  1. ...on the Pascal series cards, as you know, there is a Power Down State listed from P0, (the highest power and watts burned), to the idle P8, (the lowest 'idle' in watts). Because of a quark and coding in the latest nVidia driver suites, if you set your power state in the mask, to Prefer Max Power, you will be seeing that your card does not power down to idle, (P8), and will in fact stay at P0, even at the computer desktop. If you set your Power Setting to Adaptive, that is the one that will allow your card to use its internal power-ramp settings, and thereby, will take your card down to a cooling P8 (idle) when graphics tasks do not call for max power rendering. …

I am not sure what happened. I upgraded my NVidia driver and FPS has dropped from 30 to 7.. I am also not sure if it is related to the driver upgrade. I have heard of cases where all of a sudden for no apparent reason, the FPS take a huge hit and tanks! Anyone have any ideas where to begin looking? Thanks!

  3. I want to upgrade my 1080p simulator screen to 4k. I'm thinking of replacing my 10 foot wide projection screen with two 4k UHD TV screens *. I need two to get the same or similar 10 foot width of view, suiting the hardware cockpit. I know my system can handle 4k scenery view output without any unacceptable performance degradation, but I cannot test with 2 such screens, and obviously don't want to go down this route if the results are going to be unacceptable. So, if anyone has tried or is actually using FSX, FSX-SE or P3D with two 4K screens connected to the same PC and displaying one or more Windows from the simulation, can they post some information about re…

Now that P3D has had an update regarding SLI, should I add another 1070 to my setup? Or go for 1 1080. Thanks

Hi Everyone, Just wanted to ask if anyone else has this issue. I run my flight sims always through Nvidia Inspector and use 1/2 synch, for me it is a god send and all is smooth. However ever so often i notice choppiness in the sim and the frame rate stops holding 30 and will go up and down between 30 and what ever it thinks this gives me a choppy sim. The only way to stop this is delete the NI profile in NI or NCP and re do and sometimes this does not work and I have to remove the whole (clean) Nvidia driver and reinstall. It appears to happen when Windows does these Daily Defender updates...not always but two in every ten say? I have tried locking out the…

In researching ways to stop/reduce shimmering in P3Dv3.3 I found three possible solutions: 1) NVidia Inspector's SGSS AA, 2) DSR, and 3) a higher resolution monitor. SGSS AA caused performance issues especially when flying through clouds and DSR (2715x1697x32 and Tex Res. is set to 4096) has helped but some shimmering still exists. My current monitor is now 8-9 years old and I've been thinking about upgrading from 1080 to 4K. For all the hardware experts out there will a 4K monitor: 1) improve the visual quality of P3D (mostly the shimmering), 2) do I need to upgrade my video card (I currently have a GTX 970), and finally 3) is there any potential for a performance drop…

Shalom and greetings all my pals, While my MSI GE62VR 6RF Apache Pro with 16 GB ram, 6 GB NVIDIA GTX 1060, 1 TB 7,200 rpm, and 226 GB SDD drive is doing well for my FSX Deluxe with SP1 and SP2 set in Windows 10 Professional operating system, I am trying to figure out to solve the problem of little fuzzy on ground texture when flying at FL350. Ground is always sharp when I see ground under my plane but little fuzzy when looking off left or right wing. My five year old laptop with 12 GB ram, 2 GB NVIDIA Geoforce 560 with CUDA, and 750 GB 7,200 rpm could show crisp ground texture from FL350 when under plane or looking right and left of the plane. Since MSI GE62VR 6R…

  10. Hello. Wanted to run by you guys (after a lot of forum surfing, and google research) What you all would recommend to upgrade my EVGA GTX580 1.5GB card with for FSX? There's a *slim* chance that I may go P3D with my next build (within the next 12-16 months). So, maybe something that can work in P3D, but something that would be a step up for the interim in FSX. I was gifted a 27" 1080P monitor for Christmas, but it needs higher AA to clean up the image on the larger screen. My 2600k is at 4.6ghz and stable as a rock, I just wonder if there is a budget option out there that's better than the 580 and readily available? Maybe some variant of 1060? I don't want to spend more th…

an immense gain in performance in both of my main sims, which are P3D 3.3 and X-Plane 10. My system: i5 3570k @ 4,2 GHz 16 GB CL9 RAM all SSD Win 7 64 bit The performance gain, fps wise, in P3D is not as huge as it is in XPX, but 5-10 fps more in the VC of the a/c I've tested so far, and a super stable frame rate, even in dense clouds, is something that makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable. The TFDi 717 is now flyable, with 30-35 fps in the VC on the ground! All displays are much clearer now, and the AA got a lot better as well (with the same settings). And XPX feels like being on turbo now!!! 60-80 fps in flight in an outside view is just super …

I have three monitors and a Nvidia graphics card that drives all of them. I enabled the Nvidia Surround video and got it configured correctly, It appears that you have to run FSX-SE in Windows Mode, and not full screen. I did that and the A/C that I am flying has a virtual cockpit. With the window panned accross all three monitors, the virtual cockpit is huge.. If I reduce the Cockpit view the VC seems to be off center. When I apply full throttle, the Cockpit view seems to pan up, I have to correct it by panning back down. I have had two "Crash to Desktops" . I neeed some help from other Nvidia multiple monitors using Surround FSX users. Are there FSX.cfg setting…

Hello people, After recently having fixed a problem by reverting back to Windows 7, another (minor) problem started happening. The problem is that the screen sometimes flickers between FSX and the desktop. This does not happen within the sim itself, it only happens when I click "Fly now", when the sim has finished loading, when entering and exiting the menus, and when closing the sim. It flickers maybe two times for one second, and in between, I can see the desktop sometimes. During every flicker, I can hear popping sound through my speakers simultaneously with the flicker. Also happening if I unplug the speakers. Because it doesn't happen within the sim itsel…

I am getting a new computer with a 7700k CPU and a Titan X Pascal Card. I wanted to run a 4K TV as my main monitor. I was thinking of 42". My question is if I put a 42" monitor on my desk, then the top of the TV is a foot over my head. Assume I use the standard view of top 1/2 is looking out cockpit, and bottom 1/2 is my instruments, I will be looking up to see where I am going. Is that good?? Is 42" too big? What is the perfect monitor size?

  16. Sorry if the question's been brought up before, my search-fu is not strong & didn't appear to give me the answer. So, single monitor setup, no additional screens to run. If I was to stick another GTX960 in my PC (the MB supports two gfx cards) would FSX notice the benefit? Would it just be bragging rights to me? Would it make FSX worse? FYI the card would be FREE. i7 950 CPU at 3GHz 24Gb RAM 2Gb GTX 960 Win7 64bit Ultimate. Cheers.

I have the following system and planning to buy a new graphics card to make the step from fsx to p3d. I'm between 1050ti and RX 470. intel i5-750 overclocked @ 3.3Ghz Ati 5770 8GB ram I know that rx-470 is generally about 25% faster than the 1050ti and frankly that's the one i'm thinking of buying, but i'm wondering if a nvidia graphics card is a must now days for p3d, if rx-470 will be the same or better for p3d and if there's any feedback about the performance of P3D from users that have recent AMD graphics cards. I'm always noticing people claiming that nvidia is the way to go for p3d, but they provide no justifications apart from the fact the some 3-4…

I recently watched a Japanese tech TV programme which included an item about VR and they looked at the new FOVE headset - see: https://www.getfove.com/. It has slightly better screen resolution than the Rift and Vive but its biggest advantage is that, as well as head tracking, it also uses eye tracking via a series of tiny cameras around the eye pieces. The main advantage of this is that the image only needs to be drawn in high resolution where you're actually looking (the foveal area) and not across the whole screen, resulting in better performance. You can also select menu options by just looking at them and pressing a key (switch selection, maybe?). In first-person-sho…

Just installed my brand new MSI GeForce GTX 1080 GAMING X 8G into my 'old' PC: an i7 [email protected] and 16 GB of RAM. My previous GPU was a GTX 780 with 6 GB VRAM. I was surprised to see the difference it makes in a sim that is quite new but still based on an older system (afaik) and a newer sim. I set up two situations in both sims and tested them a few times before and after the swap. XP11, settings med to high GTX 780 22/23 fps GTX 1080 29/30 fps Increase of fps is around 30% Aerofly FS2, everything maxed out GTX 780 160 fps GTX 1080 300 fps That's almost an increase of 100% (EDIT well, I calculated it and it's around 90%) Even though 33% is quite nice it …

  24. I bit the bullet and bought a 27" monitor (1080p, I am a poor disabled veteran on a limited income guys, LOL) because I was beginning to wonder if the details would be clearer on it up close than they they are on a 55"HDTV up close. (Please don't say I should have gotten a 4K monitor, I know they remove the need for AA settings and such, but I have a GTX 670 GPU, and would have not been happy quite yet. I want to have the rift one day also, but for either direction I do not have the funds, and will not for some time. A new GPU, a new 4K monitor, then the rift cost, it is impossible to even think of 4K or VR right now.) They are, it was a good buy, I just n…
