img137.imageshack.us/img137/9907/md11fsld6.jpg - 2D panel in Fullscreen.img137.imageshack.us/img137/479/md11wmqm5.jpg- 2D panel in Windowed Mode. Now, whenever I switch from fullscreen to windowed mode, I loose ALL AA in spot view, however the 2D turns sharp. When I switch back to fullscreen, all the AA in the spot view comes back. I recon this isn't a PMDG MD-11 issue, but the switch causes the 2D panel to loose and gain AA. Any tips on what to do?PS. If I switch to windowed mode and restart FSX, the AA (see fullscreen screenshot) comes back. DS

I think i should be giving additional input as regards ILS but i am not sure how to go about this for instance if i try to fly to EGLLand my approach plate states Hdg 300 intercept radial 001 at GWD 35D i am unsure how to do this and i guess my aircraft loses its finally tracking to destination, Most of my other flights arrive with no problems and …

I would really like to fully understand the purpose, usage, concept , and logic behind the use of Ballast Fuel.... that would go above and beyond what is explained in the manuals.Perhaps you could eloborate on how and why a pilot would want or need to use it as it pertains to adding it in the FMC during preflight planning.Thank you.Capn' Oz

For takeoff, it's not an issue because I can see the flight path in the display.I use net resources (VATSIM prc, Airnav, FSCharts.com, etc.) but the navdata in the FMS is far, far more extensive...RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.80 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT
