Dear Friends, Where in the included Manuals is the tutorial flight? london to zurich??

Thanks to those whom answered me yesterday. I just want to be perfectly clear and need exact answers if someone could compare the default 737 , the default F18 from the accel pack (which runs slightly slower than the 737) and the new MD-11. I run the default airlines great, in ultra high res on a 3year old laptop which once was the best on the market (XPS Gen2).... most sliders are high, and I use AA and Ansio etc., again... great results, a smooth 24fps locked everywhere etc. etc... but, with the MD-11, how much loss will I get in VC flying, even if I use the built in framerate tweaks in the product, compared to those default jets? Cycle 0811 is due tomorrow 23 Oct, but my collection will be a few days late. I am still recovering from the system crash and updating the huge number of changes from 0810. I've made progress (just finished the new STAR and RNP approaches at KLAX) but I've got four more locations with new procedures. I purchase both CD of teh B737 PMDG and use it with my FS9 window XP. Everything goes well, I fill my FMS and take off V nav and LNav work fine except that I can't turn on the A/T ARM at all. WHen I try it show and alarm. Also I fill the plane full of fuel and at start everthing is fine then suddenly they tell me that I have not enought fuel. Even on very short flight. Hello,Firstly let me start by congratulating PMDG on the release of the MD-11, a truly wonderful product and I look forward to years of enjoyment from it, thank you!Now, to my question -Being new to the MD-11 and it's systems I decided to start with the tutorial, all went well until it came time to land. In the tutorial it says that once you press the APPR/LAND switch, LAND ARMED is displayed above the FMA roll control window in white, this didn't happen, so I pressed it again, still no sign from any of the screens that I'd pressed the APPR/LAND switch. Ok, now I'm no computer whiz, but after helping out an online vatsimmer with his FSX ( he couldn't get it to work without freezing up on him. He has a 7300LS Graphics card I think and 2GB of RAM) I decided to do some experiments based on what I read in the forums and on what he said about his system.I tried the 3GB switch, and although I got it to work with FSX and FS9, it locked up Battlefield 2142 after 5 seconds of playing. I think I read that the exe file has to be modified for the 3GB switch for it to work. Thank you for complaining , the only reason I was not going to buy this product is that I am not a MD 11 fan. I own all other PMDG products.After reading a thread here about the low qaulity of this product I got very interested to have a look for myself and bought the product today.Well I am now enjoying this product more than my 747X . Captains.I dusted off a few old friends and fired up FS9 for a change. This is the PMDG 737-900 in FS9. I've notice an irritating pause with the sim just as the MD11 touches down. The pause only lasts a fraction of second, but it happens all the time and at all airports -addon or default. Its apparent in real time and replays, manual or auto land. It's almost as if my puter is waiting on a sound file(s) to load ...or something to that affect.One other minor concern. I've noticed that the spoiler animation does not work in replay mode. I'm comparing this condition to the 747x which does have spoiler animation.thanx,Ken

I have been using Track IR in the Queens VC. However, in order to be able to get a good forward view and see the instruments at the same time, it is neccessary to bring the eye point back to where the pilots seat gets in the way. Is there anyway of throwing the seat out of the window? Its normal range of movement doesent help.ThanksJohn

Hello everyone,I made a post yesterday about abnormal stopping distances for the MD11, which I have now pinpointed to being an autobrakes problem. My autobrakes do not engage upon touchdown or throttles idle (in case of RTO). I read a thread from Jan 14th about this same issue on the 744X having to do with Pedals and Throttles. Is it possible that the same issue exists on the MD11? If not I am at a loss. keep in mind I'm setting the autobrake and spoiler and all that jazz with no ABS OFF/DISC light whatever it says. It simply does not brake. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I had no problem in the 744X with these same pieces of hardware.Thanks,Tony N.

Flightaware just announced a professional flight planning tool free to all who register (free) on their site. It is meant for real pilots but you don't have to be one to use this service. Right now only US domestic flights are supported (without Hawaii and Alaska). If you go there and read its capabilities it offers something that I believe no other flight planner for simmers offers - automatic true searching through hundreds of possible choices for wind-optimal route to minimize trip cost. OK, let me ask a real newbee-type question. Having never operated a real aircraft, when viewed from within the cockpit, when I push forward (away from me) the right rudder pedal, in which direction does the nose of the aircraft steer/yaw? (I don't have dedicated tiller hardware ATT).This question came up in a related thread with Pete Downson and I can't beleive I may have had the rudder-direction reversed all these years.

First, it's certainly great to see a plentiful variety of free repaints (fictional and true-to-life), I was wondering if there would be a World Airways repaint in the new passenger colors? Hi,I recently followed the discussion around the issue of Boeing proprietary performance data and why it is not possible to disclose it to us (or any other perf data developer like TOPCAT - which would be ideal btw).However I have another suggestion for PMDG, maybe it makes more sense and is legally correct.Obviously PMDG has the data and makes use of it to simulate the behaviour of the MD-11.Would it be possible to include a "cheat" function in the FMC to calculate the optimum FLAPS and FLEX values? Captains,Just before turning on the engines, with APU running, I turn Packs 2 and 3 off, as recommended by the manuals.After the engines are running, I turn packs 2 and 3 on again.However, I get a warning sign (in white) during all the flight, saying "Pack 2 off". I tried all packs on-off combinations etc, but the message continues there.Any clues about what am I doing wrong?TksBPilot

Hi GuysI've just finished another short 'hop' in the wonderful MD-11.Just like my wife, this bird hasn't stopped surprising me yet.... On approach, I though I'd take a closer look at the flight deck crew from outside. What a motley duo they are!!! What is it with you guys at PMDG..... Can't you afford razor blades;-) Seriously, the fine detail you've put into stuff like that is truly mind boggling! I nearly overfly my final fix - so mesmerised was I watching the antics of those guys.What a hoot! I Love it!
