I bought a Asus PG348Q Ultra widescreen monitor today. Last week I bought a EVGA GTX 1080 8 gb card. I've had it 4 about six hours and it has transformed, everything. Flight Simulation is just totally built for this combination. I'm sight impaired and the resolution is crisp and well worth the huge cost if you're sharing my affliction. Seriously, it's a lot of money but this is the best upgrade I've done in 30 years of computing. It might sound like I'm skiting but I'm not. Bottom line: If you want a completely transformed system, this combination is freakin unbelievable and I'm not exaggerating. Heads up. This is the way to go. The card is churning some excellent frame…

Hi guys I am thinking of shouting myself this for a Chrissie present. Price is AUD435. I would be using it mainly for P3D and some naval warfare games. Does anyone have experience with P3D/FSX using a curved monitor over 30" and is it a viable option to improve experience. I currently am using a 24" Dell found on the side of the road. Price seems OK by me. http://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/curved/samsung-31-5-led-curved-monitor-with-glossy-black-t-shaped-stand-ls32e590cs-za/ Thanks John

I'm planning on changing out my 22" monitors for 27". The existing are 1920x1080 and plan the same for the replacements. I've read that resolution higher than 1920x1080 is preferable but comes at a cost to performance. I don't want to compromise on frame rates in any way but feel my overall experience will be greater with the larger monitors. I just want to make sure I don't fall into a trap as I'm not expert on this subject? Also wanted to check there was no issue in mixing monitor sizes? I currently use 3 x 22" in a pyramid configuration with the lower monitors being for VC and External Views and the upper monitor for Active Sky. Don't plan on changing the upper mon…

Hello; I have been using the Nvidia Profile set up that comes with the software to config my FSX graphics set up for years now. I finally decided to start using Nvidia inspector. So the question I have is will the Inspector settings that i just applied automatically override the settings I had set with the Nvidia graphics profile? Will it supersede what i had before. I just want to make sure that none of the old settings are hanging around. Thanks. kindest Regards. Forshaw.

Hi there! i have two 26" monitors (one monitor is for sim, and other one is for programs and charts.) They FullHD with 60 Hz. I have no plans to change them in the next 2 years. Computer is using only for x-plane and prepar3d in 1920*1080. Now i have a chance to buy 1060 for a good price. It will be ok with pmdg, vatsim, AS16 and good europe airports? Or it will better to add some money and buy 1070?Or 1070 will be ovekill for that resolution and i can buy 1060 for a good price now and enjoy? Regards, Alexey.

Hi, As a newbie in multiscreen setup, I'm trying tu setup a view group for 2 x 48" TV's (16:9). They are 106cm wide and 69cm high, bezels are 1cm. Trying to figure it out, but my horizon line seems to bend to the bottom in the middle where screens overlap. Has anyone allready configured this setup and would it be possible to share the config file ? I'm using one MSI 970GTX GPU. Thx guys. Marc.

Hi--just got a 4k monitor. The instructions say it runs best with a DisplayPort 1.2 so as to get 60hz and 3840 x 2160. I have a two year old Titan Black. I've looked everywhere but can't seem to find anything that tells me if I have 1.1 or 1.2. Any help is appreciated.

Hi--anyone try a 5k monitor? The resolution is 5120 x 2880 which is close to what I get now using six 1080p monitors. I already own 2 second generation Titans with 6GB each, which could be used in SLI, with 2 display port outputs total, which I think is required for 5k monitors. I am intrigued by the 5k because currently I use 6 monitors (3 over 3) which results in 5760 x 2180 display--however, matching color precisely is constantly difficult and there are bezel issues with six screens. Thanks for any input--it's appreciated!!

This topic might be stretch in this forum, but I know there are several AVSIM members with video recording experience, so thought I'd test the waters for input. I'm looking to expand my 4K recordings with these objectives: 1. No resource/performance hit on my main FS PC 2. Less compression (ShadowPlay 130 Mbps is highly compressed, I want better quality and higher bitrates upto 100-200MB/sec so that night/dusk capture is more accurate to source generated) 3. Support for my 4K camera while "on the go" (outside, in real cockpits, in home tutorials, etc.) 4. Support for additional audio in and XLR Microphone input I'm looking at Atomos Shogun Inferno (due …

Hello. Long time nVidia user here but I have been using ATI for a few years now and currently own a factory overclocked 2GB 6950 from HIS with great results. The last few nights I have been using FSX on another computer with a new 3GB 7950 from HIS. It worked fantastic as well. In both cases I am getting glass smooth framerates locked at 30 in ORBX scenery. On that note, occasionally I see posts from people not having the same luck and thought I would chime in on the best settings I have found for ATI in FSX after a few years experience. These are MUST HAVE settings I would like to point out. Screenshots follow of these settings. With my 6950 I get fantastically smooth e…

I bought this monitor a while ago and tried it with fsx se and p3d v3 and basically gave up Recently , I bought a 980ti and thought i would give it a try again so i installed it on the card and changed up my non hd monitor ( asus pb278q ) for this the hd monitor ( asus pb287q-4k hd) My experience on the hd 4k monitor is very bad! colours are washed out in both fsx and p3d max resolution and it is incredibly difficult to read the menus , ( fonts too tiny and not clear )in fsx and p3d as they are just much too small Im sure there is tons of experience here with suggestions in both fsx-se and p3d v3 platforms... Questions: Is it possible to get great re…

I am curious about upgrading to 4k for gaming, and flight simming and was wondering if its worth it? For anyone with a 4k TV or monitor could you share some light on this. Right now I am playing p3d v3 with a 30" monitor at 2560x1400... which is nice, but I plan on going all out for P3D v3. That means new graphics card and display. Will an EVGA NVIDIA GTX 680 FTW+ (4GB) be able to handle 4k?

Hi Folks I have a set up with 3 ASUS 24" monitors. Have had them for perhaps 4 years. Recently the left monitor flickers occasionally; on some flights more than others. On a 30 min flight I get maybe 2 - 3 flickers. Then other days maybe less or none. I have swapped the cable from left monitor with center one, to see if the center one flickers. But NO, it doesn't. Maybe now I will switch out the power cable to see if that could be causing it? Have never noticed a flicker on the monitor when doing other stuff and FSX is not loaded. Anyone have a idea?? Don't want to have to buy another one unless necessary. cheers Lennie G.

Hi, Thinking of changing my old LG to Dell. My sim is P3D, video card is NVIDIA760. I found two models which i'm particularly interested 1. Dell Ultrasharp 29 Ultrawide U2913WM 2. Dell Ultrasharp 34 Curved Ultrawide U3415W My questions are: - how ultrawide monitors ( generally ) fit to our sim hobby ? - how VC is represented with 21:9 proportions ? - curved monitor, is it a good idea in general ? - any distortions or other issues noted on mentioned monitors ? Thanks for feedback.

I will be getting my TrackIR soon and was wondering if its possible to have the trackIR sitting at desk level like underneath the TV? Because mounting it on top would be very high from my head, my chair is a little bit low also... So I'm wondering if its possible to just place the TrackIR on the desk without mounting it. Would that work better?

I hope this is the right place to post this. My current system: Computer: Dell XPS 730X Operating System: Windows 10 Pro System: Intel i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz Installed Memory 6.0GB 64bit Operating System Video: Nivida Geforce GTX 880 TI 2GB Memory FSX Prepar3D Ver 3.3.5 ORBX Scenery My question is which would improve my performance more? Upgrade System Memory or Video card? Problem I am seeing is with PDMG 777 at KJFK. In FSX when I switch to external spot view the plane disappears. Thanks to all who respond. Bill

I am contemplating setting up multiple monitors.. Almost every A/C I fly is via the Virtual Cockpit. The biggest issue is that it appears the Virtual Cockpit is embedded into the primary outside display. My question is for flight simmers that use multiple monitors... Is there a way to detach the Virtual Cockpit and move it to another monitor? I believe the 2D panels you can detach and move to other monitors. I am looking for ideas on how to best configure FSX with (3) 27 in monitors. I have watched some YouTube videos on multiple monitor configurations, but they didn't really deal with the Virtual Cockpit. Thanks!

I just recently purchased a 4K TV for gaming and it's been amazing. There's so much stuff to learn and I would like to ask those of you with this setup, what settings do you use under Windows 10 and your TV to get the best quality and performance out of your display? I'm confused on RGB full, Chroma 4:2:2, 4:4:4, Output 8 or 12 bits. Currently I have my TV in game mode for the lowest input lag, and have my HDMI 1 input set to enhanced mode so that I can use YBRCR 4:4:4 mode for sharp and legible text under Windows. Is this the best way to go? I'm still unsure about the 8bit/12bit and RGB full and dynamic settings. I want to use HDR mode on my TV for those game…

I had no choice but to do this the other day when I powered on my computer to find 2 displays completely black even when booted into Windows desktop. At this point I cannot properly shut down my computer as I can't see my desktop. So I tried to remove the dvi and vga cables from the back of my computer to see if I can get the screens to come back on. Still didn't work, so only option I had left was to do a cold shutdown. After a few tries of booting up again, the monitors finally displayed. I'm not sure why this happened to begin with. Not sure if its a Windows 10 bug or just one of those unexplained things. Could removing DVI/VGA cables while computer is on dama…

So my GTX1080 arrived today and its great in GTA5, XP10 but not P3Dv3. I was running a GTX970 and would get 60FPS in the F22 Raptor. I am lucky to get 25 right now with the 1080 and Ive not changed any setting. The frames are set to unlimited. I downloaded the latest NV drivers and performed a clean install. Obviously something is screwed on my system. Any tips? Thanks Pete

Hello forum members, I've been thinking about upgrading my 3 year old GTX770 4GB to somewhat more powerful and less noisy. The sim I'm using is P3D and my first question is, is it worth it and will I see some improvement in performance? At the moment my card is maxed out at 100% and P3D at times is not that smooth anymore although I'm running a sub-4k setup, so I guess that must be the bottleneck. The card I am most interested in for the moment is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126109 EDIT: Important: At least 1Dvi and 2x HDMI ports are required. What do you guys think?
